This is a huge campground with hundreds of sites, of which there are probably 50 or more full hook-up, pull-thru sites. The campgrounds were unkempt but the real issue is the number of derelict trailers that are covered with tarps and have full timers living in them. Although we didn't have any issues it made for a very uneasy feeling and not one that we want to have again. We camped at Cascade Peaks Family Campground (formerly Cascade Peaks RV Resort & Ca in a Fifth Wheel.

Sites are first come. Finding 50 amps is a challenge. Sites are dirt. Roads are dirt and gravel. Water pressure is non existent. There are a number of run down permanent campers scattered throughout which doesn't give one warm fuzzy feelings. Would NOT recommend nor go back. Meeting room isn't air conditioned. We camped at Cascade Peaks Family Campground (formerly Cascade Peaks RV Resort & Ca in a Motorhome.

This is a funky, old time place. You drive around and find a place and then return to the office. Sites are laid out haphazardly and share a tower. I could only hook up by heading in in a backin site and needed an extension to connect to water. Sites are in narrow, tree lined winding road with no two sites alike. We camped at Cascade Peaks Family Campground (formerly Cascade Peaks RV Resort & Ca in a Motorhome.

We stayed at this park on our way to another destination. It is a VERY large park. Lots for kids - two pools, play area, hay rides, zip line. It is located right off highway 12 with beautiful mountain views. The campground is a bit rustic and the roads are dusty. Most of the sites are water/electric only unless you use the full site part near the road. We stayed out in the "meadow" section, very quiet and picturesque. We have ATT so there was no cell service but we heard other carriers will work there. They have a store that feels about as rustic as the campground. The people that work there are VERY nice. We chatted with a few of them. Pleasant and helpful. The WiFi was not bad near the store or where you check in. It was a good "passing through" place for us to stop. Two nights was good for us. We camped at Cascade Peaks Family Campground (formerly Cascade Peaks RV Resort & Ca in a Motorhome.

Head up the road to Packwood. Cute little town. If you are heading up to White Pass, make sure you stop at the scenic lookout for Rainier. Totally worth the stop.

Gave of us a place to park, to be close to Rainer and St Helen's parks. Large park that extends back to the Cowlitz River, some lots are owned by individuals. Pools are clean and well kept. Water pressure is less than 20lbs of pressure, which is a concern. Be prepared to use your water pump to supplement water flow. Over all the park is a little run down and some "long term" residents are very junky. Very dark at night, no security lights. We camped at Cascade Peaks Family Campground (formerly Cascade Peaks RV Resort & Ca in a Motorhome.

Very friendly staff. This is a very large campground, with one section for medium to large RV's, one for tents and small RV's and one for groups. We were there with a 36' MH + toad, and the site wasn't quite long enough for both. Some 50A and some 30A connections. Site was dirt with grass, and quite a few large trees. Connections were good, but water pressure was very low. When we arrived we were told to go ahead and pick a site ourselves, and we were given a map that wasn't much more than a photocopy of a hand-drawn diagram in pencil. WiFi was useless at our site, so we went to the office with laptops, and after 30 minutes of trying to get some searching done, we gave up. Just too slow to be useful. The location is great for visiting Mt Rainier and Mt St Helens. We camped at Cascade Peaks Family Campground (formerly Cascade Peaks RV Resort & Ca in a Motorhome.

I would stay here again because I really like the campground. It isn't fancy and yes the water and electricity can be on the low side. But when the hosts say: "Just find a site you like," you can tell you are in East Lewis County. Friendly and Helpful.

But: I wouldn't stay here with out a good surge suppressor. The first time we stayed it kicked out for low voltage twice and I had to plug in to the site next door. The second time I stayed I had no problems. Water pressure was about 18 psi but I did have plenty of flow.

Neither one of these items were much of a problem because we are mostly boondockers and are used to being on our own. All the FHU sites were up in the front; right next to the highway. So during the day there was traffic noise. In fact you could hear it all the way back to the Cowlitz River where we stayed. But still, I like it here. We camped at Cascade Peaks Family Campground (formerly Cascade Peaks RV Resort & Ca in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Go to Packwood and see if the elk are running around the town. Huff & Puff just west of Randle has excellent burgers. Mt Adams Cafe in Randle has good pies; but that is about it. The Coffee Stand in Randle makes a good mocca.

