Overall Rating:

This is a non-hookup, forested campground between US-101 and the Ocean. It is right on US-101. You will get some of the traffic noise. Some sights are on the ocean on a bluff above the beach. The views from some sites are spectacular. Many sites are short. Most sites are incredibly uneven. We made reservations for site #D33. It slanted sharply down from front to back. The view was outstanding. Many sites are well spaced. Others are a little closer to each other. You access the beach from the D loop, from the center parking area, and from the A loop. There's the beach to walk on. There is also a small trail that leads to Kalaloch Lodge where there is a restaurant and convenience store. You will be walking on the side of the road for part of this walk. It's about half a mile. Dogs are fine on the beach and the trail to the lodge. The reservation window is about mid June to late September. Loops E and F remain on a first come availability even during this time. D33 had a perfect view but is too slanted for us to consider again. D31 is a pull through with a fantastic view. You will be right on the loop road and will need to level a bit on the passenger side. D24 is by itself right on the ocean. It slants a bit but is a top contender. Other view sites we liked: A13, A16, A25, A27, D36. A couple non-view sites we liked are B12 and B19. We camped at Kalaloch Campground (NPS Campground) in a Motorhome.

We checked in on a Thursday. Happily, the best site in the CG is on a loop dedicated to drop-in/no reservation campers, F-6, and we snagged it. It is secluded from the neighbors and has a view of the beach below. Other good ocean-view sites are on the beach side of the D loop (not secluded, though). The surf is so loud that beach-side sites can't hear the traffic on Hwy 101. Potable water to fill up your tank is available at the dump site (the dump site itself has a fee/use of $5 with the Senior Pass & $10 for others, payable at the registration board). If you need to add water after setting up, there are spigots outside the bathrooms, (we used a gallon jug & a couple-three trips). Several trails lead down to the beach, which was fabulous, even in the rain. The hosts keep the grounds spotless and were ready to answer all questions. A ranger station is just 1/2 mile south filled with info on what to do and see. AT&T did not work in the CG, but there was a reasonable signal at the ranger station. We camped at Kalaloch Campground (NPS Campground) in a Travel Trailer.

Very small sites, but well spaced. Not designed for Big Rigs. Great 'home base' for beachcombing and visiting the Hoh Rain Forest and other local venues. Close to the Visitor Center. Would stay here again !! We camped at Kalaloch Campground (NPS Campground) in a Travel Trailer.

The location is a 10, on the beach. No Wi-Fi, no cell phone service, no hook ups. Sites very small. we couldn't use our driver side slides. Biggest RV I saw was 32'. NPS campgrounds are out of date. We camped at Kalaloch Campground (NPS Campground) in a Fifth Wheel.

Would have loved to be able to get a waterfront site, but inside sites are still nice. Sites are spaced nicely and can be full shade, or mostly sun depending on beach front or interior. Some reviews had commented on noise from the road, but in our July visit, we noticed the sounds of the ocean much more than the road. The price is a bit high for a site with no hookups, but the location is pretty great on the beach, as well as for access to the park. The campground didn't seem to have many options for bigger rigs, I'd imagine it would be tough finding a spot for 30+ft. We camped at Kalaloch Campground (NPS Campground) in a Travel Trailer.

June 30 - July 5 Kalaloch Campground, Olympic National Park, $11 with Golden Age, Site E09. No hookups, reservations accepted in summer and needed, fire pits with grates, 168 sites, picnic, water at restrooms, dump station and water refill (fee $5 with pass, $10 without), Open All Year We needed a campground for the July 4 weekend that had reservations, so we chose this nice NPS campground. Reserved a site along the ocean in the E loop when the reservations were available - hard to get. Loop D, E, F and A have some ocean sites. The sites in this park are varied with some ocean sites and other sites in the trees, along the road and backed up to route 101 which can be loud with cars and lumber trucks passing. Some of the tent sites were really nice hidden in the trees. Make sure you read the length of your site before you book because many are small, some narrow and some you could not have a tow car. Our site was very narrow and our 25ft Sprinter RV just fit in (we don't tow) but we had to squeeze to walk out of our site. It was very private site with a great view of the beautiful ocean. It was good for us but if we came back we would try to pick one of the sites in the D loop from 24 up to mid 30's. E and F are the quiet loops and D along the ocean not the road sites. A is very busy. Ranger walks, talks and night programs. Whales and Sea Otters can be spotted off the coast. We had Bald Eagles flying over our campsite. A lighthouse can be seen in the distance. Ruby Beach at low tide just a few miles up the coast is great for tidepooling. The campground has a nature trail across the street which is a great hike and the Kalaloch Lodge is in walking distance from loop A. The lodge is cute with a restaurant, bar, cabins, beach and there is a store there for supplies. In the morning, you will see at the beach people fishing, flying kites, surfing and even swimming. Another pet friendly beach. We camped at Kalaloch Campground (NPS Campground) in a Motorhome.

