We stayed here while visiting Olympic NP. Very nice overall. Had a pull-thru which we had to level. Sites are close. Good services. No road noise. We will stay here again. We camped at Elwha Dam RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This is an old park with small sites that recently acquired new owners who are trying to make improvements. The roads are narrow and winding, so backing into the site was a challenge. The short site was slightly unlevel with E/W/S and bushes close by on each side. There is no tv or wifi but reasonable cell service. We would not stay here again. We camped at Elwha Dam RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

This park is near the old Elwha Dam site where an informational kiosk has been located. It was raining so we did not visit the dam removal site. Port Angeles is a short distance away but we did not spend any time there other than to catch the ferry to Victoria, BC.

Elwha Dam RV Park and Campground, owner at Elwha Dam RV Park responded to this review

We are sorry that your site and experience was not the best. We give the best site available at the time of reservation. Site 20 (49x40) is actually a favorite for many of our campers who prefer more private woodsy setting, so it may have not been on our radar at the time of reservation that wouldn't be a match for you. We would be happy to make it right with you if you give us a call. Also, even though you say you won't come back, as far as our park, we actually do have many newer sites, pull throughs up to 70x30, new bathrooms, and a new club house. We also do have WiFi (though because it is accessed by radio tower, it can be very slow on days when the mountains are stormy). Hope you have great adventures ahead. ~owner Chris

This is a terrific, family-run park that we will most definitely return to. I see that a previous reviewer said there's no wifi. We also stayed the same month that person did, and there was, indeed, relatively good wifi available. It worked well during the day but slowed down in the evenings, just like we see at most parks. The family that owns and manages the park is so nice. You'll never find a more receptive host. They have a lot of garden space, which they encourage their guests to enjoy. Depending on the time of year, they have berries and a variety of vegetables for guests to pick. Yes, some of the spaces are tight, but I checked several other RV parks in the area during our stay, and this one is tops in our opinion. We have a 43 ft diesel pusher with an SUV in tow, and we managed just fine in this park. I recommend asking for a space on the back row near where they keep the horses if you have a big rig. The campground is ideally located for exploring the various opportunities in Olympic National Park, as well as along the coastline (which is incredible). We've traveled all over North America, and this spot is our second favorite, right behind one gem of a spot in Alaska. We can't wait to return. We camped at Elwha Dam RV Park in a Motorhome.

Very pretty rustic type of RV park. Sites are ample in size with pull through being long enough for coach and toad. sites are terraced down a slight hill. Site surface is gravel and reasonably level. Utilities are placed in the rear quarter of the site and function as designed. There is no cable and only limited OTA TV. Satellite is possible from the pull through sites and maybe from some others. The wifi is not strong but sufficient for light browsing. Office staff was exceedingly helpful in providing information on the surrounding area. We camped at Elwha Dam RV Park in a Motorhome.

Older park but new owners are working hard to make improvements. Easy check in, we were escorted to our site. Hookups worked well. No cable. The owner was very helpful with suggestions on things to do in the area. There is a trail leading to the former dam site just outside the campground entrance. Wish we could of stayed longer. We camped at Elwha Dam RV Park in a Motorhome.

We stayed here based on previous reviews from others and location. We knew immediately upon check in, we'd made the right choice. The park has mixed sites, some open, some shaded and includes pull throughs. The layout is great with easy access for big rigs. The new owners are fully committed to customer service and it's apparent during check in but doesn't stop there. They went above and beyond with personal daily interaction seeing to our needs and stopping by to chat. They were full so the owner personally escorted us the one of several tent sites where I had no problems parking my 41' Pusher with jeep in tow. Moreover the site was just beautiful. Service, location and site were so good we cancelled our next park to stay on two additional days. This location is the perfect basecamp for all area attractions and I highly recommend it. We camped at Elwha Dam RV Park in a Motorhome.

Four new washers and dryers that work! The restrooms have been renovated and are super clean, meeting room with appliances. We had a pull-thru that was level. New owners have put a lot of effort into this campground and it shows. The entire campground is very clean. We camped at Elwha Dam RV Park in a Motorhome.

Owners were extremely friendly and helpful. Park was our favorite on our 40 day Alaskan trip. All the buildings were spotless. Interior roads were excellent. Park was quiet and we had good night's sleep. We will return when in the area. We camped at Elwha Dam RV Park in a Truck Camper.

