Beautiful park, friendly staff, perfect location. The spaces are a nice size and the park is conveniently located to Colonial Williamsburg. Great location for day trips to Virginia Beach, Yorktown, and/or Jamestown. We camped at American Heritage RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

This is a great place to stay while visiting Williamsburg. Very convenient but not in the middle of the tourist district. Easy access in and out and about a 10-15 minute easy drive to attractions. Very well laid out and nicely maintained grounds and facilities. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Roads are paved, sites are level concrete with a picnic table. Some newer sites have a fireplace and nice patio with furniture. Fire pits are available as requested. No open fires here. Easy hook ups, cable tv was good, Verizon Wireless had 3 bars however data was a bit slow. We did not try the WiFi. Pool, bathrooms, bathhouse were clean. A good mix of backin and pull thru sites some with plenty of shade and others in the back are full sun. We stayed in backin site #73 with plenty of room for or toad and 35ft Class A. We camped at American Heritage RV Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Stayed in the new section. It was very nice! Actual fireplaces, not just a fire ring or pit, nice large patios and actual patio furniture with an umbrella. The sites are angled well, so you have a feeling of space between patio area and the neighbor. The road in had some low hanging branches that were a concern (our rig is large 45' plus our tow vehicle and 13'6 tall) and they snapped loudly as we drove under them (cringe) other than that, the park was fine and easy to maneuver in and out of. We had to move due to some erosion/mud issues on one of the sites, but no problem. They were very accommodating. Very nice place and somewhat close to Williamsburg attractions as well. We camped at American Heritage RV Park in a Motorhome.

Nicely wooded campground, mostly paved roads and concrete pads. Last two rows in back are gravel roads and sites, but still fine. This area is not wooded, so good for satellite reception. Staff was very helpful and considerate, when we had to stay an extra night due to a mechanical problem. Nice pool, laundry and restrooms. Very convenient for visiting Colonial Williamsburg, Jamestown and Yorktown. We camped at American Heritage RV Park in a Motorhome.

Large sites, every site has a concrete pad for your rv. They have premier sites scattered through the park, some with a concrete fireplace - never seen that before. Washrooms are a little dated but clean, games room for kids, nice pool with very large side deck. Very nice quiet campground with mature trees. Would stay here again. We camped at American Heritage RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Great Park! We can highly recommend a premium site. Be aware that all premium sites do not have the tables on the door side. It was nice to have a table with an umbrella and the extra wide site. I did have to wipe the whole table & chairs down before we could use them. Would be nice if they had done this after the winter. The fire pit hadn't been cleaned from the last occupant and it was filled with water. When I asked, they did come right away and take care of it. Now, we did ask to change sites, so maybe this is why the fire pit wasn't cleaned or all the pine needles blown off. They have lots of rules, which keeps the place orderly. If you have a guest come to your site, they charge a $5 entry fee each day. They are not allowed to park at your site, which keeps the park nice, but maybe a long walk to some sites. The front of the park is shady but from about site #100 back there are no trees. Cable was good but the WiFi was terrible. Next time we are in Williamsburg we will stay here again. We camped at American Heritage RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Well groomed and managed park. Concrete pads with patio, all services worked flawlessly and Voila, wifi strong enough you can actually use it any time of day. Sites large enough for ample parking and could still sit outside. Very good location to see the historic sites. Stayed in a 40 ft. motorhome. We would come here again. No secret why this is so highly rated. Nice people at the office, and a very small store, watch your step. Roads are a little tight, but we were able to get our 37 foot motorhome in and out easily. The camp is clean, and we went on spring break. There were alot of kids on bikes and scooters but it wasn't loud. There was alot of people there but we stayed in #1 which has its own patio, fire pit, and deck chairs and table. The stone patio was beautiful and even had its own charcoal grill. The restrooms were immaculate, equal or better than the nicest I have ever been in. I would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting the Williamsburg area. We camped at American Heritage RV Park in a Motorhome.

The Virginia War Museum is a 30 minute drive away in Newport News. It covers VA battles from the Revolutionary war to the War on Terror. It is well worth the drive, and my kids loved it.

We enjoyed our time at this park. Clean, mostly safe, convenient to town and area attractions, small playground but lots of grassy space to play. Laundry could use some upgrades but was okay. Mini golf was so old that it was unusable. Office staff very knowledgeable and friendly. We camped at American Heritage RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

The park is very well kept. Most sites had grass beside their site however our site didn't have grass due to the trees (which dropped a lot of leaves and acorns). The sites are tight to maneuver but manageable if you go slow. Cable was very good including ESPN. WIFI was good. We stayed here 10 nights and would stay again. Location to the tourist attractions were within 15 minutes using I-64. We camped at American Heritage RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

We purchased the Fall Bounce ticket that we used two times at Busch Gardens and 3 times at Colonial Williamsburg for $99.00. This was a great deal and we didn't have to rush touring Colonial Williamsburg. The American Revolutionary War Museum in Yorktown was also very interesting at $12.00. The Virginia Capital Trail was a great bike path. We went from both Jamestown and Charles City. Both bike rides were different.

When you 1st arrive and check in the friendliness that you encounter from the reservation agents, the people maintaining the property to anyone who works at American Heritage is amazing and truly appreciated! The facilities are immaculate! The restrooms and shower areas were clean and comfortable. The RV sites were wide and deep. Their version of a basic site is a every other campgrounds deluxe site. Overall this is a very good park for visiting the Williamsburg area. There are two types of sites - very wooded and very bare. If you want shaded go for a site below #103. There is only one bathhouse and therefore you could have a long walk depending on your site. I would have rated this park higher except some of the turns are tight although when we checked in the clerk gave us a hint how to avoid some of the tight turns. Another problem are the trees near site #69 which will hit both the side of your rig plus everything on the roof. Both the wi-fi and cable are very good and it's easy to reach all the attractions in the area. The sites have concrete pads and very nice patios with tables. We camped at American Heritage RV Park in a Motorhome.
