The Alder Lake campgrounds are three different and separate areas. We stayed in the Rocky Point Campground which is the smallest and has the least amount of amenities. It is located on the main road into the Longmire entrance of Mount Rainier National Park and is the closest of the three Tacoma utility campgrounds. As such there was a large amount of traffic and the site was somewhat noisy. We had a large pull through with some lake view with more than enough room including our tow vehicle. The site had electric and water which were conveniently placed. There is no sewer and no sewer dump at Rocky Point. We had no OTA television and very limited cell phone service. The lake is easily accessed but the shore is rocky and there is no designated swimming area. It is about 13 miles to the park entrance and there are several restaurants and fuel stations along this road. We would stay here again. We camped at Alder Lake Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed at Rocky Point Campground which is on Alder Lake. This campground is listed under Alder Lake Campground at the Washington State reservation site. It's a very small, 25 site campground on the south end of Alder Lake. I think we were at one of the best sites in the park as we had a nice view of the lake. One side of our site was the well house and the on the other side the camp site was so far away we could barely see it. This park is right next a busy highway so during the day it's quite noisy. Be sure to get a site away from the road. A chat with the host informed us that the only available phone or internet connections are available through Verizon. We were fortunate enough to have Verizon equipment so our services were good. While we were there, the park was only half full. The lake was also way down. You could swim in it, but there no beach as such. The boat launch wasn't usable. You could get a kayak or rubber raft off of the boat launch, but that's about it. The park has no sewer or dump station so you have to drive 4 miles to the main campground to dump. We camped at Alder Lake Park in a Motorhome.

Nice campground near Mount Rainier NP. No Wi-Fi and weak Verizon wireless connection. 9 OTA channels. Well maintained with many pull through campsites. No sewer hookups but 2 dump stations. We camped at Alder Lake Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Rating is complicated because overall the park is lovely but we unfortunately were in the Elk Plain campground which is the least desirable of the 2 campgrounds. Elk Plain is a small loop with very small and close sites... and yes, some lake views but a chain link fence and steep bank are between you and the lake so not worth it. We used our own bathroom but our site was unfortunately close to the public bathroom facility which my husband checked out and said was an awful pit toilet in need of cleaning. Saw people hold their breath and go in. Never saw a host anywhere in our 2 days. There was also garbage in our site and in our neighbor's site that should have been cleaned between renters. Another disappointment was no fire ring. Raised BBQ, but no fires. On the other hand, we walked around the Main Campground and wished we were had booked a site there. Large and nicely laid out with many pull thrus and all have fire rings. Access to the lake is an easy walk and there are accommodations for boat parking too. We camped at Alder Lake Park in a Travel Trailer.

We really like this park. close to home, clean with pleasant camp hosts. Some of the neighbors got a bit loud past quiet time, but we slept through it. The water is quite low, but is fun to explore the beaches. Going back again this weekend. We camped at Alder Lake Park in a Travel Trailer.

This is a park operated by Tacoma Power, so it's not exactly like the Washington State Parks. Price does not include $8 "reservation fee" extracted for the Online Reservation service. (But the $8 can cover multiple reservations made at the same time.) Our site was asphalt paved and was an easy back-in. While there was a downhill portion at the entry, the pad leveled out nicely once we where parked conveniently positioned for the utilities connections. We selected a site that was a short walk from the clean restroom/shower. Shower required 50 cents (in quarters) for 4 minutes. Additional 2 minutes for each additional quarter, if you put them in before the timer stops. The campsite was pleasant, and we had reasonable shade (on a hot day). (Some sites are less shady.) The park is adjacent to a reservoir that allows power boats. Our weekday, early season visit was very quiet -- but it is pretty clear that at peak times boat motor noise could be considerable. Site was shorter (length is listed in online descriptions) but quite reasonable for my Sprinter Class B (Van-type) RV. (Note: I do not tow a vehicle.) I would stay here again. We camped at Alder Lake Park in a Motorhome.

This is one of the nicest RV Parks near Mt. Rainier National Park. It's about a 25 minute drive to the National Park Gate.

