Friends had recommended that we stay in Phase 2, which we did - sites in phase 1 have 4 rigs sharing one utility area, but there are trees in phase 1 which would probably be desirable if it was warmer. The pull-throughs in phase 2 have the utilities between two rigs so if it was full and if you both have slide-outs, you could probably easily share conversation and maybe coffee between rigs. Verizon service was good. Phase 2 was going to be closing on October 1 when they enter limited services for the winter. Our nightly rate was $0 with Thousand Trails Family Courtesy card. We camped at Thousand Trails - Birch Bay in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Drive to Artist Point for views of Mt Shuksan, Mt Baker - stop at Picture Lake for reflection pictures of Mt Shuksan. Drive up to Semiahmoo and walk around. Also visit Peace Arch in Blaine. Take advantage of produce stands for fresh fruits and vegetables. Garmin RV GPS routed us to a different RV Park when we just put in the name - seems there are two with very similar names - use address in GPS instead of name.

This is one of the best Thousand Trails we have stayed at certainty the best in the state of Washington. Unlike most Thousand Trails we have been to this one actually had gravel on the roads which helped cut down the dust considerably. We parked in phase 2 in a very large back in site that was also very level parked on gravel instead of dirt or mud and had a large grass area on each side. Unfortunately only 30 amp was available but fortunately the outside temperature was mild when were were there so that didn't become a problem and we also had sewer. We camped at Thousand Trails - Birch Bay in a Motorhome.

My contract does not say that guests must pay. My daughter wanted to walk into the park to give me a message as my cell phone was dead. She was told that she needed to pay $10. I will never recommend Thousand Trails and in fact, will tell everyone I know that this is not a friendly or family place to stay. If this had been an emergency Thousand Trails would be looking at a lawsuit... We camped at Thousand Trails - Birch Bay in a Motorhome.

Our site was large, flat and freshly mowed, no problems there. Our disappointment came when we found they had no wi-fi at the sites. We asked the question when we made the reservation and were told there was wi-fi but left out the part only by the pool. We were charged a $4.00/night resort fee. I guess they think they have resort status because they have a very plain swimming pool? When we checked in we were told there were 5 spaces to pick from but they did not have the numbers to the spaces so you had to drive around the park to see where they were. This is a first for us! There is only 30 amp service throughout the park and a $10 charge per day if you have day guests coming into the park. Overall the park is OK if you were expecting to get what was here. Definitely overpriced for the lack of amenities when you look at all the additional fees they charge and compared to amenities other parks provide for $53.00/night (includes the $4/night "resort" fee). We camped at Thousand Trails - Birch Bay in a Motorhome.

As Thousand Trails members we do not pay nightly. This is our favorite Thousand Trails resort. It is quiet, very clean, has a nice pool, there are lots of activities and the sites have large yards. The people are extra friendly and helpful. Sites are level. Dish Network and Verizon MIFI worked very well. We camped at Thousand Trails - Birch Bay in a Fifth Wheel.

Check in went smooth. Was told there is a $10 fee that everytime a visitor enters the park has to pay to visit you. This is $10 per car. If you want some one to pick you up you have to walk to the main gate in order to avoid having them pay $10 to enter the park. Ridicules. We came to this park to visit friends and we could not have them pay $10 each time they wanted to visit with us. The park is OK, many, many speed bumps. Nature trail is a 2 minute walk if even that long. Pool is very small but nicely heated. The RVs are very close unless you are lucky enough to get a backin site. Phase 2 is very open with good satellite TV. Rangers not too friendly. The $10 fee is the reason we will never be back to this park. I wish RPI would have informed us of this new rule. We camped at Thousand Trails - Birch Bay in a Motorhome.

This is a well maintained TT campground in a great location near the waterfront town of Birch Bay. The sites can be a bit close together, and the central hookups for 4 sites would be annoying if all sites were full, fortunately they were not for our visit so it was all very good. Clean bathrooms, friendly staff and a number of activities on site. Definitely worth heading in to Birch Bay, and down to the State park too for some beach front open space. Close to Bellingham if you need any supplies, and decent access into Vancouver. We camped at Thousand Trails - Birch Bay in a Travel Trailer.

