$50 for a site with no hookups and mediocre facilities? Sorry, I don't like being ripped off, and that's what we felt our experience there was. Our son made the reservation for two sites, and we owed an additional $50 per site upon arrival. This is an overused and antiquated state park. It is apparently the only park up the road to the Staircase area that takes reservations, thus it nonetheless is usually full during the summer. We were in the north loop, which, to be fair, has nicely laid out sites with adequate space. Only one pay shower for the entire loop. Bathrooms were adequate but were resupplied. There are nice hiking trails and access to Lake Cushman, which is a beautiful lake. In the future, we would opt for another campground, just up the road. Much more reasonable and probably better managed and maintained. We camped at Skokomish Park at Lake Cushman (formerly Camp Cushman) in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

Don't want to be overly negative, but this was a very disappointing park given the average review. The difference may be due to the fact that we traveled in a larger rig (40 ft MH) and we really don't care about lake access. We were there to be closer to hiking in the Olympic staircase region. We had pull through site 1 which was difficult to get into, had lousy 30amp power (our EMS cut out 3 times because power fell below 105v), was difficult to level, and was very smoky from campfires. Very congested although our pull through site was shaded and more private. Staff was friendly, but charged us a $10 early check in fee because we got there at 1pm but their check in is 4pm. The bath facility is terribly dated, not very clean and only 1 shower for the entire loop. On one weekend day we walked to their beach area and it was like a beach outside NYC-packed with a lot of day use people that come to get out of the Tacoma/Seattle heat. Next time we will stay clear of this campground. We camped at Skokomish Park at Lake Cushman (formerly Camp Cushman) in a Motorhome.

Nice park in a very wooded area. Nice walking trails and very close to the beach. Close to Staircase entrance of Olympic National Park. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Lots of tent campers too so campfire smoke is heavy in the evenings. We camped at Skokomish Park at Lake Cushman (formerly Camp Cushman) in a Motorhome.

This was our first outing in our new trailer! The park is very nice and there are a lot of easy hiking trails around the park and around the lake. The pull through site we stayed at was very spacious and had 30A full hookups but had one downside. There was a tree in the way of our awning so we had to park further back than other sites which caused our waste hose to be running uphill, which doesn't work too well. Aside form that one hiccup everything else was great, all the sites in our loop were clean and spacious from what we could tell. The person at the check in window was extremely friendly and helpful as well. We will be going here again! We camped at Skokomish Park at Lake Cushman (formerly Camp Cushman) in a Travel Trailer.

Super nice people, cute little store. Hook ups need to be updated but are functional. We stayed in space 16. 19 is better. We camped at Skokomish Park at Lake Cushman (formerly Camp Cushman) in a Motorhome.

This is a really nice park right on the lake and hiking trails and not far from town. Spots are large. Park was quiet and clean. They have a really nice general store with friendly and helpful staff. They also rent bikes, kayaks, rafts, etc. My major complaint is that there is only one shower per gender in the entire park. This is an former state campground that has been taken over by a local Native American tribe. The park is very nice and very big. Great lake access, nice large sites and very helpful staff. They even have a small store. There are lots of hiking/biking trails, boat launch and kayak/paddle board/mountain bike rentals. The scenery is breathtaking. Well worth the trip. When you leave and head back into Hoodsport, stop and get ice-cream. I would go back just for that. It's that good!

This is a very well maintained park. It's obvious attention is paid to the grounds. Sites were clean, picnic tables in good condition and nice fire pits. In "season" there are lots of water activities available on Lake Cushman. Movies in the evening as well. Great location for exploring western side of Olympic National Park and Hood Canal area of WA. Would stay here again. Park has been renamed Skokomish Park since it is now operated by the Skokomish tribe. Friendly helpful staff and on-site park ranger. This park has changed its name to Skokomish park and has been bought by the Skokomish Indian Tribe and reopened. Nice shady sites close to the water, full hookups and nice clean sites. They have added a theatre and have movies at night, cars 2 was playing when we went, we didn't go watch though. The rangers are very helpful and checked on us at least 5 times when we were there for only two days to see if we needed anything. Nice quiet park. Contract managed, but owned by Tacoma Public Utilities. There is a very good swimming hole off the colder deeper lake, trails for walking, and it is not far from either Staircase or Hoodsport. Sites do not drain well in wet weather, but the parking pads stay above the high water mark. We camped at Skokomish Park at Lake Cushman (formerly Camp Cushman) in a Fifth Wheel.
