This is an older RV park divided into new and older areas. The older area is head to head hookups, extremely close where slides almost touch each other with full hookups. Most of these are permanent residences which look like a neglected trailer park. The old adage, the longer you stay the trashier they look with items hanging on the outside, under, on top, and all around the RV. The newer area is great. The sites are very long, wide, level, and comprised of dirt and gravel. Between the sites are grass medians with fences. The newer section appears to be recently opened. These newer sites have NO SEWER. These sites have a great view of the surrounding countryside, quiet, clean, and satellite friendly. You will occasionally hear a train, but it is of no consequence. You are close to the Yakima River. The park has no amenities: no showers, no laundry, no toilets, no dump station, and no campground office. The campground hosts meet you at the entrance to the park and escort you to your site. The hosts we met were very friendly and helpful and, for a change from other parks, enforce the written rules. We stayed here in a large fifth-wheel for a few days, and probably would stay here again if in the area. We camped at Yakima River RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This was fine for one night. They were very flexible with moving dates due to mechanical issues with RV and parking the RV kind of sticking out so that I didn't have to unhook. We camped at Yakima River RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Interesting location on working ranch so you can see horses and cattle. They have two fenced in dog areas and are very fussy about not letting dogs go to bathroom anywhere other than those two areas.

This is self-contained only campground. There are no restrooms or showers. The only place to "go" are two porta potties. Staff is extremely friendly and grounds are beautiful. Good for a one night stop and they offer a Passport America discount during the week. We camped at Yakima River RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Camped in a 37 ft Class A with a toad. Pull through space. good place for an overnight, close to the Yakama River (trout, catch and release). Gets fishermen and river rafters. Had tent space but only 1 portapotty. Don't want to repeat other reviews, site would have been close if anyone else had parked next to us. 30 amp service, Didn't hook up anything but electricity. Very tall trees surround park, no Sat service if you are on the south side. No shade in the center during the day. Would stay there again if passing through, but there are probably nicer places for a longer stay. Check out the public forest service camping on the Yakama. We camped at Yakima River RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Ellensburg has a decorated barn trail to follow, nice way to see the area. Fishing on the Yakama. Rafting too, good pull out spot just downriver from the camp site. Just down the road at I-82 is a good truckstop, food & gas, RV parking.

Date of Stay: March, 2014 - $18.00
Overall Rating:

Went with middle of the road for this small but clean and level gravel pad park. Accepts Good Sam and Passport America so we paid $17.50 which was what it is worth for a no frills park. We had water and electric hook-up only, port-a-potties near-by, no showers, no place for groups to meet, limited fire pits, tables, and a few trees. Surrounded by cows and horses so it has the scent of a farm. Train could be seen and heard from our site, TV and WiFi worked fine but we do have a booster. It's not really what I would call dog friendly as we were asked to have our pug potty only in the pet area. We requested a site next to the area so she wouldn’t have to hold it until she reached the potty area. Not sure that older dogs could hold it long enough to make it to the “area” if you stayed at the far ends. We would stay here again for an overnight but only if we could stay close to the “area” as our pug is our fur baby. We camped at Yakima River RV Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Stayed here for an overnighter between destinations. The owners were very helpful to point out interesting sights to see that we're close by. The sites are okay. I would not call it a pet friendly campground, better described as pet tolerant. You can't walk your dog inside the campground and we were asked to prevent our dog from using the grass for ANY business, which is fine, but it is difficult to explain to your dog that he has to wait until you walk across the park to the dog walk, before he can lift his leg. Quiet campground, close to the canyon. OK for one night. We camped at Yakima River RV Park in a Motorhome.

Date of Stay: June, 2010 - $26.00
Overall Rating:

The area is beautiful, the park was a bit of a disappointment. It's hard to get around in a large MH or 5th wheel and the sites are very narrow. If your rig has opposing slides, you'll be right up to the RV next door. The even numbered sites are the best, although they appear to be for longer term rentals. We camped at Yakima River RV Park in a Motorhome.

Date of Stay: June, 2009 - $28.00
Overall Rating:

I stayed her for one week in June. You self-register at the Kiosk in the front. This is not a fancy park. I enjoyed the rural feel, the quiet, the shaded spot, and the easy ride to town. There are some "semi-permanents." The "Leroy workers" mentioned by another review included some folks working on wind generation and a fly fishing guide. They were very nice and quiet. There were also recreational travelers and families. The park lies in the front of a ranch. You must walk back to the ranch house to see the tenting area, have river access, etc. There is an area with horseshoes and a volleyball net. I found good river access at two places right down the road. There are mosquitoes, but that is not uncommon for the area. The wind would keep them down. If you want fancy, this is not for you. I wanted bucolic and peaceful. We camped at Yakima River RV Park in a Motorhome.
