This is a large county park The roads are gravel and easy to get around in. The sites are sand/grass and pretty level. You have the options of water/electric, and WES for RVs with 20/30/50 amp hook ups. Tent sites have electric 2 amp available. The showers are concrete block and not that warm but the showers have decent pressure and pretty good warm to hot water. The showers were clean and well taken care of. The folks who checked us in were friendly and provided information on thing so to do in the area. It should be noted that we just had a W/E site and used their dump station. If you want to fill your fresh water tanks do it at your site because they have no potable water at the dump station. This CG had close access to Jamestown, Williamsburg, and Yorktown some of the most historic towns in the USA. If we're in the area we'd stay here again. We camped at Chickahominy Riverfront Park in a Motorhome.

The sites are level and have good water and electric connections. But, the sewer connection sticks up out of the ground and was just an inch or two below the level of my rigs holding tanks which made it difficult to drain my tanks. We camped at Chickahominy Riverfront Park in a Motorhome.

I made my reservation by phone and accepted an electric only site as it was waterfront and close to the rest rooms. After arriving and checking in proceeded to site where there was a parked boater's trailer and truck parked left unattended. Went back to office and was given a choice of five more sites, four of which also had boater's trailer and trucks parked unattended. I was offered a choice to select a site with both water and power, however we preferred the waterfront site. We were able to take the one site available that did not have a boater parked upon. Beautiful view of the river from our site. The swimming pool was first class and lifeguarded, and offered ice cream to purchase. I was not thrilled with the place as there was a lot of boater traffic, 5 AM noise, boat fuel odor from the rude boaters. The bathrooms were not cleaned from my arrival on Saturday until after check out time on Sunday. Primitive camping area to bathrooms area will be a bit of a hike, but does offer on the water tent sites. Enjoy the pool, stay far away from the boat launch. We camped at Chickahominy Riverfront Park in a Tent Trailer.

Base Camp near Historic Triangle Jamestown/Williamsburg/Yorktown Most recent stay was July 2nd thru July 5th 2017 We camp in a Little Rig "Tear Drop" style RV only 15' long w/o toilet or shower ~ plus we like to eat outdoors using the picnic table and set up our dining canopy for sun and weather protection and thus rely on condition of campgrounds facilities and being nearby our site ~ so our critique is focused in that area. Yes we did get close to the restroom/shower building an older/dated facility showing its age, needing a little updating. Shower stall area had communal changing/drying off area with a long bench, plus hooks and cubby hole shelves for your stuff; all nice conveniences. Shower stalls were separated with a shower curtain, but a convenience item would be to add rubber floor mats to keep feet off wet floor during dry off time. Communal sink area was messy and also needed paper towels that could be used to wipe down area after each use, also needed hooks for hand towels and small shelves for toiletries This is a government [county] operated park and over all the grounds was well groomed. Interior roadways were asphalt and sites were grass mixed with gravel. However, they were in need of maintenance like new asphalt to fill pot holes in roadway and gravel to cover dirt in sites. It rained during our stay and site was muddy and the roadway potholes filled with water [see my photos] All this resulted in unpleasant stay - questioned camp staff and was told work orders were submitted long ago but have been waiting for public officials to authorize funding and assign job to contractor. We camped at Chickahominy Riverfront Park in a Travel Trailer.

Biked from Richmond, VA to the Chickahominy Campground. For those of you who may not know, it is on the Trans Am Bike Route, a 4,300 mile trek from Yorktown, VA to Astoria, OR!! So... you might think it should be biker friendly. A little pricey for no frills camping- no hookups will cost you about $30 for a site. But hot showers do not cost ya! The real problem is the noise at night. This is the second time I have biked from Richmond to the Chickahominy Campground in as many months. Both times, same problem. Very loud and very inconsiderate campers!! Quiet time is supposed to be after 10 PM. First time camping there things didn't quiet down until after midnight. This last time, it lasted until almost 2 AM. Mentioned to staff. Nothing they can do as no one is on site. If it gets too bad, suggested I call police. Yeah, right!!! And then spend the night next to people after doing that??? Had to get up early in the morning each time and drag my butt back to Richmond on a bike with 35+ pounds of gear after little sleep. Not fun! So... if you want to party until late in the night, might be a great place to camp. But if you want/need to sleep, look elsewhere!! We camped at Chickahominy Riverfront Park in a Tent.

