We have a favorite site that faces the west and the lake...it is gorgeous here and we have been coming up here for several years. Besides the peaceful and restful experience here...you are only about 35 miles from the Mt. St. Helens Observatory...a sight not to be missed. Sites are wide and well tended, as is the entire park. A good place to stay.... We camped at Silver Cove Resort in a Motorhome.

This is an extremely nice RV park. The sites are distributed over a very large area with a network of canals, so there is a lot of green space and water between sections of sites. The sites are quite long and wide, not paved but gravel. As others have said, the lake is nearby but not visible and only accessible by a long paddle around the canals that border the lake. There are kayaks for rent in the park and the paddle out to the lake is quite nice. The wifi is excellent if you are parked near one of the antennas, poor when not near an antenna. We had to move from our assigned site to a new one because the wifi was unusable at our first site. They have a complex system of site classifications, but we found a less-expensive "standard" site that was nicer than the "premium" site we were first given. The park is quiet and beautifully landscaped. The nearest full-service grocery store is in Castle Rock, about 15 minutes away. Mt. St. Helens was about an hour, but so worth the visit. We camped at Silver Cove Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

The restaurant Patty's Place is about a 10-minute drive to the east. They have a decent menu, including elk burgers and homemade cobbler, and good food. The view of the river from the back deck is spectacular, though it can get hot and bright out there just before sunset.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Nice, well kept grounds. An expansive park-like setting with many lakeside sites. Family oriented. Kayaking and fishing seemed popular.

My gravel site was mostly flat but sloped downward in the back.
As a result, I chose to unhook and park the trailer closer to the road to make leveling easier. I still had room to park my truck in front at an angle. The site was quiet.

Wifi was good for email and light web surfing. The Verizon signal was very slow and weak, often dropping calls, and my MiFi could not connect at all.

Asphalt interior roads seem new. Lots of tall trees. Sites are separated by landscaped hummocks, but they provide little privacy.

They have limited supplies and few snacks at the office store. They provided a coupon for one free coffee at their store, but I didnt use it.

I stayed here to visit Mount Saint Helens (MSH). The cg is about 10-15 minutes from I-5 on Hwy 504 towards MSH. The cg is a good destination spot, and quite worthy of consideration if you will be visiting MSH. I would stay here again. We camped at Silver Cove Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

There are several Mount Saint Helens visitor centers along 504, the first of which is several miles west of the campground. The last (and closest to MSH) is Johnston Ridge Observatory, about an hour further east of the cg on 504. The Johnston Ridge Observatory provides elevated walkways for panoramic viewing, informative talks, movies, dioramas, souveniers, photographs and models of MSH.

Excellent park. Very clean and peaceful. Staff at this park is top notch and go out of their way to make your stay pleasant. I have had some very unpleasant stays while traveling. This park has restored my faith in customer service and goodness in people these days. We will definitely stay here again and recommend Silver Lake to all of our children, grandchildren, friends and family. Thank You! We camped at Silver Cove Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Very nice park. Very large, level sites. Gravel sites but surrounded by grassy areas. Large driveways, no problems for the big rigs. Water, power, and sewer easily accessible for our motorhome. Picnic tables and fire rings at the sites. There is a canal throughout the park with access to Silver Lake, lots of wild ducks and wild geese. This park had new owners who are really making it nice. They only have one bath house now, but plans underway to build a big bath area. We are self contained so we didn't need to use the facilities. The staff was very friendly. They were cleaning areas of the park all the time, garbage was never overflowing and easy access everywhere in the park. Just walking around the park is a good walk, lots of areas to explore. Dog friendly with doggie stations throughout. Great location to go see Mount St. Helen. We would definitely spend more time in this park. We camped at Silver Cove Resort in a Motorhome.

Pretty park like setting but our site was just black rock with lots of weeds. From the website I thought this was right on Silver Lake but in fact it is not. There are numerous canals that run around the park where people can fish or boat but the lake is not really visible from the park. Since we were there over Memorial weekend it filled up with families and this is a good park for kids to ride bikes, etc. Saw some heron and lots of other birds. About an hour's drive up to Mt. St. Helens. Nice little grocery store a few minutes away. We camped at Silver Cove Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

If you are looking for a park with lots of extra things going on....this is not for you. While there are many day trips from the park you can take, this is a park with scenic and quiet time. Our favorite site looks west out to the lake (through the island) and the gorgeous nature that is Silver Lake. Mt. St. Helens is just an hour east, and the I-5 freeway is ten miles west. It is quiet here, peaceful, and a favorite spot since we started traveling!! They have cable, and if you watch the trees, you easily can have satellite with your full hook up. We camped at Silver Cove Resort in a Motorhome.

Passport America rate. This campground is basically very nice all around. Friendly service, wide RV spots, nicely kept, super view onto the lake. We only spend a couple of days, but would have spend more if we knew this would be so nice. Best wi-fi we have experienced in a long time. No shops or restaurants "just around the corner" so shop before you get here. We will be back to this place some day. We camped at Silver Cove Resort in a Motorhome.

Very nice campground that appears to have been recently renovated. Wifi was great, though there were few people camping when we were there. No cable due to a problem with Comcast. Sites are large rocks, not paved or gravel. Only one bathroom and shower for entire park. Staff was helpful. We camped at Silver Cove Resort in a Travel Trailer.

In addition to the previous review, this campground was spacious, great views, clean, etc. There is a nice clean canal running through the park with a boat ramp, too. The fishing was outstanding in the canal, just a few yards from our site. WiFi was excellent, laundry was great, and free movie rentals. It's an easy 10 minute drive to restaurants and fuel off of I-5. Bigger city south on I-5 for 20 minutes more. We camped at Silver Cove Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

A large, relatively new or upgraded park, convenient to Mt. St. Helens. There was no cable TV and antenna reception was limited to 2 channels but office had free DVD's to loan. Sites were roomy and WiFi signal was strong. The only reason for not giving it a higher grade is it only has one restroom/shower for 161 sites, and it is at the far end of the park. Park wasn't near full but most were bigger rigs with lots of room for slide outs, and all had sewer connections. We camped at Silver Cove Resort in a Travel Trailer.

This park has large, maneuverable sites. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Excellent WiFi. There is no TV signal or cable, but they have movies you can check out at the office - worked for us. The perfect location to access eastern Mt. St. Helen.
