I haven't a bad thing to say about this place. You arrive, check in, and the guy takes you to your spot, and helps you park. They have everything you need, including hook-ups on both sides in case you want to have your back window with a river view. The river is right there, with several decks that have benches where you can sit and veg. There is a nice walking path along the river, maybe a quarter mile, maybe more. There is a mix of short term folks and people who seem to spend the summer here, and maybe more. Nice club house for groups, which they allowed us to use even tho we were only 3 rigs and not the 5 they ask for. Little extras like plants on the tables, and hanging baskets. It is obvious that these folks really care about this place. The sites are pretty close, tho, gravel, level, can't complain. Friendly, good enuf for me. They've got propane, ice, club house, and showers, etc. Everything you need including fair wifi. - LeeL
Aug 2017 - $35.00
A lot of extended stay trailers here but, all in all a decent park which accommodated our 45' motor home. The staff was very friendly. We Enjoyed the river and small dog trail. There was a community fire ring. Very poor town but we went to the rain forest. - blumarlin
Aug 2017 - $37.00
This isn't a bad park, considering that Hoquiam is about as economically depressed of an old logging / seaport town as one can find. Decent group facilities, and free firewood for a big bonfire. Nice location next to river, with a walking path that follows the river for a nice long walk. Just OK cable TV (analog, not digital); very poor WiFi service (although the park was pretty much full-up); and if you have AT&T, you'll be toggling between "No Service" and one bar. - coffeetime
Aug 2017 - $25.00
Very unique location. Clean facilities, roomy sites. A great get away. Patience when driving in the loop. 42ft, including tow, fit fine. The front has the larger pull through sites. Probably easiest for first timers to park at the pub, walk back to the office, and visit your site. It is not far. - Dp26
Jun 2017 - $25.00
A GEM is correct. Older reviews stated no wifi, but now there is. Very long and beautiful asphalt trail around the lake. The campground was built with handicap in mind, and they did a great job. Asphalt RV space we had (R 10) was not real level, but we used all of our blocks on the back tires of our Class C and got it up enough to function. Water and 30 amp hookup was good. The whole park is VERY QUIET and we loved it. If there had been sewer and cable, we would never leave! - Sharon and Gary
Jul 2015 - $22.00
A real "GEM" Friendly Staff, Nice surroundings. Some sites have view of Lake. Lots of grass. Walking trail around lake. Close to Challis River. Fishing Docks on both lake and river. Verizon OK. No wifi or cable. Water and Elect. Will be back. - silverado
Jun 2015 - $22.00
The price included a senior discount for age 55 and over. There are some very good things about this park. The view is very good with water on two sides and tree covered hills behind the water south of the campground. The sites are all asphalt and fairly level. The manager and host are friendly. It is quiet, which means that it is in the middle of nowhere. The campground is clean and well kept, although there is a lot of old equipment stacked around the host's campsite. There is a mile and a half asphalt trail that goes around the lake on the north side of the campground that is excellent for walking your pets. On the down side, the showers are coin operated and the bathrooms are closed from 9 PM to 7 AM. There is hardly any shade to speak of and there is little vegetation between sites to act as a buffer. The grass is brown. I did see some watering going on, but they waited far too long to start. In their defense, this is the Washington coast, and they should be getting rain, but they haven't had any for about two weeks. There is no cable or Wifi, but we were able to get one Fox station with our antenna and we had a strong signal with Verizon. This is not a fancy park and only has 18 sites, but at $22 per night, it is not a bad value. I wouldn't want to spend a whole summer here, but it works for a few nights while exploring the Olympic peninsula. We would stay here again. - Dale07
Aug 2017 - $35.00
Absolutely nothing special about this place. Small gravel parking lot with RVs quite close together. Gas station, restaurant and espresso shop by the hotel. Train tracks within 150 yards. The train can come any time and blows the horn, even at 3am. It's noisy. Not a quiet park This place is a fair enough single night layover except it isn't really en route for that. It is not a destination. We didn't enjoy finding ourselves stuck here for a week. Left a day early just to get out. - Ken Camp
Aug 2017 - $35.00
It's fine. Good size sites and pull through. The sewer is at the far rear of the site which is a definite issue for some. The price at $35 has gone up 10% from last year and then add 12% tax on top of that. Electric OK as is water. - PALPJL
Jul 2016 - $32.00
We stayed here one night only. This is a new park and we found it because of a referral from another RV park. This park had openings, probably because it's a new park. But it seems they already have a few full-timers staying there. The park is part of a motel and you check in at the motel's front desk. Check-in was easy and the person who helped us was friendly and helpful.
