Mostly permanent residents I think. Sites are close together. Internet is crap. The managers are angels. The service is beyond belief. You drive in and they lead you in to your site, and help you get set up. I've seen them loan out a sewer hose for someone that had a site too far away. Gordon is the RV fixer and he is the kindest man and he knows so much about RV repair. We had a problem with our landing jacks and he fixed it when we brought in a new motor, and charged us very little. Bless you Gordon! Add fresh-backed cookies when you arrive. The place isn't perfect, but the people are! There is an RV repair/store in Ocean City, just before you get to Ocean Shores. They had a part we needed. Expensive, but it had what we needed. We camped at Hoquiam River RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Nice park well maintained on a river with otters. Flowers at each site. We were able to have packages sent there. Everybody was very friendly and helpful. Lovely path along the river. No camp fires but a central fire pit area with wood available free. Sites close together . They escort you to your site though. We will be back for a longer visit. We camped at Hoquiam River RV Park in a Motorhome.

Nice hearing from you, Roamer. We're delighted you stayed with us and even got to see some otters. So glad you explored the nature walk and hope you got to sample some of our blackberries. We look forward to seeing you again and wish you happy travels.

This is our third visit to Hoquiam River RV Park and each time we return, we are made to feel like family. The managers go out of there way to assure everyone enjoys their visit. On the not-so-great side, the sites are very close together; but on the positive side, you are right on a tidal river and the path, along the water, leads back to a lovely, dark woods with lots of berries for picking. You'll find benches, spaced nicely along the river front, so you can sit, relax and watch for otters at play. The club house is very nice, the laundry and showers are super clean and there are always fresh cookies waiting for you in the office. But, for my money, the best part about the place is the extensive flower pots, brimming with beautiful blooms in every color of the rainbow. A nice touch that reminds you, these folks truly care about their park and want you to feel the same. Note, the $17 rate is for a month (without taxes). We camped at Hoquiam River RV Park in a Motorhome.

Ruby Beach, Olympic National Park, the Hoh Rainforest and the Quinalt Rainforest are within an easy drive. The town of Westport, on the other side of Grays Harbor, is a nice visit, especially for fresh seafood. The Westport Lighthouse is a must visit while you're there.

Hi Tessa and Toadee,
Thank you for your kind words and the good news of how much you enjoyed your stay. I'll be sure to pass along your comments to our managers as you hit the nail on the head: they DO try to make guests feel like family and they DO care about the park. It's really encouraging to hear people recognize those things. Hope to see you again next year and that all your travels are just as pleasant.

The park itself is good, but the people make it great! We stayed for a week in our motorhome with our dogs and had a fantastic time. The managers were super helpful and friendly and everyone from, the long term residents to the people staying for one night, were also very friendly. The river flowing at the back of the park is beautiful and the 9 acres of trails next to the park gave both us and the dogs a good place to exercise. Although it is next to Rt. 101 there is no road noise and no railroad trains going through at night with their horns blowing. The voltage stayed good even thought we were using up to 50 amps at times. Definitely recommend this place for anyone with a big rig. We camped at Hoquiam River RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Hoquiam River does not have much to do, but the coast is close and there are a lot of places to go to enjoy the ocean. Try Copalis beach for a great hike. Lake Quinalt is also a must see in the area and if you do go there, leave enough time - 1.5 hr - to drive all the way around the lake. The rain forest is spectacular.

So thank you for staying with us and for taking time to review us. May you and your dogs have many more miles of happy "rolling."

I haven't a bad thing to say about this place. You arrive, check in, and the guy takes you to your spot, and helps you park. They have everything you need, including hook-ups on both sides in case you want to have your back window with a river view. The river is right there, with several decks that have benches where you can sit and veg. There is a nice walking path along the river, maybe a quarter mile, maybe more. There is a mix of short term folks and people who seem to spend the summer here, and maybe more. Nice club house for groups, which they allowed us to use even tho we were only 3 rigs and not the 5 they ask for. Little extras like plants on the tables, and hanging baskets. It is obvious that these folks really care about this place. The sites are pretty close, tho, gravel, level, can't complain. Friendly, good enuf for me. They've got propane, ice, club house, and showers, etc. Everything you need including fair wifi. We camped at Hoquiam River RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

A lot of extended stay trailers here but, all in all a decent park which accommodated our 45' motor home. The staff was very friendly. We Enjoyed the river and small dog trail. There was a community fire ring. Very poor town but we went to the rain forest. We camped at Hoquiam River RV Park in a Motorhome.