Excellent Dish Network reception and Verizon wifi and phone reception. This may be our most favorite Thousand Trails. Quiet and well maintained. A good place for a base came and to travel to Canada. We will go back. We camped at Thousand Trails - Birch Bay in a Fifth Wheel.

Check-in went smoothly. We chose PHASE 2 and a back-in site which was level gravel, surrounded by grass. Utilities are well situated and easy to access. Since this was a holiday week-end there were lots of activities in the park and more in the Birch Bay and Blaine areas. We enjoyed the large site with adequate parking. The interior roads are packed gravel with speed bumps (limit is 5 MPH or 8 1/2 KMPH). This is a pleasant park, near the Canada border crossing, lots of places to go and things to do. Birch Bay Beach is a mile away and the State Park about 4 miles. Great Sunsets. We enjoyed our stay here and will return when in the area. We camped at Thousand Trails - Birch Bay in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a 1000 trails park so we had no expense. Arrived during a Canadian national holiday so were lucky to find a good site with afternoon shade in Phase II. Phase I would have been a nightmare to park in a large rig as they have 4 sites connected to same connections (water, sewer, electric) and they are very, very close together. Phase II was nice. Very friendly rangers. Will stay here again. We camped at Thousand Trails - Birch Bay in a Fifth Wheel.

Nice park. Pool, gym, adult and family lodges. Tons of space for sites in phase 2. Many activities. Friendly staff. The only complaint we had is the dumpsters were always full but we loved this park and would stay again. We camped at Thousand Trails - Birch Bay in a Fifth Wheel.

Rate is the member rate. This campground is just a stone’s throw from the Canadian Border. All the campsites sport full hookups with 35 amp electric and all are level. There are no hills in this preserve. There are actually two campgrounds that are joined by a road at the back of the property. Phase I is the original campground. It is open year round, has plenty of shade trees, and is close to the heated pool and the activity centers. The hookup situation is rather interesting. A cluster of four complete hookups are in one place. When all four are in use four campers are back to back and side to side. That means two of the campers have to pass their utilities under the camper. Because of the tall trees across the southern side of Phase I it can be rather challenging to get a satellite signal. Phase II is basically an open field with hookups. It is open in late spring through early fall. The sites around the parameter of Phase II are standard, back in sites and are, in my opinion, the most desirable. Sites that aren’t on the parameter are similar to those in Phase I except the hookup approach is for just two campers pointed in opposite directions. Satellite TV is much easier in Phase II. Because this campground is close to the border it’s likely wise to check the Canadian calendar for holidays when planning to visit. On future trips to this area we’d be glad to return to Birch Bay Thousand Trails. We camped at Thousand Trails - Birch Bay in a Fifth Wheel.

Nice Thousand Trails resort. We had a choice when we came in: large pull-through spots without trees in the farther side or treed spots, back-in spots in the near section. In the near section, 4 RVs parked together, back to back and used the same utility poles. We chose the long pull-throughs. Very clean restrooms and shower area. We did not use the pool but many others did. Good location for exploring Vancouver and the Blaine area. We would definitely return. We camped at Thousand Trails - Birch Bay in a Motorhome.

This is one of the better Washington parks within the Thousand Trails (TT) / Encore system. After visiting other TT parks in the area (La Conner and Mt. Vernon), this park clearly differentiate itself when it comes to power efficiency and interior roads. Sites are level and spacious and you don’t have to worrying about clearance issues. Phase II is the newest section and is recommended over the older Phase I area. Staff was friendly and always visible throughout the preserve. As with all TT parks, the speed limit is typically 5 mph - most parks don’t enforce this policy but Birch Bay seemed to really take it seriously. We would stay again if in the area. Rate reflects TT membership. We camped at Thousand Trails - Birch Bay in a Fifth Wheel.