This park is close to Hwy 12 but by 9-10pm the road noise was much quieter. We were in the full hookup area, however the water/electricity hookups looked lush and tree shaded, and many were very close to the river. 2 pools, both almost constantly occupied by kids, many play areas and a zip line that was also almost constantly in use. This is a wonderful RV park for kids. We had absolutely no cell service or WiFi. Lounge, store, furniture around pool need serious upgrading. I know this place has gotten some not-so-nice reviews, but we ended up extending our stay from 4 days to 2 weeks because of the location (ideally situated between Mt. St. Helens and Mt. Ranier, plus lots and lots of other outdoor recreational opportunities) and the fabulous $ value for what it cost us to stay. Yes, the hookups are a bit weird - 4 RV's share one utility location. Yes, it's on a highway so traffic noise can be an issue. But...the trees are large and lovely, there is tons of grassy space between you and your neighbors, interior roads are spacious and easy to navigate, the camp store and pool are nice to have, and you just can't beat the per night cost. The office manager is totally on top of things and honest; we converted from a nightly rate to a weekly rate when we extended our stay and when we went to inquire about a refund of the difference she had already issued the credit to our credit card! Verizon wireless phone service works there but not our 4G data plan. Their wifi only works reliably if you go hang out in the office/clubhouse, because this is such a large park and the RV sites are rather far away. The park covers such a large amount of ground that it is no problem to find a place to walk your dog. The current owners have owned it only 4 years and they are aware that improvements need to be made, and wow, have they ever taken on a huge place. As a side note, the first week we were in site #85 and due to the trees we had great shade but no Dish reception. Week two we moved to site #117 with no trees but great Dish reception. We camped at Cascade Peaks Family Campground (formerly Cascade Peaks RV Resort & Ca in a Motorhome.

If you are looking for the ultimate rundown and neglected campground, Cascades Peak is here for you. It was probably a very nice park in its day, but it is obvious the owners have not put in any upkeep in years. From overgrown, un-level gravel sites, to antiquated power, water and sewer connections. Water pressure was so low. Most picnic tables and lights are in disrepair, the bathrooms and laundry are rundown. WiFi is only available in front of the laundry. There is so much potential here, it is sad. We camped at Cascade Peaks Family Campground (formerly Cascade Peaks RV Resort & Ca in a Fifth Wheel.

I am going to rate this campground based on our stay for 2 nights only. We were visiting Mount Rainier and this was a convenient, in and out for a big rig. It is what we would call a 'campground', not a resort by any means. It was definitely adequate for what we needed/wanted. It is huge, I believe 550 sites total, many of them are on the various loops within the park but we stayed out in the main area. The hookups are indeed 'strange' with them being in the middle of two sites and shared by 4 rigs back to back. The park wasn't busy (although they had several in and out each night we were there) so we had our site to ourselves and could plug into 50 amp (2/50 amp, 2/30 amp per site). Apparently, the owners are in their third season of ownership & yes it will take some work to restore it from a '100 year flood' in 2008 when it was practically destroyed (at least that's what they told us). They still take Coast to Coast and our neighbors paid $10 being Coast to Coast members. We camped at Cascade Peaks Family Campground (formerly Cascade Peaks RV Resort & Ca in a Motorhome.

Former NACO park that has gone into bank receivership and then unloaded for virtually nothing. We have stayed here many times in the past 20 years but enough is enough! This is turning into a slum and the new owners seem to have absolutely no interest in restoring it any minimal levels of quality. Really too bad. Used to be a membership park. It's HUGE! A nice surprise with it's shady W/E sites tucked away in the woods. The hookups are oddly placed in the fronts of the sites. Would return. We camped at Cascade Peaks Family Campground (formerly Cascade Peaks RV Resort & Ca in a Motorhome.

The easiest way to put this, the park was really rundown. With a little effort, elbow grease and money, this could be a nice park again. We were in the full hook-up section - sites were not mowed, almost all the picnic tables were damaged to some extent, bathrooms were dirty with tiles falling off the walls, sites are not well defined, park at your will. Wi-Fi was only available at the office. We had read the past poor reviews, but stayed here due to the close proximity to Mt. Rainier NP.
