We stayed 2 nights (Aug. 2017). The host was helpful. Washrooms are clean but older. Tent sites (no services) looked nice. The RV sites were gravel but not necessarily level. The ground you step out onto was just uneven dirt and so might be muddy if wet. A quiet, treed location and the closest to Mount St. Helens. No wifi or mobile service except in front of the mart in Toutle. We camped at Kid Valley Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Shell service station across the road is closed. The market in Toutle was pretty good for food and basic supplies. The restaurant around the corner had tasty food and good service.

Overall Rating:

This campground is about 18 miles off I-5 so it's not ideal for a quick overnight. But if you're here for a few days to fish or see Mt. St. Helens, this would make a good base. Camp host is on site and available, very friendly and helpful. The park is almost completely under trees (hard for antennas or satellite to work) so you won't see the sky much. All back-ins, full hookups with 50 amps, which is hard to find in this area. Many surrounding parks just have 30 amps. No Verizon cell service at all - seriously, I had no bars on my phone inside the park - so no Internet or Wi-Fi. Also no cable. Internal roads and sites are gravel or hard packed dirt. Sites were large enough for 40' motorhome but if you're larger, call to check if they have the room. The park is clean, seems organized and other than the camp host seems to have mostly weekend campers. It empties out on Sundays. A good base to explore the area, unwind, relax and disconnect. We camped at Kid Valley Campground in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Really nice wooded setting when so many others nearby are just parking lots. It is very close to many of the Mt St Helens points of interest on the north side of the mountain. Very low key kind of place with friendly caretakers. FYI the Shell station across the street is no longer operating. We camped at Kid Valley Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Big mountain blew its top. Go see. Pray for clear weather. The Visitor Center to the west was also very interesting. Easy, mostly flat hike in the Hummocks to see how nature is reclaiming after the destruction.

Overall Rating:

We had a wonderful experience at this campground. Has the ambiance of being in the woods, but with hookups. The restrooms and showers were clean. The showers cost 25¢ for 2 mins. so a hot shower was about 75¢ and well worth it. The campground itself was very clean and each site had its own garbage can, as well as recycling bins by the restrooms. The campground hosts were wonderful people and very welcoming. They provided us with maps and info of the area. We had a terrific time and made reservations to go back the next week. We have a new favorite campground! We camped at Kid Valley Campground in a Travel Trailer.
