Date of Stay: April, 2018 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed at this park in mid-September 2017 for a long weekend as well as two weeks in April 2018. The big differences were that the NAS jets don't fly on the weekends - or at least not as much - and the water pressure was not as strong in April. We thought at first maybe it was us, but the cold water pressure was good sometimes and a trickle other times, usually somewhere in between - and we've had great pressure at the next two parks. I felt like the jets weren't a big deal except that we both work and trying to have a conference call with jets flying 500 feet above you is difficult at best. Luckily, we have very good noise-cancelling headphones that helped. Other than those two issues, we think the park is lovely and well-kept. We were able to work using either our internet or the park's - we did use our WeBoost and were only able to use our Verizon phones with WiFi. Texting was fine. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. If you can be patient with the water pressure and don't have to work or have noise-cancelling headphones for phone calls, give it a try! We camped at North Whidbey RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

You're right across the street from Deception Pass State Park, down the road from the bridge and a short walk to Seabolt's famous and awesome fish and chips. Oak Harbor is a short 15 minutes away for groceries and restaurants. We highly recommend the Island Cafe for breakfast.

Overall Rating:

We stayed for a week and got a small discount based on the longer stay. Sites were very close together and the park had a lot of noise from fighter jets flying over. But it was very convenient to Seattle and Olympic National Park. Located next to Deception Pass State Park and easy to get to hiking trails. Shopping close by on Oak Harbor. We camped at North Whidbey RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

A very nice, albeit, somewhat cramped campground. In the flight path of Naval Air Station, Whidbey Island. F-18s make an awful lot of noise. Drive south on Washington route 20 from Anacortes, WA, over the Deception Pass (2 bridges). Huge sign on left at traffic light, easy to find. Owned and run by sisters, very friendly and helpful. Credit cards accepted. CG roads are asphalt in good condition, sufficiently wide with gentle turns. Most sites are angled back-in on narrow asphalt, most long enough for big rigs. No overhead or turning obstacles. FHU-20/30/50 with all utilities at or near the rear. Sewer connection at ground level. Roof mounted satellite antennas have no problems with reception. Earth is packed clay so no grass or landscaping between sites. No patio. Nice picnic tables and fire rings. Firewood sales at $5 for a nice sized bundle. Strong water pressure and taste. No office store. Restrooms/showers not inspected. Propane available at $3/gallon. Laundry. Okay playground. Cable TV. Free Wi-Fi with good connections and "ok" bandwidth. This CG is in a Verizon deadzone - zero bars. No traffic noise (just the airplanes). Bug Report: tree wasps (look like bees) but no issues. No recycle bins. We camped at North Whidbey RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

About 9 miles south to Oak Harbor. Nice town with most amenities. Applebees was only major restaurant chain noted. Most fast food chains. Walmart (not a super-store). Home Depot. Nor'West Mobile RV repair. Safeway and local groceries. Diesel varies between $2.44 to $3.00 per gallon. Banks and credit unions (including NFCU). Assorted churches. Camping World in Burlington, WA, about ½ hour drive, back towards I-5, exit 261.

Overall Rating:

This seemed like an old campground because the sites are very tight and the roads are difficult to navigate for bigger campers. Everyone had to park there cars at the end of the sites and some were partially in the roads. The pad for the camper was just wide enough for the wheels to remain on it. The campground is built on a hill so the back end of the camper was pretty high off the ground. Sites were not huge but we did have enough room to have a little privacy. The wifi worked okay but the cable had limited channels.

Their website does tell you about the jets overhead. They are loud. We must have been lucky because they were flying when we arrived but did not fly the rest of the weekend. Others said the night before they were flying until 11:30 at night.

We probably would not stay again because of the jet path. We camped at North Whidbey RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed in a back in site which had more room than many of the pull-throughs. The campground was pretty clean and very convenient to the Deception Pass State Park's many trails. There is no Verizon service in the campground but good wifi and a larger than usual fenced dog area. They have a $2 per day pet fee. We camped at North Whidbey RV Park in a Motorhome.

Really a very nice RV park! Located just over te Deception Pass Bridge, and across the street from Deception Stae Park. Welcoming staff, easy check in. Sites are level, paved and pretty roomy. We easily fit our car and rig in. Some sites are pull through ( not ours). We could not get satellite because of a tree, but cable was adequate. Wi Fi was horrible, but in all fairness, our Verizon hot spot barely worked, and we could not make outgoing calls. Naval Air Station is nearby which may screw up the satellite reception. Once we got into Oak Harbor, phone service was fine. AND on the topic of NAS, during the week you hear one navy jet after another, but we heard none on the weekend. The laundry room is very small- 3 washers and 3 dryers. Challenge getting laundry done, but it was a clean area and reasonably priced. Nice park and we would stay here again. We camped at North Whidbey RV Park in a Motorhome.

