Nice little park. 30amp sites only. Had a very nice back-in site that was easy to get our 45' MH into. Satellite would not hook-up due to the beautiful trees all around and through the park. Wifi was adequate. No Verizon signal but there is a phone available in the lounge you can use to call anywhere in the US. Owners very nice and supportive. This is the way to see Mt Rainier! We camped at Mounthaven Resort in a Motorhome.

Have stayed here in the past, not usually during summer months. This time for family reunion. Park is clean, friendly and lots of deer passing through. The road to the Mt.Rainier park entrance runs in front of the park and there are line ups of cars going into the park, this could cause some trouble but most people are courteous and allow you in and out. Stayed in site 4 this time and it was not level but you make do. In summer and some holidays you have to book 3 days stay but it is clearly written in the web site information. Highly recommend staying here any month of the year. The sites are heavily wooded around them and there is a creek running through as well. Pet friendly as well. We camped at Mounthaven Resort in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Small, rustic park located just outside the Nisqually entrance to Mount Rainier. There are 17 rv sites, several cabins and a few tent sites. The park is nestled in the trees giving it a tranquil, woodsy feel. RV sites are all back-in, full hookup, and a mix of 20 and 30 amp sites. Interior roads are gravel and tight, with no place to turn around once you're in. All sites are packed dirt/gravel, with a picnic table and rock fire pit in the ground. We stayed in site 12, a long, double wide site (although not exactly level) which is the best site if you are in a big rig. We had no issues backing into our site with a 40' fifth wheel and tow dually. Sites vary in levelness, so you may need leveling blocks. The park is easy to miss, so keep a watchful eye out for it (read previous reviewer's post), and it's situated on a curve (this also makes it harder to pull out when leaving). The entrance is extremely narrow coming into the park, so keep that in mind when turning in off the road. The park is very quiet, but there is some noise from the neighboring road (it didn't bother us). Utilities worked well, and Verizon signal was poor. Zero OTA channels. We used the free wifi which was good but slowed when the park was full. The term "resort" is a misnomer, as there are no amenities here. There's a small building with a seating area, one private unisex bathroom, one private unisex shower, and one washer and dryer. All were functional and reasonably clean, but there is a strong musty odor that permeates the entire building. Having only one bathroom was the biggest issue here in my opinion, as there was almost always a wait to use it. Playground consisted of two baby swings and a teeter-totter. No store, ice or propane on site. Staff were helpful and informative. Daily rate includes taxes and fees, no discounts offered. We enjoyed this park and would return. We camped at Mounthaven Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Check the live webcams on the NPS website before you go to see if Mount Rainier is visible (there's usually cloud cover) and to check the visitor's center parking lot (it fills up quickly). It's best to go early in the morning on a weekday and avoid on the weekend (bumper to bumper traffic past the rv park entrance on Saturday). There's a small convenience store about 5 miles away which has ice, snacks, etc. and sells gas, diesel and propane.

Overall Rating:

This park has an enchanted forest vibe with all the trees, ferns, moss, and bushes! And, the decorative touches around the park help to make it feel special and welcoming. Very small park, with several cabins. Quiet and peaceful. Fairly spacious sites on dirt. Ample sized fire pits and picnic tables at all sites, although placed at the rear of each site and very close to those of the other sites. Makes privacy difficult while enjoying a fire, but does encourage getting to know your neighbors, which we did. No cell service but excellent wifi, which is a rarity in many RV parks. No satellite or other TV reception, and it would have been nice if the office had DVD movies for rent or borrow. The entire park is dirt (except for the playground) so when it rains, things are muddy and messy. We would definitely stay again. We camped at Mounthaven Resort in a Motorhome.

Mt. Rainier National Park is a scant 5 minute drive away and there are several restaurants in the area, as well as a couple of small town grocery stores. The County Park in Ashford is beautiful and convenient. Great place to walk our dog and it has a great playground!

