A real "GEM" Friendly Staff, Nice surroundings. Some sites have view of Lake. Lots of grass. Walking trail around lake. Close to Challis River. Fishing Docks on both lake and river. Verizon OK. No wifi or cable. Water and Elect. Will be back. We camped at Friends Landing in a Fifth Wheel.
Tips for other Campers:
Might be tough to get site when Salmon in River. Boat ramp and fishing docks.
The price included a senior discount for age 55 and over. There are some very good things about this park. The view is very good with water on two sides and tree covered hills behind the water south of the campground. The sites are all asphalt and fairly level. The manager and host are friendly. It is quiet, which means that it is in the middle of nowhere. The campground is clean and well kept, although there is a lot of old equipment stacked around the host's campsite. There is a mile and a half asphalt trail that goes around the lake on the north side of the campground that is excellent for walking your pets. On the down side, the showers are coin operated and the bathrooms are closed from 9 PM to 7 AM. There is hardly any shade to speak of and there is little vegetation between sites to act as a buffer. The grass is brown. I did see some watering going on, but they waited far too long to start. In their defense, this is the Washington coast, and they should be getting rain, but they haven't had any for about two weeks. There is no cable or Wifi, but we were able to get one Fox station with our antenna and we had a strong signal with Verizon. This is not a fancy park and only has 18 sites, but at $22 per night, it is not a bad value. I wouldn't want to spend a whole summer here, but it works for a few nights while exploring the Olympic peninsula. We would stay here again. We camped at Friends Landing in a Motorhome.
We were delighted when we arrived at this park. The sites are paved and very large. The park has a nice picnic area, boat launch ramps, fishing piers, and playground. The staff was friendly and helpful. The property is well maintained. The park overlooks both a lake and a river. Beautiful setting, beautiful sunsets. Can't say enough about this park. We camped at Friends Landing in a Motorhome.
