A short distance off of 81/77 but a ridge between makes the park quiet. Mixed site surfaces, ours was gravel and level. "Systems" were fine. Wifi is good. Good base camp for natural and other entertainment in the area. We camped at Fort Chiswell RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Very convenient to the Wytheville area. Walmart a 10 minute drive. Small grocery in Fort Chiswell a couple of minutes away. Fuel Stations nearby. Plenty of restaurants.

This is a nice campground. They have some nice long pull thru sites that allow big rigs to stay hooked up. They have 50 Amp FHU available. Many overnighters. The park is older but clean and tidy. ATT & Verizon work well. Plenty of clear sky for satellite set up but also some trees. Restrooms are clean. No train or Hwy noise. Internal roads are gravel and pads are gravel and grass with a few having concrete patios. Sites are well spaced and many 60+ feet long . Easy on/off the I-81. Will stay again. We camped at Fort Chiswell RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Stayed here many times. Convenient to I-81. Lovely location, sits in a valley between a sheep farm and a cattle farm. WiFi worked great, Verizon too. Easy in, Easy out. We camped at Fort Chiswell RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

This is a great little park just off I-77 and I-81 without the noise. The staff is very friendly. Very long sites to accommodate any size unit with toad. Spaced well. All the amenities at a great price. Would definitely come back. We camped at Fort Chiswell RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

History, History and History. Too much is not enough.

This was the second time we stay here. Very easy on/off from I-81. It accommodates big rigs very well: HDT with long 5th wheel (our old set-up) or 41 ft motorhome towing a full size pick-up truck (our new set-up). The staff is very friendly and helpful. Even though the office was closed when we got there, someone met us and led us to a site. I settled up the next morning. If you get there late and no one is around, they allow you to choose any site and pay the next day. We did not notice any noise from the interstate. It was very quiet. The site was wide and had a concrete pad and it was very level. We will stop here again in our north/south travels. We camped at Fort Chiswell RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

You pass a truck stop as you go to/from the campground, so it is very convenient if you need fuel or a bite to eat etc.

Easy off and on for interstate 81 and very clean and quiet. Stop on our way home and was greeted by a very friendly and courteous staff. Site was very level and excellent cable and Wi-Fi. Would highly recommend this campground for anyone looking for an overnighter. We camped at Fort Chiswell RV Park in a Tent Trailer.

We stayed here for one night on our way south. It was very conveniently located 1/2 mile off interstate. Had a pull-through site. The whole line of sites was filled by people stopping for one night on their way south. So early the next morning we had lots of diesel noise as people got an early start. But the park was clean, inexpensive, and convenient. The young man in the office was very efficient and had us checked in in no time. We camped at Fort Chiswell RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed here for 2 nights on our way to Florida to recharge a bit before continuing on. The park is well laid out with mostly pull-thru sites, and quite easy for big rigs to maneuver. The fellow at the desk was friendly and efficient, and quickly had us checked in. The restrooms and showers are very clean and heated. The cable and WiFi services are quite good, and our site gave us a good satellite view as well. Verizon cell service is very good here. The park is just over a ridge from I-81, so the road noise is almost unnoticeable. There's a Flying J with a Denny's right at the exit making refueling your vehicle and body very convenient. We will absolutely be returning! We camped at Fort Chiswell RV Park in a Motorhome.

Our third visit as we travel north and south. Not far from highway but no highway or truck stop noise. Stayed hooked up as the site was level. We are 60 feet including truck, and the site was plenty long for the combo. Definitely will stay there again. We camped at Fort Chiswell RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Great independent, inexpensive Cummins repairman just up the hill.

This park is a real nice find for those who are traveling and need a nice clean place to overnight. The gravel site was level-ish and shaded, water tasted fine but they used to mine lead in the area back in the day (1700's) so who knows what might be in it ( I don't). We used it for showers with no problems. The road/hiway is close but not an issue for sleeping. The park is surrounded by sheep pastures and is very pastoral. We camped at Fort Chiswell RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The Shot Tower State Park is nearby and worth a visit.

A clean, comfortable park. Nothing fancy but a good overnight stop off I-81. We reserved and stayed in a pull through site with a concrete slab. Our site had a partial slab, covering only about the distance between the front and rear axles of our 40' motor home, reasonably level. Gravel on either end of the slab. Sites were close together in our section but not unreasonably so. Did not need to unhook toad. However, looking across the park's access road to the gravel only sites, many seemed more level, wider, easier to access and preferable to the one we occupied, although with some trees that could block satellite TV. Seemed to be several seasonal sites, and some even quasi-permanent with skirting around trailers, but not unsightly. Plenty of grassy areas to walk the dogs. Close to I-81 but no road noise to speak of. All in all, a satisfactory stop and we would return. We camped at Fort Chiswell RV Park in a Motorhome.

Very good overnight stop along Interstate 81. Easy access and wide open park, easy to get around the campground to site. Office staff was very good, no issues and friendly. Liked the concrete pads at the site which also was a pull-through. Would recommend it and not hesitate to stop here again. We camped at Fort Chiswell RV Park in a Motorhome.

For the second time this year, we stopped for a few days while passing through the area. We enjoyed this stay just as much as the first time. We were able to choose our site because of the small number of people there, and picked site 45. It is a great pull thru, cement pad with no leveling issues. Again, the W/E/S were all great as were cable and wifi. We didn't find anything in the area for us to do, so we just chose to relax at the site for a few days. The staff is very nice and helpful. If we are in the area and need a place to stop, we'll go out of our way to stay at Ft Chiswell! We camped at Fort Chiswell RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

A nice park. Easy access, truck stop adjacent, sites mostly level. WiFi was okay. Stayed two nights but didn't use any of the facilities.
Pull thru site was long enough to keep car attached to 40' coach. We camped at Fort Chiswell RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Fifty minutes to Christiansburg for dining, shopping and Virginia Tech activities. Radford Iniversity about 20 minutes away.

We always stop here going to and from our winter destination. Just off I-81 but no road noise. Staff is friendly and check in easy. Utilities all worked fine. We were on a grassy site but most are gravel. There had been a lot of rain but the site had no puddles. If thinking about stopping here you should call for reservations. This place fills up every time we have been here. We camped at Fort Chiswell RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.