The park is new, so everything is clean. The bathrooms are especially nice, modern, big shower stalls and very clean. Wifi was terrible (we never could get connected) and they had no cable. And we weren't able to get a single channel with the antennae, a first for us. But because we were there only one night, it wasn't a big issue for us. We rented a movie at the local grocery store and we were fine.
We parked in site #6, it was a pull-through right in front of the bathrooms. Unfortunately, it was also right by the railroad tracks. We only heard one train go by and it wasn't loud. But it just wasn't a pretty view at all. There were plenty of other sites where the tracks were not visible, with trees all around. Our site itself was big and roomy; no picnic tables or fire pit available that we could see.
It's right off the freeway, so it's very convenient, and it was easy to get in and out of the park.
The town is a quiet town, with quite a few restaurants to pick from. Within walking distance is a gas station, convenience store and the Fishing Hole Restaurant, which was actually very good.
Although we didn't see much of Montesano, it's a cute little town. Montesano is a fishing town and is between Olympia and Ocean Shores WA. Montesano has many outdoor activities, including camping, fishing, hunting, kayaking, boating, hiking, and bird watching.
According to the motel manager, they do plan on getting cable. But for now, my rating is due to the lack of cable and weak wi-fi. - Phil and Yo
Jun 2013 - $12.00
Beautiful state park with excellent hiking trails and lush, shady sites. Not for big rigs. There were a few 30' or larger RVs but most of the parking pads [lined with logs] are narrow but the sites are roomy and quite private. Gorgeous, well kept grounds and the lake is for non-motorized watercraft only, so quiet prevails. Excellent Verizon signal. Will definitely visit again. - mockturtle
Jul 2017 - $50.00
This is a great park and I have stayed here quite a few times. Campground is well kept and showers and bathroom are clean and usually well stocked. Pool is nice and warm and overall I enjoy my stay there except for staff in the office. On two occasions, once this year and once last year I have heard the office ladies bad mouthing me and my family. Accusing us of not registering and/or paying our fees, that my daughter's 14 year old son was her boyfriend and we were trying to get out of paying the extra fee for an adult. Both times I heard this through the walkie talkies that the very nice gentleman that tend to the campsites carry around. I would normally give this place a higher rating but the paranoia of lady in the office left a very bad taste in my mouth. - Lisa Bostwick
Jul 2017 - $43.00
This is a "resort" like I'm Brad Pitt! If you want a decent place to stay with the basics, then it is fine. They have two bathrooms in the "resort" and one of them was out of order, which left an older restroom with one dirty shower. When the shower by the pool was open it was clean, but it was "temporarily closed" of course during the morning hours, when most would want to use it. The sites are narrow, dead grass for a surface and their seemed to be no noise restriction, although they do tell you quiet time is at 10. We paid for two nights, left after one. If you are fisherman going out of Westport, then it would be a great camp site, just not fancy. Staff was courteous. Town is close, but not close enough to walk. - Pipes
Jul 2017 - $40.00
We stayed here because it was close to the ocean. It is quite a ways off the Interstate but we had no trouble getting here. The staff is friendly. We had a little trouble finding our sewer hookup- went back to the office & the lady came right out to our site. Turns out someone else was in our sewer connection instead of ours. She moved theirs to the right one & we were good to go.
