Called an hour away to see if a site was available. Received good directions. Tho it is 3 miles off I-81, rt.37 circles back to 81 so no need to backtrack when leaving. Great, friendly customer service, and we were led to our site which is much appreciated. We are just passing thru, and serves our needs completely. We camped at Candy Hill Campground in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

We stayed here for the first time on our way southbound on I-81, just for the night. We had a nice level pull-through site on an concrete pad. Some other reviewers complained about highway noise from Route 37. Maybe in spring, early summer with windows open, but if you are running AC or furnace, I don't think it's an issue. We had on the TV and furnace and didn't hear a thing. Even with TV off, slept the night just fine. Loved that after hours on the road, we could order food from local Pizza/Italian restaurant and they delivered right to our camper!

We had reservations, but the night we arrived they were closing early, so we kept them updated on our progress. Got in just under the wire and they were waiting for us. Check-in was easy. Definitely will stay here again when heading up or down I-81. Nice campground store as well. We camped at Candy Hill Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Very nice grounds very well kept. Nice dog run. Very helpful and friendly staff. Roads to the campground and in the campground are paved but rather narrow - they are easy to navigate but only wide enough for 1 vehicle with some blind spots. Very close to the highway so it was noisy. We camped at Candy Hill Campground in a Motorhome.

We were coming home from a vacation and needed an overnight camping spot. I had decided on a campground, but when we arrived to a rather dirty, and to us, unsafe, spot, we decided to leave and hope for a better campground. I called Candy Hill, and the gentleman I spoke to said he would save us a site. We arrived and were thrilled at what we saw. A polite, helpful front desk and a clean campsite. We had a picnic table, and I requested a fire ring, which was delivered within five minutes. We didn't use the showers, so I can't address that concern that some reviewers had, but I did not think that the highway noise was an issue. Wifi was fine. We camped at Candy Hill Campground in a Motorhome.

Park was small compared to some of the "resort" type parks, which is one of the reasons we tried it. We prefer smaller parks were you don't have to be worried about being run over by golf carts as you take a walk. CG property was very clean, all the employees we dealt with were very pleasant. The camp store is one of the best stocked that I've run across, especially for the size of the park. We stayed on one of the Luxury sites that included a long pull through site that feature a concrete pad, concrete patio, full hookups, 50 amp service, a custom built fire ring, patio furniture and a gas grill. The site itself was great, the only issue was these sites were the closest sites to Hwy 37, so there was some traffic noise while outside. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and will return. We camped at Candy Hill Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Visited Marker-Miller Orchards Farm Market, loved it. Went to Old Town Winchester, great walking town with plenty of restaurants and shops. Visited the Patsy Cline house, very interesting, not sure it was worth the $8 per person fee for the tour, but we did enjoy it.

We've been stopping at Candy Hill for over twenty years and it doesn't appear to have changed. This is not a good thing. The general infrastructure is badly in need of upgrade to modern standards. The bathroom house is particularly a problem. It took me four flushes to almost empty to toilet. Showers are small, shower heads are high, and the floors are slippery. The dressing area is public and narrow. If two people were standing in the aisle, they could not pass without touching. My wife says the women's room smells mouldy. Since this campground is pricey, it appears to be acting as a cash cow, rather than provide a positive camping experience. Our highlight was the attendant who helped park us. We camped at Candy Hill Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Very convenient to gasoline and a shopping center with a large WalMart as well as several chain restaurants. Too close to I-81, making it convenient and noisy.

Have to get off I-81 S at exit 317 and turn onto Rt 37 for about 4 miles then turn right onto US 50 and make sure you get all the way over to the left hand turning lane at the red light otherwise you have to go down and turn around to turn onto Ward Ave. Didn't like the wi-fi as you had to set up an acct to even use it for the allowed free time. Didn't use it as they wanted too much info. We camped at Candy Hill Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Just pay attention to making that right turn from Rt 37 onto US 50 and get all the way over to the left hand turning lane at that red light to turn onto Ward Ave.. when leaving to get back to I-81 S stay in the right hand lane after making your right hand turn from Ward and the next red light takes you back onto Rt 37 which take you to I-81...when you see the signs for I-81 be aware of traffic as there will be 2 merging lanes on your right

The CG is 40 yards from a busy dual lane hwy, VA-37. It is very noisy all night which is one reason for my low evaluation. The site had a nice concrete pad which we appreciated as it was pouring down rain. Restrooms/showers were a long way from our site. They were not up to standards but were usable. The camp store has the most complete stock of camping and RV parts I have ever seen at a CG. Prices are fair. Due to the noise we will not stay here again. We camped at Candy Hill Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Stayed here 2 nights. Nice clean campground. Had a pull-through that was just long enough for our motorhome and tow. Kind of a strange set up for pull-throughs, but it worked. Staff was nice, good camp store. They need to put up a sign when you turn onto Ward Ave. Once you make the turn don't panic, there actually is a campground at the end of the road! Turns were tight but doable. We'd stay here again. We camped at Candy Hill Campground in a Motorhome.

Easy access from highway. Mostly back-in sites and can be pretty tight; they do escort you to your site and will guide you as you back in. Check-in guy was nice enough, but not friendly. Roads in park are paved and easy to navigate. We had a picnic table, concrete pad and you can request a fire ring (which they will bring you). They have a game room with a pool table and several arcade games; as well as a nicely maintained pool. Laundry room has AC and is reasonably priced - but it's small. Bathrooms also have AC - but both need a bit of maintenance. Park is pretty and has a nice size store; they even sell fresh eggs. We camped at Candy Hill Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Local pizza place delivers right to the park and the park sells propane and all the basic stuff at their store. We unhooked and went to fill up on diesel and pick up a few things. Limited number of TV stations. It's a nice/quiet park and convenient as a stop-over (although it's a little pricey).

My second time here. Friendly staff, well kept property, the grass was the best kept of any campground that we have stayed at. Water pressure good, electricity was constant. Cable was nice. Wifi worked well but wasn't easy to initially access. Nice concrete pad. My site was across from dump station but I only smelled it once when outside and the wind blew from that direction. I will be back! We camped at Candy Hill Campground in a Motorhome.

We stayed overnight and found the campground in good order. Great dog area that gave our big "boys" a chance to run. Sites were nicely sized. Staff helpful and friendly. I noticed comments about road noise but that is to be expected if a campground is convenient to interstate. It's a trade off for convenience and noise was not at an unreasonable level. We travel this route often and will definitely stay again. We camped at Candy Hill Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

The person who checked us in was rude. We had deep ruts in front of our site. (Made it difficult to back in). The restrooms and showers were dirty. (Hair on shower floor and in sink drain). They were not cleaned AT ALL during our 2 night stay. We camped at Candy Hill Campground in a Fifth Wheel.
