Extremely noisy! The owner's may say that most of the people who stay here are not affected by the noise, however one can only assume that they are for the most part hard of hearing. The spaces are close together, but that didn't really have an impact on our stay. After a day of walking around Williamsburg all we wanted to do was sit ,relax, eat dinner, watch the TV and relax with out being disturbed which due to the trains running so close and get a good night's sleep which was virtually impossible (the trains ran frequently and all through the night). I should also note that many older reviews of the campground on other sites note the noise factor, but few of the newer ones found it a factor which seems odd. We camped at Anvil Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Stayed for two nights. They were extremely nice when we checked in. Gave us wi fit passwords, and showed us our spot. Gravel sites that were level. Spot was a little tight on driver side of the rv but great on the passenger side. Great playground, nice small pool, basketball court and a decent store. The bathrooms are immaculate and showers have plenty of room. They weren't air conditioned but I didn't mind. The people were very nice. They let me put our rv in overflow on the last day so we could see a movie as it was well after check out. It was a little moist with the road and railroad but I couldn't hear it over the air condition. We camped at Anvil Campground in a Motorhome.

This is a delightful little campground. It is about 250 yds long and 60 yds wide. It is sandwiched between a reasonably busy road and a moderately busy railroad. Don't let the railroad deter you from staying here. It is not all that noisy. It is clean and well maintained. The staff bends over backwards to be helpful. The sites are all crushed granite which I prefer to grass (no tracking up the coach). Very few of the sites are level, but most are close. Maneuvering a 45 ft coach is not a problem. the price of $60+ is pretty normal for the area. A nice touch is the strategically placed Anvil signs beside the local roads. They saved me from several wrong turns. We camped at Anvil Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Plan on spending more than a couple days here. There is no way you can do justice to visit here under three days. Obviously, Colonial Williamsburg is the main attraction. There are also the historical sites of Jamestown and Yorktown short distances away. Both are well worth a visit. There is also a Busch Gardens just South of Williamsburg within easy driving distance.

The staff here are just wonderful! The location is handy for trips into Williamsburg, but be warned: the sites are VERY small & the place is bordered by a busy highway & a VERY noisy, busy railroad track. We were shaken awake several times in the night & conversation has to halt when one of those bad boys comes through. It's not a relaxing place to stay, but it is convenient for getting to the many sights! Clean restrooms and showers. Site surface was gravel and featured a fire ring and picnic table. We camped at Anvil Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Very small but well located campground for Colonial Williamsburg and shopping. A dog area was being constructed. While compact, there is a nice pool and children's playground near the office. We camped at Anvil Campground in a Motorhome.

Nice park nearby for hiking. The park includes 2 huge dog parks. Canoes and kayaks can also be rented in season.

This is an excellent small park. It is clean and well maintained. All employees were very friendly and helpful. Excellent Wifi and was satellite friendly.

Only negative is it is very close to the RR tracks and some road noise. We would stay again but be aware of the noise issues.

Overall loved the park for a short stay. We camped at Anvil Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Very friendly staff at check-in. A little tight maneuvering the road but with care no problems. Sites level gravel, about half in trees with the others more open. Those in the trees may have trouble getting a satellite signal. Wifi worked well most of the time - a little slow during peak hours. Cable was good with many channels. The only reason I marked the campground loser was due to close proximity of the train tracks - about a hundred yards away. The coach actually shook a little when a freight train passed and we were the farthest from the tracks. Luckily the did not run much at night. We would stay here again. We camped at Anvil Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Public transit stops at the campground if you choose not to drive into Williamsburg. Parking in Historic Williamsburg on the weekend can be very difficult, even this time of year. The nearby outlet mall will keep the shopper busy for hours.

Small privately owned park with an amazing staff. Our corner lot was large and has a large dog walking area near the entrance to the park. It is right on the train tracks but they didn't bother us at all. We stayed 6 weeks and it was always very clean and well kept. We had a great stay and will come back if in the area. We camped at Anvil Campground in a Travel Trailer.

The area a much too small an area. Everything was jammed on top of one another. A busy highway was on one side of the very small grounds and a train was on the opposite side. You could not get away from the noise. We camped at Anvil Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The location was great, minutes from the visitor's center and the middle of Gettysburg, where there were wonderful restaurants. Prices in most of the restaurants were very reasonable, by Alaska standards. Food shopping was not close by.

This was our third stay at this park and it will not be our last. We just love this park for the friendly staff and closeness to Colonial Williamsburg and Jamestown. Because the campground is on a bus line, we do not need to bring a car, which saves us money. The bus is very safe and reliable.

It is next to the railroad tracks but we have camped across the U.S. and this is the case with many campgrounds. After the second train, we barely notice them. The road in front is quite busy during the day but quiets down at night and we have not noticed much truck traffic, mostly cars.

Our sites have always been fairly level with little adjustment on our part. We will definitely stay here again and again. We camped at Anvil Campground in a Motorhome.

Small and quaint. Every employee are the sweetest people I have ever encountered. They willing and able to help out with anything!!! Cute little store, pool, playgrounds & arcade. Laundry facilities tad expensive, but plenty in town. The sites are small, but fit everything you could have to camp in. Only one major issue, train tracks right behind it n they run about every 3-4 hours. But They haven't been too big or loud. We camped at Anvil Campground in a Tent Trailer.

This is a very small park. Lots of tents. The sites are very small also. This park is next to a main road with lots of traffic and a train also. The sites are large gravel rocks and are not quite level enough for a class A on some sites. They have a dirt(used to be grass) patio that is very small. It is not that much closer to Williamsburg than the Heritage Campground so that's where I would stay next time. We camped at Anvil Campground in a Motorhome.

Staff was very helpful and friendly. The park is fairly small with very little grass areas for dogs. Nice pool with a few playgrounds for the kids. Very close to Williamsburg. Right next to the train tracks but not bad if you don't mind trains. We camped at Anvil Campground in a Motorhome.

This is a nice small campground. Check-in was easy and staff was knowledgeable. Odd setup for units in the middle section as you have to back up to each other. Restrooms are clean but small and could use a little updating. Good location for exploring the area. No problems with utilities and Wi-Fi and cable TV were good. Trains were not an issue for us. We would possibly try another campground in the area but would not have a problem camping here again. We camped at Anvil Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Rate based on pay for 6 get 7th free. Showers were dated and enclosures were not private. Could use an upgrade. Park established in 1954 and is still owned by same family. They were all friendly and very helpful. Park is well maintained. Water pressure was terrible. Took several minutes to fill coffee pot using our Pur filter. Railroad track on one side busy road on other but we didn't find it to be a problem. Trains seem to be only during day and traffic slowed down in the evening. If in the area the water pressure would be the only thing to keep us from going back. We camped at Anvil Campground in a Motorhome.