If you like camping in the forest, this is the park for you! The trees towered over our coach. The picnic tables were nestled near the forest undergrowth. Due to the trees we did not set up our weather station nor satellite TV. Cell phone service is touch and go in the area at no fault of the park. Very quiet! Helpful staff. The GPS coordinates on our mapping system did not place the park in the right spot. After passing the Alexander Lodge (blue building from 1912), you will soon see the sign for the RV park 0n the right. Entrance was narrow but doable for our coach. We would definitely stay here again. Hosts do a wonderful job keeping this campground well maintained and neat as a pin. Wonderful location in a beautiful forest next to Mount Rainier. Be aware this campground is not a first class resort, but has a more rustic feel, similar to camping in a state park. No cable, no cell phone service, but the best wi-fi we've seen in a long time. We arrived a day early and they helped us out by getting us a site. We moved to our real site the next morning and everything was great. The sites are pine needles and not very level which makes for leveling problems and standing water after it rains. Most sites are surrounded by huge old trees. The next night the park lost power for approx. 4 hours. We didn't have power, however our neighbor did. I was told it was probably my rig but they would check it out. Turned out to be a bad site breaker. Was told they would replace it but no one did so we had on and off power all night. We left the next morning at 11:00 and still no fix to our problem. Just horrible service. We camped at Mounthaven Resort in a Motorhome.

Really a nice quaint little campground. We did not spend too much time there other than mornings and nights but while we were there we really enjoyed it. Our site was very long and gave us almost total privacy. It was level and easy to get in to. The check in was very easy and there was really no need to escort us since we were right next to our site at the entrance.
The wifi was the best we have had in any of to 80 campgrounds we have visited, fast and always available. Only negative was that there was no cable or OTA channels.
Very close to the entrance of Mt. Rainier National Park.
Would definitely stay again. We camped at Mounthaven Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Our experience was just the opposite of the last reviewer; we were there in August, as well, which is definitely a busy time for this busy national park; I guess we expect people to be using the campgrounds nearby. We loved the trees - gave us nice shade, and cool little 'coves' for each site. Some sites are in full sun with no trees, so my suggestion is if you're a longer rig, then ask for a site that you don't have to work around trees; we were 30' and had no trouble whatsoever backing in. Garbage was picked up twice a day; again, busy park = lots of garbage, but we saw them picking it up regularly. The two drawbacks have been stated: there's only one bathroom and one shower, but they're nice and the wait was not more than five minutes as this is a small park - there's a seating area there in the bath/laundry house where the WiFi is, so it was no big deal to wait. Two w/d's would have been nice as we had laundry to do, but the walk to any site is not more than one minute, so flipping two loads of laundry was no difficulty. And at $1.50/load, it was a real bargain. No Verizon; too remote a place - not much service in the park, either. The owners were very nice; received a couple of packages for us which was very helpful for us full-timers. The price was very commensurate for being 5 minutes outside a national park. We would definitely come back! We camped at Mounthaven Resort in a Motorhome.

This campground is a perfect example of supply and demand - high demand and scarce supply - due to its close proximity to the park entrance . In fact, the traffic congestion from the park entrance extends past this campground's main entrance. Only back-in sites are available. Our reservation was made a few months ago and we were told only 20 amps sites are available. The sites are very tight as there are plenty of trees around and challenge the driver's backup ability. This campground has one of everything - one shower, one bathroom, one washer and one dryer. The bathroom trash was always overflowing whenever we managed to get in. There are a couple of deer that come around the camp because the owner feeds them. WiFi reception is good but connection drops constantly. There is no AT&T cell reception. The nightly rate is high for the minimum amenities offered. The only bright point is the great service provided by the camp owners. We camped at Mounthaven Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

This was a great campground. It's small so make sure and make reservations far in advance. The owners were very nice and helpful. Just outside the entrance to Mount Rainer. This park is small with rough sites, a fair amount of road noise, but many nice shade trees. WiFi is available only at the shower house, but it worked well there. It is much more expensive than I think the amenities deserve, but it's right next to an entrance to Mt Rainier NP and as far as I could see, it was the best-kept park in the area, by far. A small, very wooded campground near the west entrance to Mt. Rainier. Only had one toilet and one shower for campground, which was the same location as the Wi-Fi hotspot. Sites were tight and close together but overall a quiet place to stay and convenient to the Park. Overpriced for what you get, but convenience may outweigh that for many. The owners were friendly, helpful and pet friendly. We camped at Mounthaven Resort in a Travel Trailer.

This is a very treeful park - dare I say there may be too many, in fact. There was rain on and off and it never stopped dripping from the trees. The host was a lovely man. It's easy to drive past the entrance - i.e., poorly signed. Handy for Mount Rainier - now we know why it's called that, ho ho. We camped at Mounthaven Resort in a Motorhome.
