This park is very wooded so not satellite friendly with the exception of the sites in a field on the back of the park but everything else about this park will make a visit to it pleasant. The staff is helpful the roads are paved and the sites are roomy, it has a pool a laundry, propane available and a well stocked store. easy access to I-5 We camped at American Heritage Campground in a Motorhome.

Stayed 2 nights in August 2017. Park was not full. Friendly people, good service and pride of ownership shows. Huge trees, spacious lots, good wifi, nice pool all well kept. Highly recommend this park! We camped at American Heritage Campground in a Motorhome.

Date of Stay: August, 2017 - $33.00
Overall Rating:

Our visit was a 1-nighter, in-and-out. We've been here before. $33 rate is for water/electric, only. First Impression: Most sites deep in the forest and I do mean DEEP. Welcoming entrance. Safety: Peaceful, no concerns. Access: exit 99 off I-5, head east towards Pilot Travel Center then about a ¼ mile further, turn right on Kimmie Street. Adequate signs, access road in satisfactory condition, Garmin GPS is accurate. Office: Super friendly staff, outstanding store with snacks, food items, RV equipment items, and assorted sundries and necessities. Credit cards accepted. Online reservations NOT available. Active duty military discount. Facilities: Heated pool. No spa, fitness room or rec center. Laundry room. Restrooms/showers appear to have been renovated. New appliances but grout on tiled shower stall walls showing mold. Wimpy but acceptable water pressure (score "B"). Propane sales. No playground. No off-leash dog run. Campground: Not in a flood plain. No storm shelter. Heavily wooded. Interior roads are one-lane, narrow, asphalt in good condition but you weave around mature trees; watch for overhead branches. Turning and backing very challenging for long rigs and coaches. Prevosts? Don't even try. Tent area but no yurts. There are some cabins for rent (see web site). Sites are all spacious, level (but some sites "in the field" are tree-rooted and not level), dirt, all back-in, no landscaping. Utilities at rear to mid-rig with FHU-20/30 (no 50A); no meters. Adequate water pressure with good taste. No patios; most sites have useable picnic tables. Fires in pits, only. Terrible satellite views. No cable TV. Free Wi-Fi near office, only. Verizon phone at 4 bars; 4G at 3 bars. No recycle bins. Noise: No railroad, aircraft, traffic, or interstate noise. Bug Report (late August): black ants. Runners: CG roads ok for running. Yoga: no really good place for your mat. Conclusion: Score 6-Nice. We camped at American Heritage Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

What a great find! This is what you'd like to have in a national park; large trees, lots of space between sites, and with power, water, and sewer. We were screened from other sites by trees and bushes for lots of privacy. If you prefer open spaces, there were some sites in an open, grassy area that looked nice also. The office staff was very friendly and helpful. We camped at American Heritage Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Check out Sandstone Distillery just south of Millersylvania Park. Bacon Whiskey. Spent mash feeds the pigs, pigs provide bacon for flavoring, perfect cycle.

Not your typical RV park. Friendly staff, sites not on top of each other, away from the highway and very very quiet. Yes the roads are narrow and the sites irregular and not paved or concrete. No cable or WIFI here either. But the staff know their facility and will match you to a compatible site. Park is in grove of tall fir trees and shaded so the feeling is much more camping than being in a RV parking lot. Went back again for another night and this is permanently on my favorites list. We camped at American Heritage Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Waterfront in Olympia makes a good walk with nice upscale restaurant. Also the park in Tumwater alongside the old Olympia Brewery is a nice scenic walk.

Price included 2 extra adults at $10 @ per night & a military discount. This cg set the bar for any other place we stay. Beautiful private sites, near the hwy but barely heard any noise. Super nice owners, friendly, emailed back & forth before arrival & were helpful selecting site as this was our first trip. Nice clean restrooms/showers with hooks & bench. I even was allowed to lock up the laundry room when I started late in the evening. Private sites with enough forestation that the people next door were barely apparent. Strictly enforced security--no one is permitted to just drive by without a park pass in the windshield. (I actually read a complaint 'review' by someone who 'used' to camp there that he was put out--that review shouldn't even count since they didn't actually camp. clearly signed that passes are required & they are given free for 'lookers'.) This place is so fantastic I am surprised we were able to reserve a site. It is convenient to travel the lower part of the state like Mts Rainier & St Helens & Seattle. (see tip). We wished we lived closer so we could stay here often It rivals any state park for a natural setting. They have a hayride for the kids every evening, a beautiful fun looking playground, clean pool & kids are free to ride their bikes like cars dont exist (be mindful of the speed limit). Dump station available. Maybe a sign is in order to not block it while hooking up your towed vehicle while others are waiting to dump. We camped at American Heritage Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Close enough for day trips to Mt Rainier, Mt St Helens, Seattle, lower Olympic Park, coast-- all within 1.5 hr drives. If going to Seattle go to Bremerton and take the ferry. Nice ride! Use EXTREME caution near the truckstop/convenience store at the end of the road entering the campground. Big Trucks & other vehicles will pull out or cross in front of you with careless abandon.

