We loved this campground. It felt like we were staying in the rain forest of Olympic National Park! Of course that is not too far away so the description is appropriate! Definitely in the forest! Lots of tall pine and fir trees covered with moss. But the developers of this park did a fantastic job of incorporating large RV sites but keeping as many trees as possible along with shrubs along the roads and between the sites. It is beautiful! Not far from beautiful Lake Cushman and passes can be obtained for day use for a small fee. You could launch a boat, kayak, paddleboard or in warmer weather go for a swim. Hoodsport is a small town with a couple of restaurants and some shops. There is a small grocery store there too but if you want a larger store a Walmart, Safeway and Fred Myers are in Shelton just 20 miles away. Also more restaurant choices. We really enjoyed our stay here and will return. Only negative was the Verizon signal is only 2 bars and we couldn't use our satellite for TV. A few channels were available over the air but it was so peaceful we really enjoyed not having TV. There are also a few nature trails for hiking and the roads are paved and great for walking. We will return. We stayed here using our Sunrise Resorts membership. We camped at Dow Creek Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

I passed going to this campground last year because of the reviews. We were still new to this and I didn't realize the variety of "campgrounds" and honestly how incorrect the terminology is that is used to describe them. This year we decided to go ahead and try it. WE LOVED IT. We have determined our style of camping which is a place with a "camping feel" like a state park (not a parking lot) and with all the primary hook ups like 30amp+ hookups, sewer, and water. We don't have to have internet (I take my own with me) or cable. We were so pleased with this campground because the lots were huge. You felt like you were tucked into the rain forrest. There was great privacy between them and they had cable tv. On top of that they had internet for $10.95 a week and that really help when my air card had just a few bars. The staff was very helpful as well. Bathrooms were older but had been redone and were sparkling clean. The parking surface was dirt but it was hard packed and covered in needles from the trees so really was very clean and better than concrete to us. We will return to this location every year. We camped at Dow Creek Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Verizon cell signal is best but not great. Others may not pick up at all. Make sure to visit the coffee shop in Hoodsport at the bottom of the hill and Lake Cushman just past the park. Also, follow the walking trail in the park with the signs that say "No RV's" It's a tent camping area only but a beautiful walk with a great stream and bridge.

The staff burn all day everyday. They burn their trash. The large fires are left unattended. When asked management told them to stop but instead of putting it out they let it continue to burn the rest of the day unattended. Lot spacing is very close and covered/forested. Site surface is gravel featuring a picnic table. We camped at Dow Creek Resort in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

The park is shaded and beautiful. The recreation center has a dank, old, mildew smell. The few furnishings are very old and decrepit. Although the bathrooms are clean, they are also old and in need of updating. Many sites don't have a sewer connection. There isn't a sewer dump. Instead, departing rigs must find an empty site with a sewer connection and use it to empty tanks. The first one we tried to use backed up and we were stuck with sewage in the hose and no where to dump it. Bottom line - although this resort is in a gorgeous setting it desperately needs a makeover. We camped at Dow Creek Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Park host available and friendly. We have stayed here every year since 2005 so have seen improvements. Sites are good size, generally not very level, but have good separation. The showers have been, and continue to be, a disaster. A bit has been done with painting but as they say, you can't put lipstick on a pig. They now accept non-club members but at $40 per night they put themselves in competition with several local parks with nicer facilities on the canal. We camped at Dow Creek Resort in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Rate of $14 included $10 RPI, $3 “resort” fee and tax. This campground definitely has it’s good points and not so good points. Good ~ well forested with lots of mature trees – gives a feel of a state park; sites are large and private; very quiet; clean, but rundown; staff (the one guy we spoke to) was nice; sites have picnic tables and fire pits. Not so Good ~ the “clubhouse” is an old, musty single-wide trailer that just gives off an “icky” feel; the dump station (not all sites are full-hook ups) is nearly impossible to get to – a narrow road outside of the main campground that has huge potholes and standing water. We camped at Dow Creek Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

The rate is for Coast To Coast plus $2. for cable. The staff were friendly but not very knowledgeable about the area. Many sites will take large rigs. They are 2 or 3 pull thrus. There is a lot of shade. 20 sites have full hook ups with 50 amp electric and cable TV. The roads are paved and the sites are dirt with little gravel. Most sites are very wide with lots of vegetation and trees between them. It has the feeling of a state park try lay out. Our Verizon Air Card and phone worked well here. If they installed Wi-Fi and put down gravel on their sites we would rate this an 8. We would stay here again. We camped at Dow Creek Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

In the 2 years since we stayed here, the management has made many upgrades to the sites in the park. It continues as treed and beautiful but the sites have been cleared and made very acessable. The cable TV in our site (2) was the best I've had in terms of quality and selection in all the camping we've done in the past 2 years. With WiFi it would be a 10 We camped at Dow Creek Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

An older eclectic rv park. Staff was very helpful. After I found a site we liked, and found we couldn't open our slides, they came with a chain saw and lopers and cleared away the brush so we could open our slides. Heavy brush separates each site. Near scenic Hoodsport WA. We will visit again. We camped at Dow Creek Resort in a Fifth Wheel.
