We stayed in the Colonial side. The pool is large and includes a splash pad. They have two jumping pillows, one for ages 2-6 and one for 7+, which is nice. They took us to our spot via golfcart and made sure we had everything we needed. The campground was not full and they did a nice job of spacing the campers out so we weren't on top of each other unnecessarily. The spots are nicely sized so that you aren't crammed in but close enough to be friendly if you are so inclined. VERY flat site, with heavy stone, not gravel. Lots of shade! We had a Deluxe full hook-up back in so we had a paver patio, fire ring, swing, and picnic table. Very clean and nice. Bathrooms were clean, showers could be bigger (I carry a lot of junk with me to the shower), small bench for bag and two hooks on the door so it was fine if not spacious. Ice cream available at the pool. We would stay there again! We camped at Williamsburg / Busch Gardens Area KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Had dinner one night at La Tolteca in town, it was tasty and they had nice margarita specials. The outlet mall nearby saved us on a rainy day.

Overall Rating:

This is an expensive place to stay, but does more than most to justify it. I had a premium pull-through with concrete pad and patio because of the weather forecast. That was a good choice since it rained a lot all week. Sites are spacious and level. The park is visually appealing, with lots of trees. Lots of activities onsite for kids, large pool and splash pad, though the weather was too chilly to try it out. They sell tickets to the historic and entertainment attractions in the office, and most are a short drive from the park. It feels secluded and quiet, even though it is close to town. Cable TV was the best I have had in a campground, crystal clear and lots of channels (to many trees for satellite). The park Wifi even worked well. Verizon internet was weak and occasionally dropped out completely, though phone was OK. Water pressure was a little low, but acceptable. It gets very busy, especially on weekends, so better have a reservation. We camped at Williamsburg / Busch Gardens Area KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Colonial Williamsburg was great. You can't see it properly in a day, so the multi-day, multi-site tickets are good. Try the Oceans and Ale restaurant in Williamsburg for good food and lots of tap beers.

We have stayed here several times. We always request one of the few concrete pads.

There has been a lot of updates to the back section. Front section sites are a little small.

It is about a 15 minute drive to the Colonial Williamsburg area. We camped at Williamsburg / Busch Gardens Area KOA in a Motorhome.

Narrow road off interstate.

Date of Stay: July, 2015 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

We spent four nights here while touring the historic triangle. We were on the "quiet" side which was definitely quiet, which we enjoyed. The quiet side was adequate but our site was in need of refurbishing; new gravel, regrading, etc. It was level enough but was very muddy the entire stay. Some straw was put down behind our site but our side yard wasn't really usable and was missing the fire pit. The wi-fi was the only other issue, it was very slow. The rest of the hook-ups were adequate. We took a walk over to the other side of the park which seemed more updated and newer. The "nature trail" connecting the two sides was washed out in places though. We ended up walking back on the road. The laundry room was clean and the pool on the quiet side seemed to be as well. Overall it was an average park but we enjoyed our stay in Williamsburg. Check out the York River State park which is about 2 miles away. We took a nice hike there one day with our dog. York River State Park is worth a visit and is close-by. The best meal of our trip was at the Fat Canary in Williamsburg. From appetizer to dessert to the service, it was worth every dime.

Spent two weeks while on an extended trip through the southeast US. The campground is a mix of gravel and concrete sites. All the concrete sites appeared level (ours was) and had a paver patio, picnic table and fire ring. The gravel sites were mixed as far as level and amenities. Plenty of tent and cabin sites which would be great for a family get togethers. Our nightly rate seemed high, but, included the July 4th weekend, and the facilities, children activities and location were worth the rate. Daily activities included games, ice cream and movies.

The campground offers discounted admission tickets to several local venues and is minutes away from Colonial Williamsburg, the Jamestown Settlement and the Yorktown Battlefield. Washington, DC is three hours away via Amtrak.

We camped here in a Motorhome would camp here again. We camped at Williamsburg / Busch Gardens Area KOA in a Motorhome.

Well appointed KOA, but lacks privacy. There are 2 campgrounds, Colonial and Williamsburg. Colonial is the main CG with pool, jumping pillow, store, etc. Williamsburg is down the street and much tighter/older. Colonial was well worth the extra cost with our 6 and 7 yr old kids. Our site was next to the pool which was great for convenience to all activities, but quite busy with a full CG for Memorial Day weekend. Even though the CG was full, it wasn't uncomfortably crowded, I just wish there were more natural barriers between sites/roads. Our site was not very level, and most of the cabins are on steep hillsides (not bike friendly). The staff was exceptionally attentive, grounds were well kept, Wifi was perfect, and all amenities were in great shape. We would stay here again. We loved this "quiet side" of the KOA. Spent a week here. The rains made the site a little muddy but that's life. We were severely attacked by chiggers one evening. I put down a mat and we were fine after that. A fair of amount of full timers here, all pretty friendly. There is a great place to walk the dogs, it's a path on the way up to the other campground (walk back through the full timer section of trailers and you will see it). Nice people, no stress. We camped at Williamsburg / Busch Gardens Area KOA in a Motorhome.

This KOA is one of the nicer ones we have been at. All their facilities were clean and the staff was very friendly. We were located next to the main road and the office, no road noise to speak of as traffic is light. I gave it a nine as our site was not one of the more level sites in the campground. We would camp here again. We camped at Williamsburg / Busch Gardens Area KOA in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

I would've rated this campground higher if they had paid just a little more attention to detail. Perhaps April is a little early in their season to stay here because they didn't seem ready. The cabin we stayed in was dirty when we arrived and the park in general was in need of some TLC. The campground store offered little outside of souvenirs but there is a Wal-Mart located a short drive from here. Camp staff was very friendly and accommodating. We camped at Williamsburg / Busch Gardens Area KOA in a Campground Cabin.

Close to I-64 and shopping and Colonial Williamsburg, we were here only overnight after having made an advance reservation back in early March. We used none of the facilities but we found this park is similar to many KOAs. An OK park but not exceptional and more suited for RVs that are not Class A's. The first site assigned we could not get level on without BOTH front wheels being off the ground so obviously the sites need some work they probably won't get now that the spring/summer season is starting to kick in. We moved to another spot and it was OK but perhaps because it was under the trees, it was mostly fall leaves and dirt outside the door. I am sure it is really dusty when the weather is dry. OK for an overnight but I would not want to spend a full vacation here. We also had to rehook our toad right in front of the office as there is no level area to rehook for those of us with toads. We camped at Williamsburg / Busch Gardens Area KOA in a Motorhome.

We stayed in site D-43, which was a pull thru with patio, fire pit, and swing. It was a very clean and well put together campground, with great amenities. The staff was extremely friendly. The park itself is close to all the tourist sites and they sell tickets in the office. We would stay again if in the area. We camped at Williamsburg / Busch Gardens Area KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

Great campground, restrooms and showered we're very clean. Staff was very friendly, check in was smooth. We were here in late September so they were a little slower. Very close to everything you might want to visit. Sites are nice, some would be tight for large rigs, but many are suited for large rigs. We stayed in a 40' fifth wheel and had no problems. Nice pool and jumping pillows for the kids. Quiet at night. We camped at Williamsburg / Busch Gardens Area KOA in a Fifth Wheel.
