We have stayed here several times over the years. This was a nice friendly place years ago but they have sold to new owners. This is a trailer village now, most of the park is filled with full time residents. There used to be a gate security person watching the front gate when the office was closed, not any more. I asked in the office about the cable tv and was told that they do not have it any more because the cable company changed to digital. I went ahead and hooked up and had 75 or so channels? Why lie and say it does not work? The new office people were rude and short on personality. The office used to be a local hangout with several locals visiting and drinking coffee. The overall feeling to me is this is now a trailer park not a rv park for travelers. We camped at Pioneer Trails RV Resort in a Motorhome.

This is a beautiful RV Park with lots of spaces in the pine trees. It is on the road to Deception Pass, which is a beautiful area of Washington. The park is only a short drive from downtown Anacortes, the ferry terminals, and the stores in Mt. Vernon. It is very popular so reservations are a must. Laundry is a bit small for the size of the park - $1.75 to wash and $1.75 to dry. Very quiet and dark at night. Lots of tall trees and ferns everywhere. So peaceful. Our site was a little hard to back into and get out of, due to the trees, but the space across from us was empty, so my husband pulled into it and backed into our space. Getting out, we used the same space to pull out. We camped at Pioneer Trails RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Mt. Vernon has all the shopping you need including a mall, Target, and Walmart. There is a great fruit and vegetable stand on Burlington Avenue. Great chowder at Bob's on Commercial Avenue and great seafood at Anthony's on Q Street. Murals in town are fun to find, and ferry tours of the islands are a must. Whale watching with Island Adventures is great.

Great location. In the middle of everything we wanted to do. We stayed 5 days in a nice shaded site. The electrical power was iffy at best. Thirty amp at 107 volts. My surge protector didn't like this place. The new owner said they had a big electrical upgrade project scheduled soon. We camped at Pioneer Trails RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

We were looking for a private park where we could hook up and then leave our rig for a couple of days while we took the Jeep to Vancouver Island for a couple of days. For our needs, the rate of $55.25/night seemed steep, but it was convenient to the Anacortes ferry terminal and we could find cat care for our cats via Rover.com. The site was plenty large for our 43' rig with room for our toad next to the rig. It was quite shady with big trees and, although neighbors were close, the trees between gave more of a private feel. Since we were gone for much of our stay, we didn't see much of the campground, but our cat sitter told us that she had cared for dogs for other folks staying at this campground and that it was very nice to walk around and that the off-leash dog park was nice. We had cellular service but I neglected to write down how many bars so cannot report on that. It was definitely acceptable on Verizon. We camped at Pioneer Trails RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The ferry from Anacortes goes through the San Juan islands and the scenery is beautiful. Friends of ours took the ferry to Friday Harbor (walk-on passengers) just for the day - I think that would be a great trip. Visit Snow Goose Produce for "immodest" ice cream cones!

We stayed here for almost 6 weeks in 3 different spots. B13 was our favorite but all the spots are pretty nice although D25 was tight with just enough room to park our truck. Only negative was the cable which was weak or non-existent. Park is beautifully landscaped and well maintained and new owners seem keen to make improvements. One much needed improvement is a bigger laundry. It is way too small with only 4 machines. We camped at Pioneer Trails RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

This park is beautiful with a state park feel. Gorgeous old trees and lots of shade. Location and weather are perfect for summer visits. Quite spendy for a campground without resort type amenities such as a pool or tennis/Pickleball courts. Two things really irritated us...no cable tv unless you are staying by the month and the roads are not paved. Way too dusty. We would not stay again. We camped at Pioneer Trails RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Gorgeous setting. Lots of trees. Real camping atmosphere. Close to downtown Anacortes and, for us, ferry to Vancouver Island. Mix of sites ... some pull throughs, but mostly back-ins. We disconnected dinghy at campground entrance. Trees primarily provided privacy between sites in upper section of campground. In lower section, corral type fencing between newer looking sites. Gravel roads/sites through out. No problem maneuvering big rig. Would definitely return. We camped at Pioneer Trails RV Resort in a Motorhome.