Beautiful park right on the ocean. Our site backed up to the bluff over the beach and we had a wonderful view of the beach, surf, sea otters, and sunset. These sites are very few however; the great majority of the campsites are back in the trees, and in spite of it being a bright, sunny day, these were dark and dreary in comparison. This shouldn't detract from the experience, however, as rain or shine the place to be is on the beach. We camped at Kalaloch Campground (NPS Campground) in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Convenience store at the nearby lodge was nicely stocked with beer, wine, and camp food/necessities. Site roads were easy to navigate for smaller rigs. A larger travel trailer or 5th wheel requires skill in maneuvering to get into some of the spots.

This park is in a spectacularly beautiful location. We did not have to pay any fee (I said $1 cuz it wouldn't accept $0) to stay because we were participating in a beach cleanup (but I think it is usually pretty inexpensive). Our site (D38) was kinda small but we made it work (it was first come first serve, and some of the best spots were taken by tent campers... they do take reservations later in the year). If you are looking for privacy with an amazing view, try to get D24. We camped at Kalaloch Campground (NPS Campground) in a Travel Trailer.

Rate is after 50% discount for Interagency pass. Campground is right on the bluff with beach access. But the sites are mostly hidden under trees. Rather small sites. And unlevel despite being paved. Shrubbery between sites makes for good privacy. Constant background noise from the ocean surf. But that's natural, so it's not noise.

Probably very busy during the summer season but we will come back for an overnighter when travelling in the area. We camped at Kalaloch Campground (NPS Campground) in a Truck Camper.

Loved the beach here. Our site was small, but it was a good one night stay. Highly recommend getting a spot right on the overlook, as the views are great!

The spots were nicely spaced apart. Our spot was a little odd, we were next to the ocean, but there were huge bushes so we couldn't see it. That was fine though as we had a ton of privacy. There was a picnic table, but it was very rainy that day, so everything was very muddy. Nothing wrong with that, though. Still a beautiful spot. I wish we could have stayed longer. Rate reflects Senior discount. Rated a 7 because we were right at the beach (100') otherwise its just a spot to spend the night. Glad we were not on row closest to beach as quite windy with cold wind off ocean. We were few row back in the trees so almost no wind. This is standard Nat park campground w/no hook-up. Restrooms were clean except for trash and shells some kids brought into the woman's restroom. Kids made a mess. There were a few Class-A RVs but most were tents & small pop-ups. We would stay again. What a gorgeous location this is! Miles of beach, nature trail, sunsets....all steps from your campsite. The park is older, heavily treed. Beach-facing sites are more open/sunny and several have direct water views. Sites are well-spaced, but small and uneven. We camped here in a 40-foot MH, which was not easy, but do-able if you are careful and book well ahead to snag one of only 9 sites rated over 40-foot in length. However be prepared to brush trees and do some back/forth to get into your site. In general this campground is much better-suited for smaller rigs. Interestingly enough we got 2 bars of 4G LTE on our Verizon MiFi and also had good reception on our Straight Talk (Verizon-based) phone so look like towers have been upgraded in this area. Loved this area. Would definitely come back! We camped at Kalaloch Campground (NPS Campground) in a Motorhome.

A waterfront site at Kalaloch is just about my favorite thing on earth. This year we had a pull-thru site which meant our camper door faced the water. It also provided significant privacy. Don't expect level-sites or easy access (you should already know about the lack of hookups, lack of good cell coverage and remote location) and you won't be disappointed upon arrival. Rangers were very visible at the park, checking registrations, speaking with disruptive campers and drumming up attendees for the ranger programs. We camped at Kalaloch Campground (NPS Campground) in a Travel Trailer.

Only spent one night and it was enjoyable, although the check-in process was confusing. The sites are mostly quite small and not level but many have a nice ocean view. This is the worse National Park campground I have ever been to. The bathrooms were dirty (perhaps because the park is over crowded). They do not enforce any rules. Way too many people on a site. Parking on the road because of too many cars in a site. The sites are quite small. A pull through means parking on the edge of the road. There are no showers. The beach is nice but the location is not so good. 95 miles to Hurricane ridge. We camped at Kalaloch Campground (NPS Campground) in a Motorhome.