Thanks for taking time to write a review, Blumarlin. The town has suffered through the economic downturn, but we're happy to report things are beginning to turn around. There are a number of sights in the Grays Harbor area, and we like to think of ourselves as offering a sheltered base to explore the Olympic peninsula as you did, as well as the Ocean Shores and Westport areas. We just finished developing the walking trail last year, and it's good to know people are enjoying it. Hope you stay with us again.

This isn't a bad park, considering that Hoquiam is about as economically depressed of an old logging / seaport town as one can find. Decent group facilities, and free firewood for a big bonfire. Nice location next to river, with a walking path that follows the river for a nice long walk. Just OK cable TV (analog, not digital); very poor WiFi service (although the park was pretty much full-up); and if you have AT&T, you'll be toggling between "No Service" and one bar. Tips for other Campers:

Not much within walking distance, and given that it's Hoquiam, not much within a 10-minute drive, either. Aberdeen is east of Hoquiam, and they have shopping, a Starbucks and - shock - a Tesla Supercharger lot! Check out nearby Ocean Shores and the upscale Seabrook community in Pacific Beach.

Here's another park that we haven't been to in eight years. We have been staying closer to the coast or in the I-5 corridor in recent years. Although most sites are back ins, we managed to get one of the 20 or so FHU, pull through sites in the middle of the park for our one night stay. Most sites are back ins around the edge of the park. The sites do not have a lot of space between them. Our site had cable TV but we used our DirecTV instead. Their Wi-Fi was adequate for our minimal (e-mail and web surfing) needs. There isn't much in the way of recreational (ie: no pool) amenities making this park unattractive to families. Like our last visit, I found the park almost too quiet. The bathroom facilities and laundry are OK. I saw no recycling. Another negative for us is that the park is not within walking distance of local stores or eateries. We camped at Hoquiam River RV Park in a Motorhome.

Large pull thru. All hook-ups were convenient and worked. Satellite worked good. T-Mobile was not good at the rv park but just a couple of blocks away it worked great with 4G LTE. Best phone service right in the RV park seemed to be Verizon. The folks here are incredibly friendly. Yes there are some long term residents but no problem for us. We did like the Hoquiam River being right there and the little observation platforms can be a nice place to enjoy a morning coffee. The restrooms were updated with modern toilets that worked extremely well. This park is convenient for many beaches and the South end of Olympic National Park is about an hour drive. Be sure to make a reservation before you show up...the place is full. A normal mixture of Class A and fifth wheel. Also the tent camping right next to the river looked appealing. This park shows some love from the people running it and they even had stacks of free firewood to use in the central fire ring. We like this place a lot. We camped at Hoquiam River RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

many beaches available. Also Lake Quinault was about an hour drive North and that was beautiful. The temperate rain forest was wonderful. Kind of a photographers dream. Some of the beaches allow vehicle traffic right on the beach. That was a good experience. Huge beach areas. Shopping right in Hoquiam for groceries was very good at Swanson's.

So glad you spent some time with us and got to see the otters. We're working on being a destination-type park providing a central base to access both the Olympic peninsula to the north and to Westport and Ocean Shores to the west. It would be a pleasure to host you again and wish you happy and safe travels. Thanks for taking the time to write a review.

Owners are wonderful, friendly and helpful. Customer service can make or break a stay in an RV park.

A special note, the owners used to own an RV repair service. We had a problem with our furnace which was finally resolved (after trying several repair services while on the road). We had a nice site with a view of the tidal river and used the riverside trail with our dog. We camped at Hoquiam River RV Park in a Motorhome.

Located on the bank of the Hoquiam River, nice trail that follows the river, lots of blackberries to pick! Staff were friendly and eager to provide advise. WiFi was spotty (always seemed to be kicking me off, even at 2AM), lots of daytime users.

Nice concrete pad (with small amount of grass), the rest of the park is gravel. Mostly full time residents, looked like 6 to 8 sites are for transients (we stayed one week). Not too much to do in the town, traveled to Quinault Rain Forest for some nice hikes; drove to Pacific Ocean for spectacular views of the bay and ocean. We camped at Hoquiam River RV Park in a Motorhome.