New owners this year. Been staying at this park since 2008 about 4 times a year. Set up first time this year and left in two hours. They now have no Cable TV and internet is only one bar. Cancelled all remaining stays. Not the Park for me anymore. We camped at Pioneer Trails RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Decided to do some 'winter camping' close to home. Called and arranged to check in on New Years day and were told that the office wouldn't be open (holiday) but our site would have the water turned on for us. Pulled in and was first struck with how large the sites were...very nice. Sites are wide, and was able to park the truck next to the trailer without feeling crowded. Got settled and took the dog for a walk-about. Yes, there are quite a few full-timers, but everything was well kept and neat. No riff-raff here. Wifi was amazing....never been at an RV park where we could stream movies....very impressed. Maybe in the summer months when the place is full it might not be as strong, but who knows. Office staff are very friendly. Everything is very clean/well maintained. We will be back :) We camped at Pioneer Trails RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

We have come here for years and have seen a decrease in our enjoyment of the place. If you are just staying once and moving on you may not notice the increasing amount of long-term campers. We used to be able to call and get some of the unique and larger sites but now none are available because the "livers" are all moving into them. It's a shame because I had always enjoyed this park. Now, I am awakened every morning at 5:30 by the multiple diesel trucks starting up as people head to work. About the only place for the true vacationers to camp are the spots at the entrance and now I see these being taken over as well ( enjoy your hike to the bathrooms). This is a very nice park with no cable tv, or satellite reception due to the large trees throughout the park. When I made the reservation I requested one of the few spaces in a clearing with no trees, so I could get satellite reception. They booked me in a super site surrounded by trees. I tried my roof antenna for local tv reception, could not pull in any stations. Their cable company upgraded to digital, and they did not want to spend the money to provide digital cable throughout the park. So here we are in a very nice park with no tv service. We will not come back till they fix the problem. We camped at Pioneer Trails RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Close to Collins lake for trout fishing. In Anacortes I would recommend two great restaurants. Anthony's for great seafood, and Ciao Bella for amazing Italian cuisine.

We asked for a site where we could get Sat TV, and got it. Long, wide and level. There are many nice and cozy sites here with trees, shade, etc. Probably a site for whatever your likes are. We've been here before and will be back if in the area again. Can hear the planes from Whidby Island Naval Air Station. We camped at Pioneer Trails RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed at Pioneer Trails for 16 nights at site E-1. This site is a head in and in the trees. Sewer connection had a little high rise at the end. If satellite is important we would suggest something in the A row. Our satellite got most of the channels and local TV by antenna brought in a few local stations. The park did not have cable. WiFi was there but a little iffy at out site. The staff was great. Very helpful and knowledgeable about the area. We would recommend it highly. If you plan to stay for any length of time suggest making reservations in January. We camped at Pioneer Trails RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Good large park with plenty of room to roam. Each site is very different so it depends on which site you get. The front of the park is very wooded with lovely big trees and landscaping. The back, newer part of the park is a bit more open and just big gravel lots. All the utilities are excellent and easy to deal with. We were in B15 and right next to the wifi which worked well all the time for us. Verizon cell was good. Cable worked well and easy to deal with. There is plenty for the kids and there are plenty of kids. You can always ask to be on one of the sides or in the back away from kids but it is a big family get away type park. Good dog park. Can be dusty if you are in the middle. Good location right at the edge of town. Easy drive into town or over to Whidbey. Right off 20. July and August very full so reserve early and u can always cancel. We camped at Pioneer Trails RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Great farmers market on sat in Anacortes. Thursday 4-7 in oak harbor on the island. July and August busy with something every weekend. Take the ferry to Friday Harbor San Juan. The mopeds on the island are expensive and not worth it. If you want to drive on the island, take your car. You can see all of Friday Harbor though just walking or get a trolly or bus from the harbor.