Most of this CG is in a forest. Sites near south end have big meadow at rear. Take exit 99 off I-5, go east ¼ mile, turn right to end of road. Good signage. Access roads are local, municipal, asphalt, in good shape. CG now open year-round. Friendly front desk staff. Credit cards accepted. Tent camping is seasonal, one rustic cabin, no yurts. CG roads are asphalt in good shape but very narrow and winding through trees. Very tricky for long trailers. Long coaches should not attempt. Old, tall trees with heavy underbrush but no significant overhead obstacles, sharp turns. Sites are FHU-20/30, most without sewer but CG has a dump station. Sites are dirt or grass (in the meadow), level with pedestal near rear. No patio, some picnic tables. Satellite view good in meadow sites. Meadow sites have fire rings. Low water pressure with "ok" taste. Well stocked office store. Restrooms/showers are clean but aged, hot water but low pressure (score "B"). Propane at $2.19/gallon. Laundry. No playground. Big pool, open seasonally. No cable TV or Wi-Fi. Verizon coverage at "5-bars"; Jetpack 4G coverage at "4-bars". Quiet CG. Bug Report: no insect issues noted. No recycle bins. We camped at American Heritage Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Exit 99 has multiple gas stations. Diesel at $2.649. Drive north on I-5 to route 101 to Black Lake road for national and local restaurants and fast food. Groceries. Diesel (Shell) at $2.459. Banks. Capital Mall for Macy's, Penneys, Best Buy, Outback Steakhouse, Olive Garden, Applebees. Did not notice any RV stores near the mall. Home Depot.

This a beautiful wooded park more along the lines of a state park than your typical RV parking lot. While someone complained about big rig access, there are plenty of them here parked among the trees. Nice long deep sites with tables and fire pits. There are some nice spots in a huge open grass field with easy satellite access if you just can't live without celebrity worship shows and soaps. There are some TV channels available over the air.
There is a nice large swimming pool and a decent stocked store with purchase of firewood available. Staff was very helpful and friendly. 4 bars on Verizon so our WiFi-in-Motion worked very well at 30 mbps. Wifi is available near the office but we didn't try it. Laundry room advertised new washers and dryers but we didn't need them. We camped at American Heritage Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Came in late at night and it was very dark. Only a bad thing if you're parking a rig. Sites were pleasantly isolated with thick vegetation. Very private. Also had many amenities, pool, propane, laundry and a nice dump station. Stayed one night on our way to the Pacific. Would stay again. We camped at American Heritage Campground in a Motorhome.

We arrived late and found they'd posted our site reservation info, as promised, on the outdoor bulletin board. Dense Douglas Firs lend a lovely forest vibe to this park. It was quite dark when we got there, but we found our spot, which was in close proximity to the restroom/shower building. In the morning, we found the restrooms and showers to be clean and in good order. We camped at American Heritage Campground in a Motorhome.

This is an RV park in the trees and should not be advertised as "Big Rig accessible". Our 40' motorhome could barely manage to navigate the asphalt road through the trees to a call field where we could park. We had 30 amp service only and parked on grassy gravel. We could neither use our OTA antenna or our DirecTV due to the trees around us. The gentleman on a bike who guided us to our site was bossy and rude. He was irate that we could not follow his bike route through the asphalt trail exactly, even though we were almost 13' tall and 40' long. We will never stay here again. We camped at American Heritage Campground in a Motorhome.

This looked like an old KOA campground and at one time was probably a very nice park. It now has some permanent residents and the facilities are just OK. The pull through sites were grass and fairly level, we had poor WIFI coverage but it was much better in the Game Room at the office. The staff was friendly and accommodating. We stayed at this location for 4 nites as we visited the Seattle and Olympia area. We camped at American Heritage Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a beautiful and clean campground, and the owners couldn't have been any more helpful or gracious. The interior roads, while paved, are tight. While the individual sites, set among towering Douglas Firs, are deep, positioning your RV may take a little time if you are dealing with slides. But the end result will be more than worthwhile! We would not hesitate to stay here again if in the area. We camped at American Heritage Campground in a Motorhome.

Stayed a week and had a wonderful time. Campground staff could not have been friendlier and they work hard to make this campground a wholesome, family campground. It is not a campground with satellite TV because it is for families that want to go camping, not sit in front of a television. There is limited Internet but it is available at the main building. My AT&T worked fine. For families, safe for kids to ride bikes, a nice clean swimming pool in season, a playground, barn with animals, and okay to have campfires, which are often prohibited in the state parks in the summer. Sites did have some leveling issues but again, this is not one of those packed in like sardines on pavement campgrounds and we would rather level the trailer and have a roomy, treed site. We camped at American Heritage Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Olympia is our hometown so a bit biased. Only 15 minutes away and an awesome Farmer's Market, Children's Museum, free Capitol tours, and charming waterfront downtown. This campground is a great base for touring Mt Rainier, Mt St Helens, the Kitsap Peninsula, as well as biking and hiking close by.

The good: The folks running the campground--absolutely wonderful, eager to help and please. Private, trees, can have campfires (and wood available for purchase), pool, inexpensive. Perfect for anyone wanted a real campy, rustic, no frills experience.

The bad (for us): with any rain, muddy, pine needles, messy. Sites so-so on being level, not easily accessed by motor home due to trees and narrow roads (we're 35 feet). No WiFi, no cable, zero dish access due to the trees, very unreliable electric. It's older, and needs improvements. We camped at American Heritage Campground in a Motorhome.
