Hard to rate for RVs. Would be a 2 or 3 if you are large (Class A or towing a long trailer)--don't try it unless you are very comfortable driving on small roads. 1.5 mile narrow road to park with no shoulder is a nail biter even in a smaller RV. Sites in Loop E are all angled backwards with no place to turn around to orient your rig correctly to back into your site. Loop D has a few sites that are more big-rig friendly and easier to access. But Loop D has no shower house or flush toilets (there is an outhouse near loop D entrance). From perspective of smaller RVs who are looking for a reasonably priced campground (E/W $24/night if stay more than one night, otherwise $28) in gorgeous wooded setting and convenient to I-68, this is a beautiful park. Was able to get into site in E loop with 25 foot motorhome (which is where the one shower house is located) by using empty site across from me to turn around. It would have been a lot more challenging otherwise. Sites are well shaded. Over-the-air TV antenna picked up plenty of Pittsburg stations. Verizon signal no good, but office has public wifi that is decent. Hopefully they work on their campground roads soon. They were dirt and stone/rock and very bumpy, with deep pits and gullies from heavy rains. Also, be aware that the dump station is down past Camp Loop E - not on the way in or out for either of the RV loops, but closer to E. We camped at Chestnut Ridge Park in a Motorhome.

We were planning to stay here one night on our way east, but our truck broke down, so we were here in our 26' travel trailer, while it was being repaired. Other reviews will give you more details about the campground.

The campground is lovely and the showers are clean and extremely nice, but our primary experience was with the great staff, who did all they could to help us and even stopped by our campsite to check on us. Price is $28 for one night, but $24 if you stay multiple nights, so we paid $48 for two nights. We camped at Chestnut Ridge Park in a Travel Trailer.

A very back in the forest park. Several miles of winding hilly road to get to the park. Too far off the beaten path for just an overnight stop. Roads were paved but narrow. Registration was easy and friendly. Poor parking space for RVs at registration. Roads to the campsites were gravel/dirt/small ruts. Very little privacy between sites. I do not think there is a level campsite in the place. Both front wheels were well off the ground to get the motorhome level. OTA TV spotty. Good cell reception. We camped at Chestnut Ridge Park in a Motorhome.

Well kept and clean park. The sites are a little tight to back in to so those with large rigs may have some issues. It is surrounded by state parks with lots of hiking trails. The parks are all large, hard wood trees and is a joy to walk. I saw biking paths in town as well. There are lots of things to do in the the area and plenty of restaurants for dining if you choose to go out. Roads in the park were a little tight but certainly navigable with my truck and 31 foot trailer. We camped at Chestnut Ridge Park in a Travel Trailer.

The campground is very pretty, with a quiet, immersed-in-nature feel to it. It is only a few miles off Interstate 68, making it a good stopover spot while traveling. The clerk who took our reservation gave us good directions, and the turns are well marked with signs.

There seems to be one section for RVs, and it's a bit of a hike from that loop (Area D) to the office/store, dump station, or the new shower house, which we were told was very nice, but which we did not use, partly due to its distance from our site. Of course our RV has a shower, and the 30-amp hookup and water at the site made a bathhouse unnecessary for us anyway.

The service staff was very friendly and helpful. They did accidentally give our prepaid site and paperwork to someone else with a similar name. That person obviously didn't read his/her paperwork, because it had our name, address, and phone number on it (luckily, not the full credit card number!). The office clerk apologized for the error and immediately sent someone to go retrieve the paperwork and bring it to us, which he did. Mistakes happen, and I think they did what they could to correct it, so no points off for that.

The reason I rated this an 8 out of 10 is because the RV loop is pretty tight, with a narrow road, and the gravel sites are not very level -- they sloped a bit side to side, and we had to use every block we had and max leg extension to get it level. The trees are very nice for shade, but they made backing in to the site a bit challenging. We disconnected our pick-up tow vehicle and parked it beside the RV; it wouldn't have fit in a line. But the site was wide enough for us to park there.

All in all, it was a very nice place. We were in the off season mid-September, so it was quiet and uncrowded. The weather overnight was nice, and we could open the windows and wake up to the sound of singing birds and the breeze rustling the wildflowers blooming around the site. I would definitely camp here again. We camped at Chestnut Ridge Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This campground would probably work well for young families with small RV or trailer. Sites are gravel and not level. No 50 amp electric (we were told our site had 50 amp but that is really a 30 amp & a 20 amp they should provide adapter), cable, wifi or sewer at sites. Dump station is near office which is at the back of the campground. Has a lake for swimming but beach is mud not sand. The road off I-68 is narrow with no shoulder. It was advertised as big rig friendly but that is not true. Entrance hard to see & navigate. All sites are backin which would not be a problem if the roads were wider & trees were further apart. No picnic tables, patios or fire rings. We are here for 1 night and will only return in an emergency. We camped at Chestnut Ridge Park in a Motorhome.

The tent sites have pads that are tiny and odd sized. The roads and sites are rutted and rocky. The sites are hard to pull into. Most of the sites are not very private. The "lake" they show on the website is not the one that they allow swimming in. Feather Lake is filthy, green and scummy and is only deep enough for small children to play in. The restrooms are filthy as are the showers. On the plus side, the sites are nicely wooded which blocks the rain (LOL). The shower stalls are large and the hot water is plentiful. Wildlife is abundant: raccoons, chipmunks and deer. I advise skipping this park. Try Sand Springs (on the same road) or Cooper's Rock (if you don't mind a park curfew). We camped at Chestnut Ridge Park in a Tent.

The guy who checked us in was very friendly and he even drove firewood to our site. We camped off season, very empty, peaceful and enjoyable. There was one or two seasonals but we were far enough away from them that it seemed we were alone. Yes we would come here often, though maybe not in season as it looks like it could be very full. In the snow season they offer sledding. It may be fun to camp here then too. We camped at Chestnut Ridge Park in a Truck Camper.