This is a nice local park run by Jame City County with a great location along the river. If you are into boating and fishing, this is a great place for both. It is not a large campground and has the feel of a smaller one, but with plenty to do if you want to. The downside to this campground is that the sites need to be re-graveled; because it rained prior to our arrival and while we were there (not the campgrounds fault) and all the low spots showed up and there was alot of mud, unfortunately. The restrooms are average at best, and what you would expect for a county park. There is no cable TV or WiFi but there was good cell phone reception and the TV antenna picked up plenty of local stations from Richmond and Norfolk. With some camp site maintenance this could be a much better park without a tremendous amount of work. If we were to stay here again, we would ask for site 321 - it seemed to sit the highest with plenty of room for big rigs and a beautiful view over the river. We camped at Chickahominy Riverfront Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Nice quiet public campground on a creek that empties into the Chickahominy River. I would have rated it higher but felt it a bit expensive fora public campground. Located near Colonial Williamsburg, Jamestown, and Yorktown museums. We camped at Chickahominy Riverfront Park in a Motorhome.

Tent sites have one shared electricity panel with two 110 outlets. No 20, 30 or 50 amp; just 1 plug per site. Wish we had known because we needed 30 amp and 110. We camped at Chickahominy Riverfront Park in a Travel Trailer.

What a sweet park! We had a site right where the river bends and it provided a fantastic view. The campground has a system of lights on the utility pole which is much lower than we usually see. It was much appreciated as it provides lighting for security but isn't blaring in your eyes at night. We only stayed two days and I wish we could have stayed longer to rent a canoe or kayak. There is a golf driving range right as you enter the park as well. We camped at Chickahominy Riverfront Park in a Motorhome.

A lovely park on the banks of the Chickahominy River. Unfortunately due to the amount of tall vegetation it is hard to see the water from the water front sites. We did not pay the extra $12 PER night for sewer hook-up so we did not have a water view. I think the rates are rather high since cable and WiFi is not included. Even though we had a huge tree on our site we were able to get satellite service and over the air reception. Lots of fisherman putting in at the ramp since there is a big tournament starting on Thursday but they were not intrusive. Will agree with a previous poster that the roads need attention; lots of potholes. Also the dump area needs attention. Very muddy place. Doesn't seem very sanitary. It needs to be surrounded by cement. We would probably stay here again. We camped at Chickahominy Riverfront Park in a Fifth Wheel.

On the positive side the location is great for visiting Williamsburg and the colonial triangle. Be wary of the weekends. There can be rowdy fisherman and lots of kids and there can be a lot of commotion. During the week in the fall it was very nice and quiet. We had a nice water view. But the roads need improvement and the site hookups can be strange. There is no cable and it was difficult to get a satellite signal due to the trees. We had to pay the nonresident price so without cable and without Wi-Fi and the weird hookups the price seemed excessive. There is a great bike trail nearby. If you are bringing a boat, this would be a good place to come. We camped at Chickahominy Riverfront Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We are in a 39' 5th wheel and have a back-in site with a water view, site 315. Our satellite does not work in the site, but we get plenty over the air stations. Our Verizon Mifi gets a good signal here. When you enter the one way road into the full hook-up sites, the road is easy to navigate; however, the other end has some tight turns with trees. When we leave, we will go out the same way we came in even though it is one way to avoid the tight turns. The park is not busy and only has 5 other sites booked for the entire weekend. The park is well maintained and has a friendly staff. The park is also very quiet. We would come here again. We camped at Chickahominy Riverfront Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This park was great for us. We had a site on the water: actually a bluff above the water. Beautiful views and plenty of room. We were very impressed with the facilities: boat ramp, RV camping and tent camping with water access. There are a couple of small docks from which you can fish, and we caught a couple. It is close to the historic area, but away from the noise of town. The site was packed gravel and level. The staff was very friendly and helpful. There is a bike path/running trail that runs all the way into the residential area. Everything was nicely maintained. We'll be back. We camped at Chickahominy Riverfront Park in a Motorhome.
