This is a small Park which as others have mentioned is in the process of being rehabilitated. The sites are exceptionally large and have a separated parking space for your tow vehicle. The water pressure worked well and the 50 amp service was effective. We had minimal Verizon cell service but virtually no internet. We had eight OTA television channels. This park is located on the road into Mount St Helens National Monument and that seems to be the major attraction for the area. There was a nice hiking trail that ran along the river with the trailhead immediately across the street from the park. The river is available with a short walk but there is a large amount of ash and rock which makes it a little difficult of a walk. While we were there the county installed horseshoe pits in the center area. In addition there is a covered Pavilion with picnic tables. Garbage cans are conveniently placed and the dump station is easy to access and use. Our site number 7 had several large pine trees which provided some shade. Many of the other sites had little tree coverage currently but new trees have been planted. we would stay here again. We camped at Harry Gardner Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Harry Gardner Park is a newly minted (last summer) county park, and is a great jumping off point for Mt. St. Helens. The park, and indeed the entire valley, was covered with volcanic mud in 1980, and the park reopened just last summer. The park is pretty much just a wide, grassy spot next to the Toutle River and a highway, with campsites and a picnic shelter. The RV sites have water and 20/30/50A power. There is fantastic water pressure. A dump station is right next to the campsites, and there are pit toilets. No showers. The RV sites are all back in, and most of the RV sites are big enough for big rigs. The tent sites are generally not appropriate for RV's at all. All of the RV sites are in full sun, and are mostly level. The park doesn't take reservations (yet), but there was no need. On a weekend in early May, there was us, the camp host, one other family in a trailer, and a guy with a tent. The two ADA sites are paved. All of the other sites are grass. We took advantage of the empty campground and used one of the ADA sites. It was a relief from all the mud we've been camping in lately. There isn't a lot to do in the area. A playground for the kids. Walking along the river was nice. A group of local kids had hung a rope swing over the river on a bridge girder. And, of course, the location 40 miles from Mt. St. Helens, which is both interesting and beautiful. The campground is a bit close to the highway. Logging trucks come by all day long. At night there's less traffic, and it's nice to hear the tree frogs. The grounds are a bit unkempt. The landscaping is grass and dandelions, and both could use a mow. I didn't look at the pit toilets, but I heard someone from the other group shouting back to one of the kids to bring toilet paper. Satellite TV should work fine. OTA TV, probably not. My AT&T service was good with the WeBoost, passable without. Verizon was bad no matter what. We camped at Harry Gardner Park Campground in a Motorhome.

This is a first come first serve campground with a self pay station at the front gate however they hope to have their website up by May 1st and be able to take reservations. Very clean park, 14 RV sites with 50 amp electric & water and 11 tent sites with no services. There is a dump station available and pit toilets. This is a very quiet location along the Toutle River with several nice walking trails. There was only 2 other campers in the park and the host was not arriving for a few more weeks. We camped at Harry Gardner Park Campground in a Motorhome.

What a find! This county park campground was destroyed during the Mt St Helen eruption in 1980 and was never rebuilt until this year. This little gem of a campground is right on the South Toutle (tootle) River. We were there on a weekend and there were only 3 RVs (including us) and a tent camper. There are 11 RV sites with 30amp electric and water and 11 tent sites with no services. There is a dump station available and pit toilets. No shower facilities. We walked along the river bank and took in the beautiful scenery. The St Helens visitor center was 6 miles west of here and the observation deck was 50 miles east. If you are into cycling this is one mother of a ride to the observation center! Not a single stop light or stop sign on smooth pavement!

Only ding for this CG is that we had zero Verizon wifi, but were able to send texts. We planned on staying a week but left after the weekend due to lack of connectivity (for work).

There is a camphost on site but we never saw them. Place could have used a mowing. Sites are nicely spaced and was super quiet!

Not really much to do here other than sit outside and enjoy nature and take a drive out to St Helens. We camped at Harry Gardner Park Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

All sites are first-come, first-serve. Even on a weekend only 4 campers out of 22 sites were occupied. Site 14 was our favorite site!
