Really enjoyed this campground. The manager let us choose our site, so we got one with some sun and some shade, perfect for our Dish Satellite. Sites are large and well-spaced. Washers and dryers were older, but they got the job done and weren't overly expensive. The manager is very helpful and tries to make sure guests are happy. AT&T cell phone and Verizon MiFi worked well in this campground. We would stay here again if in the area. We camped at Shady Firs RV Park & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a small private campground located on US-12, which we used as a base camp for visiting Mt. Ranier. This is the cash price. There are only a few campsites, both pull-through and back-in. All are on grass and under well-trimmed shady fir trees. The grass is kept watered so it is green and not dusty and the shade was welcome during the unusually hot weather. Bathrooms and laundry are dated but functional. We had only W/E but a dump station was available. We camped at Shady Firs RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

Great park under beautiful pine trees. We really enjoyed our 5 day stay here. Owners are friendly and helpful. Park was neat and clean. We didn't use the washrooms or showers but the laundry was great with 2 washers and 2 driers at $1.50 per load. There were only a few other campers here so our stay was super quiet. Easy access from Hwy 12. We asked for only water and electric. $5 Dump fee was reasonable based on the per night charge of $25. We would definitely stay here again if we are in the area. We camped at Shady Firs RV Park & Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Definitely see Rainier and Mount St Helens. Another must do is Dan Kennedy's Iron Scuptures in Elbe. Absolutely amazing . Great ice cream at the General Store in Elbe. Love the old train cars there too.

We stayed at Shady Firs RV Park for five nights in a 40' fifth wheel and really enjoyed our stay there. We got the Passport America rate of $17 per night. We had our choice of many available sites. Normally we would have taken one of the sites in the open field for satellite reception but, since it was over 100 degrees for three straight days, we opted for a large site under a canopy of tall fir trees. We were fortunate to get one of the two sites with a sewer hookup but, if not, there is a dump station on site ($5 charge). The bathrooms and laundry rooms were well maintained. The owners were very friendly. We were able to wash the road dirt off our vehicles on one of the grassy sites. We had no cell service on AT&T but our guests had no problem with Verizon. We would definitely return if back in that area. We camped at Shady Firs RV Park & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

The price wasn't actually Passport America, but it was the 4th of July and the owner gave us a $10 per night discount for each of 2 nights. We did have to pay $5 to dump though, which seemed strange. Some previous reviews said it was included and some said it was extra. The park is very pretty, but we were unable to get any direct tv satellite or channels on the antenna because of the trees. There are a few spots that it may have worked. But we wanted a pullthrough. The water pressure was great and tasted good, 50 amp service, and we were able to get aVerizon signal on our phones and iPads. The laundry was nice and reasonable, $1.50 for washer and same for dryer. The best thing about this park is the owners. They were very nice people. We would stay there again if in the area. Wish they had mowed the grass though...it was pretty long. We camped at Shady Firs RV Park & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Avoid the gas station across from the high school. Pump outside said $10 and inside said $10.85. Owner went out to see but still charged us more. Owner of campground said she also doesn't do business there. Definitely go to Mt. Ranier. We drove past the Packwood entrance and went to the next road, which was definitely better. We returned by way of Packwood and the road was horrible.

The grounds are attractive and the staff was nice but there was no wifi or TV service. We had no cell service. The bathrooms were, to be kind, dated and not clean. We stayed here a few days while exploring Mount St. Helens and Mount Rainier. Our price reflects Passport America rate. They offers open, sunny sites, or shady spots under the pines. We had plenty of wiggle room in our site and didn't feel cramped. Trees have been well trimmed and were not a problem for our motorhome. Fifty amp service and water were at the site. Dump station is free to those staying in the park. Didn't use the laundry or bathrooms so can't comment on those, except to say that each evening several van loads of people pulled in to use the shower. We camped at Shady Firs RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Beautiful campground with mature pine trees providing lots of shade to most sites. Long spacious pull thru and back-in sites with grass ground cover. 50 and/or 30 amp electric. No sewer, but dump was available for an additional $5.00. Laundry facility and firewood available. Conveniently located 1 hr from Mt. St Helens and Mt. Rainier. Located on Highway 12 so there is some noise but trees along road dampen noise somewhat. Was surprised to not see many more campers in such a nice park but found out park only advertises with Passport America. Drove by several other campgrounds that had several campers, but parks did not look nearly as appealing as this one. Park staff was very friendly. Great value. Would definitely stay here again. Stayed for three nights to visit Mt. St. Helens and Mt. Rainer. This is a very convenient location (Randle, WA) for visiting between the two parks. The campground is a little odd. It is a family business with extremely nice people. They had just harvested their garden and shared the bounty with us. The office is extremely messy- looks like a bad junk store but that did not bother me.

The laundry room was large and worked but had not been cleaned for a while. Again, this did not bother me as I made sure the machines were clean and they were. So honestly I was pretty pleased with the park overall. Nice people, spacious sites and convenient with an acceptable price.

The price reflects the Passport America discount. My husband and I would stay again. We camped at Shady Firs RV Park & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Passport America rate for five nights for a spacious site with water and 50 amp electric. The Passport America rate for this park does not include sewer connection. Sites are grass and on level ground. Though the park has many large trees, our site was in an open area that allowed satellite reception. We also had good Verizon cell/MiFi reception. This is very nice park for exploring Mount Rainier and Mount St. Helens. There is road noise during the day, but mostly quiet at night. We would stay here again.