Rate above is for a week. As others have noted, the new owners (as of May 2015) are wonderful and excited about their park. The campground has two sections, the old section (close to the office) is wooded with mostly back-in sites, and has a number of full-time residents (relatively tidy/clean) in the spaces around the perimeter. The new section is all pull-throughs for big rigs along a hill with no trees. We were in the last site of the new section. This site's camping-side grass area was much smaller than the other pull-throughs (i.e. fairly close to our neighbor), but being the last site meant our curb-side had a nice unobstructed view of the field where the owners' horses grazed every day. Some of the campground's sites were a little close together, but none were right on top of each other, so we were satisfied with the spacing, even for our smallish site. The pond, field, playground and other features gave the park a nice rustic feel. The loop trail and dam trail were great for walking our active dog. The WiFi was unusably slow most of the time, but our Verizon jetpack had excellent signal. Our AT&T phones worked but had a weak signal and slow data speeds. During the day there was some noise from trucks on the nearby highway but at night it was silent. Fire rings are available from the office. We'd definitely stay here again if in the area. We camped at Elwha Dam RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The campground is just a few miles from the entrance to Olympic National Park's Hurricane Ridge area. If you go, try to wait for a clear day! It was hazy and humid when we went so the views were not as clear.

Really enjoyed our stay here. Planned on one week, turned into two weeks. Long, gravel pull through site with nice large grass patio area. Landscaped natural areas with ponds, walking paths, and owners horses that love apples. Quiet, remote setting, but close to activities. The new owners, a family of 7, are awesome and made our stay outstanding. One of the older children offers dog walking service to pet owners that are out all day exploring. The upper, terraced, pull through sites are ideal for Big Rigs. Would absolutely stay here again. We camped at Elwha Dam RV Park in a Motorhome.

We can't say enough about this wonderful RV park and the new family running it. The parents and older kids were always helpful and full of cheer, the younger kids were charming, and they all bring a really great energy to the place! We were near enough to the office to get their Internet service, so that was a bonus. Our Verizon signal was also strong. The bathrooms have been re-done within the last year so they're fresh and clean. There's a community kitchen/lounge area with TV & DVD and a puzzle table which was really great. The laundry area was nice and clean. In a common meadow area their kids and campers alike played volleyball, played their guitars, etc. - a true, great camping feel. Yes, you pay for showers and that's rare, but $1 gets you 5 minutes which is more than enough time, and paying for water usage helps reinforce conservation which is necessary due to the severe drought occurring in this area. Some spots might be tight for huge rigs, but the terracing and layout ensured enough spacing for us and those around us. Fresh new landscaping, flowers and the family's vegetable garden make this a place you enjoy returning to at the end of every day. We absolutely look forward to staying here again! We camped at Elwha Dam RV Park in a Motorhome.

We were met by the park's owners who were extremely nice and friendly. We loved the park's setting and the trails that surrounded it where our dogs could run off leash. We would definitely stay here again if we ever returned to Port Angeles. We camped at Elwha Dam RV Park in a Motorhome.

New owners are great and very helpful. Rate should include cable TV or be reduced. Restrooms & showers dated but clean. Sites are level and have adequate width and good length. One recommendation: join the 21 century and get rid of the quarter showers. On a 2+ month trip, this park was one of only two with pay showers. The nightly rate at the other was $5 less. We used our Good Sam 10% discount. We liked the layout of the sites, terraced on the pull-throughs with back-ins around the perimeter. Wi-Fi was not as good as hoped from previous reviews. Other utilities were fine. Laundry was expensive at $2.50 for a wash and 2.50 for a dry. Nice common area for BBQ and brand new bathrooms & showers (pay per shower) I don't think there is a better location to visit Port Angeles, WA and the NP at Hurricane Ridge. There are lots of local culture here too besides the NP. It's only 5 quick miles to downtown. This park is clean, safe and scenic. We will return if in the area. The park owners/hosts were on vacation so it was self serve which wasn't a problem but because we are 40' + tow we grabbed the first pull through we saw.. Sadly, our satellite did not get any signal. We were already settled so we didn't want to move. Otherwise, we had a great stay. It was centrally located for us to drive to Neah Bay and into Port Angeles. Nice laundry facilities and the grounds are nicely kept. Would most definitely stay again. Only sorry we never met the owners. We camped at Elwha Dam RV Park in a Motorhome.