They have a nice pool. It is currently heated to 86 degrees. It is cool here, highs in the 60's in July, so that is a nice temp. There is plenty of grass & walking area for the dogs. There is a big playground for the kids. They have cable & WiFi. Our site was satellite friendly. The sites are back ins. There are 4 rows of RV sites. You are parked butt to butt so if you are lucky enough to have nobody behind you when you check in you have a pull thru. It was quiet in the park except for 3:30 am on July 7th when somebody set off fireworks (not in the park), waking us & scaring the dogs. I actually saw the owner washing down the picnic tables. Now that is clean. We would stay here again. - Connie's Co-Owner
Feb 2011 - $29.00
This is the only RV park in the marina. Sites are close together and some electrical problems with out power hookup. Front row is water front. - WayWeRoll
Dec 2010 - $10.00
Rate is based on a monthly winter rate, electricity is included. The managers and staff are really nice and accommodating at the Islander. Even though this park has nice views of the Westport Marina and convenient to bike paths, waterfront shops, restaurants, and 'The Groins', the park itself leaves much to be desired. The park is old! With some updating, it could be a really nice park. The sites are situated in dirt with huge potholes, and when it rains, which is often, the whole park turns into a lake. The sites are short and narrow and there are only 2 sites that will fit the larger rigs like ours. We would only stay here again if they invested the time and resources to update this park. - JustPassinThru
Sep 2010 - $35.00
I reluctantly gave this park a 6 based on location. Professional friendly staff, good free wi-fi, and cable. The washrooms and showers, though clean, were showing the affects of a long season. Two of the three washing machines in the laundry were down for repair, not surprising in this very sandy environment. The biggest problem with this park is it was built prior to larger rigs and is VERY tight. Don't even think about extending your awning if you have a slide out. With the park only 25% full, we had no problem upon arrival or departure. However, were this park full, it would have been a nightmare with our 26' trailer and full size pickup. This park reconfigured with fewer sights could warrant an 8 or 9. While we would consider staying here in the off season, we will probably stay in another park on our next trip to Westport. - Procarver
Sep 2011 - $30.00
Old, basic campground with many permanent residents. Gravel roads and narrow sites. Selling point is location at the marina with easy access to shopping and the bay. Very friendly / helpful owner / manager. Very fast recently installed Wi-Fi. - Wandering Wishnies
Sep 2014 - $35.00
If you're going to the Blues Festival, this is the place to stay. Sites are very tight, all seem to be back-in. Staff is very friendly and I will definitely return for the festival. - Tranquilty1
Feb 2018 - $25.00
This place is a real dump of an RV park, very gross looking and run down. YES it is on the bay ocean and the jetty, but I could not recommend this to any one. Extremely run down lacking in up keep. - doit
Jul 2016 - $45.00
The ocean view spots are just steps from the beach. (The other rows are $40). This park has full hookup (sewer, water, electricity). Not all sites have a picnic table, so you have to get there early if you want to snag a table and fire pit. The RV spots are very close together. My husband said that he was able to get quite a few channels on the TV and we were also able to get cell reception with Verizon. The wireless connection was good enough to serve as a personal hotspot. The beach was far better than the beach in the town of Ocean Shores (no cars driving around).
The campground does have free showers in the bathrooms, but I didn't use the showers. I also noticed they have a laundry room, but I couldn't tell you if they work or not. Also, your first impression of the campground is not the best because it is right next door to a boarded up hotel. The entrance to the campground is in serious need of some TLC to be a little bit more inviting. I honestly almost asked my husband to turn around and take me back to town, but I'm so glad that I didn't. I loved being steps from the beach and hearing the waves crash all night. - Happy Camper 68
Oct 2015 - $45.00
It's all about the location. We were directed here by the manager of another area campground after my wife was dissapointed there was no ocean view there. This CG is right on the water, between a bay and the ocean. Miles of beach for walking. Not much appears to have changed since the last review in 2012. There is a friendly gentleman in the office that checks you in and appears to be the only person working here. A lot of deferred maintenance.however, water, 3oA, and sewer hookups work fine. No wifi or cable. If this place was full, the sites would be tight, but there are only 6 rigs here, so that's not an issue. I would come back if in the area again. - Recycled