This is a beautiful lake view park. It was packed over the weekend and almost empty during the week. Close to Mt Rainier national park. It is real close to the backside of Mt St. Helens national park. This park is mostly for smaller rigs and tents. Only a few sites will fit a 40'. We have a 42' and we barely fit into our site. The only sites with sewer that fit a bigger rig are in the group area. We asked if we could move there when it was completely empty. No was the answer. Against the rules. The nicer spaces by far are in the group area. The second nicest spots are for small RVs. Very nice if you have kids and a smaller rig. Lots of very nice playground equipment. We were the only larger RV in the park not in the group area. Showers very scarce if you don't bring your own. 30 amp only in the area that will fit bigger rigs. We camped at Alder Lake Park in a Motorhome.

This is a lovely glacier lake. You can't park on the lake but we had a slight view. Large park with different areas from day use to boat launch to group camping area and smaller kid friendly loops with limit facilities. No TV reception. Have to get out of the line of trees to get (satellite) Dish but it is doable. We stayed by the lake in the smaller area and got Verizon cell coverage good enough and Dish. We had the run of the park due to the last week open before the season's end. The rest of the park had limited people as well but during the summer it is crazy busy I hear. We stayed here a week to explore Mt Rainier and the area. We had no one else in our section, so it was amazingly quiet, deer everywhere and lovely. Went out on the lake with our small boat. Just stayed night by night because no one else was here. Got a senior discount of 5 dollars, we did not have sewer in our area but other areas in the woods did. All sizes and types of RV and tent sites. Staff was nice and helpful. Very secure feeling even though we were by ourselves and it was a little erie. Good internal roads, lots for kids to do and pet friendly. We camped at Alder Lake Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a campground run by Tacoma Power in Alder, WA, about 15 miles from Mt. Rainer National Park. It is a beautiful camp with clean restrooms, but only 1 shower. And the shower cost $0.50/minute for hot water. But with a senior discount, the rate was only $26. We camped at Alder Lake Park in a Motorhome.

Stayed in Elk Plain loop, narrow sites but during the week there were only 3 out of 25 sites used so plenty of room. No TV, and cell coverage patchy, but great place to stay, close to lake area. Would return if in the area again. We camped at Alder Lake Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Alder Lake Park is on a beautiful lake in a densely wooded area of Washington. All sorts of water sports are available, and the park is an easy drive to Mt. Rainier National Park. Mt. Rainier itself is visible (on clear days) over the lake from the marina area. The campground is well-maintained, with tables and fire rings at each site, but has limitations for larger RVs. The pull-through sites are the crescent type, and some are shorter than others, and some have large trees making maneuvering large rigs problematic. Also, many of the pull-through sites as well as back-ins are not level. It took us almost an hour to get our 32ft. Fifth wheel into position so it could be leveled with the many blocks and ramps I carry. I saw several class C motorhomes sitting with their front wheels up on piles a boards to get level. This park is a very popular weekend getaway, so reservations are a must on weekends. There is a very good online reservation service available. We camped at Alder Lake Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Situated on a 7-mile long lake surrounded by a lush forest, this is a peaceful, beautiful place. Campsites are reasonably placed; however roads may be a little tight for large rigs. Restrooms have only single facilities, so had to wait sometimes to shower, etc. No cell or Wi-Fi availability. Kids loved the beach and nice playgrounds. We would camp here again. We camped at Alder Lake Park in a Travel Trailer.

What a beautiful place. We thoroughly enjoyed staying here. The park was wonderful and so were the people working and staying there. Everything was spotless. We loved seeing the beautiful deer walking around the park. We can't wait to go back next year! We camped at Alder Lake Park in a Motorhome.

Stayed here over Labor Day weekend. The park was very clean. We stayed at site # 4. The pad slope was moderate, so bring some levelers or 2x4 or 2x6. The dam is at the end of the park and was nice to see one of man-made creations. The swimming area was very clean, although the water level was down, the kids still found a way to enjoy the lake. There is a steam train tour that is nearby. The park workers did a great job in keeping the place clean. I would visit this place again. We camped at Alder Lake Park in a Tent Trailer.

Awesome park. The Park is very well laid out, and has that campground feel to it. Its kept clean and there is plenty of space for bike riding and hiking. The swimming area by the lake is inviting and has picnic areas as well. A great place to take the family and also camp with friends. We camped at Alder Lake Park in a Travel Trailer.