This park was satisfactory except for the lingering smell of sewer gas. We were not sure where this smell originated but it was there for three days. We had a back-in site that was just long enough for our trailer and truck. This paved site had E/W/S and cable tv with the pedestal conveniently located. However, there are a number of pull-through sites around the outside row that are too short. We watched a number of big rigs drive on the grass, the neighbour's pad, and the edge of the road to get positioned so their slides did not hit the services pedestal. We would stay here again. We camped at North Whidbey RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

From here we visited Deception Pass State park; Oak Harbour marina, a bookstore, and an excellent seafood restaurant (Seabolt's Smokehouse); Coupeville outdoor market, lavender shop, bookstore, marina, and many neat old buildings; and Greenbank Farm with a small cafe serving fresh pie and several galleries in the old farm buildings.

First we were booked 10 days at Deception Pass State Park, when we realized we had no sewers, TV or internet. We were able to cancel and get a spot here, we do not regret it. Some sites are small but there is ample parking. The park is under new management and has improved over the last reviews. Everything has a fresh coat of paint, very nice dog park, new fire rings and new picnic tables. The grounds, laundry and restrooms are clean and orderly. The staff is friendly. The internet is like any other RV park, just ok. However the only thing that needs major work is the cable tv reception, on the site we had it was intermittent. We spoke with the manager and she was aware of the problem and was working on it. Keep I mind this place is less expensive than the state park. We camped at North Whidbey RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Price is based on monthly rate. As others have said, the park is conveniently located near Deception Pass, which is a big tourist attraction. The office staff was friendly and helpful. Laundry room was clean. We didn't visit the rest room/shower. The park is easy in/easy out and there are sites that are big rig friendly (at least 41' friendly). The sites are narrow with asphalt, but many of the sites have cracked asphalt and many are not level. There were many RVs with their wheels hanging in the air or on blocks. There are some 30 amp only sites and there are some that have both 30 and 50 amps. There is a fire pit at each site and many of the well-worn wooden tables have been replaced. It appears they're replacing the tables a few at a time. Much of the grass in the park is brown, but staff are attempting to beautify the grounds with plants. The infrastructure in this park is degrading. The cable in many of the sites doesn't work. When we inquired about it at the office, the office person said “Yes, we know about it, but there's nothing we can do about it.” We were unable to get a Verizon cellular signal while in the park. That's not the park management's fault, the park is just in a bad location for cellular. We did, however, have an excellent Sprint data signal. The park WiFi is terrible. You're given codes to enter in order to access the internet, but it disconnects often and then you have to re-enter the codes. They do have a notice in the office that states “We can't guarantee the park WiFi.” If you're someone who depends on park WiFi, don't count on this park to provide it. When we asked to have the router reset, the person in the office said she didn't know how to reset it. There were several days/nights when the planes from the naval station were very loud. They usually stopped flying around 11 p.m. We camped at North Whidbey RV Park in a Motorhome.

This park is $30 a night with a Good Sam discount. It is conveniently located when exploring Whidbey Island; especially Deception Pass. It is a nice setting with fairly wide room between sites. The office staff is friendly and helpful. The only reason I have scored it with a 6 is that this is one of the very few places where I could not get Verizon cell phone or email service. I had to go 5 or so miles down the road in either direction. There is free WiFi and cable TV but neither work well. Luckily we had a spot where our satellite dish worked. We probably will not stay here again due to the cell and WiFi reception. We camped at North Whidbey RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Rate reflects GS. We spent three nights here while visiting relatives who live in Oak Harbor. It is a drive down to town, but the best around if you can't get in o the one in town. The sites are very narrow. You have to step out into the grass, not extra pavement. Picnic table at each site. The sites were level, and not too close together. Restrooms and showers were nice, except, no shower curtain between the shower and the dressing area for the shower. Very nice people in the office. She switched sites from the one we originally reserved, when I mentioned my wife was a light sleeper. Very thoughtful. Talking to my relatives, the planes go over very irregularly. We had no problem while we were there. They said that sometimes it is a real nuisance, even to them. All in all, not too bad a place. Location near Deception Pass is nice. We would stay here again. We come back to this park all the time because of the nice grassy sites with nice fire pits. No one tells us when we have to put our fire out and go to bed. The back of the park has green grass with trees behind, but also nice paved streets for our kids to ride bikes, rollerblade etc. Kid friendly. We camped at North Whidbey RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

This was a nice well maintained park. The paved parking sites are long and narrow, but the site itself had good outside space. Right across the street is Deception State Park, a great place to walk pets. I didn't find the occasional plane flying over to be an issue. The satellite and Verizon air card worked well here. I would stay here again. We camped at North Whidbey RV Park in a Motorhome.
