This is a nice campground if you love LOTS of screaming kids and LOTS MORE barking dogs. We have a dog, so not a sour grapes person, and we also camped in the pet section. That said, some brought as many as 3-4 dogs, had pens set up, some let the dogs run loose, we even saw a Rottweiler running loose in the campground. Strange, because the sheriff patrols the CG several times a day as does the park ranger, especially on the weekends. We really liked the campground even though the sites in C loop (pet section also) were very close together along the back side away from the lake, which is where we were camping. The water was brown most of the time, we had to run it for a minute or so to clear it up, this we did several times a day. Now, even after all that, we would come back to this CG, probably leave the dog home and camp in the "no pet" section. The view of the lake is very nice from most of the campsites, and if you boat or fish, you will like this campground. We see the signs for the "recovery act" everywhere here. We can see where the money went, not to improve the grave sites, but they put in some of the biggest nicest playground equipment we have ever seen. Granted, the kids need nice play toys, just not sure that our tax dollars should have gone to that extreme, maybe some new campsites on top of the hill overlooking the campground would be lovely, or improving the volunteers campsites, which were rustic at best. I mentioned that, because you can use them if the volunteers are not utilizing them, however, they are not near the lake. If they get a grip on the dog situation and if people get a grip on their kids from screaming from 8am to 9 pm. I literally mean screaming kids, we were at the far end of the playground and we could hear them just fine. This would be a really nice campground for people who love the lake and the beauty of the surroundings. We camped at Bulltown Camp COE in a Fifth Wheel.

Bulltown Campground is located on Burnsville Lake and my family has camped there many times before. In all of our trips, the campground is always clean and the staff are always helpful. There is plenty of playground equipment in all of the loops and adequate shower and restroom facilities. The only complaint that I have is that a great deal of the sites aren't very level, and sometimes it takes a great deal of work to get the unit level. My family and I seem to always end up there at least once a year, and we will likely stay there again in the near future. Overall, this is a good campground with a lot of sites. We recommend it. We camped at Bulltown Camp COE in a Motorhome.

This campground gets our highest rating. It takes some effort to get to, off Route 19 near Napier, WV on the southern end of Burnsville Lake. This campground appears to be largely undiscovered by people outside WV. Most campers are from WV and have travel trailers, and many have boats. Loops A and B (sites 1-31) are woodsy and densely shaded, and not on the lake. Loops E and F (sites 145-196) are on the lake but do not allow pets. We stayed in loop C in a waterfront site for $22, less the 50% Golden Age Passport discount. Sites not directly on the water are $20. Reservations for waterfront sites are essential, well in advance. Most waterfront sites are at least partially shaded. There is a small store at the entrance to the campground where you can buy firewood and some limited supplies -- other than that, be sure to bring it with you. Once you are there, you won't want to go out again as it is at least 10 miles to civilization. Restrooms and showers were very clean. You have to push a button for the shower, and depending on which shower you get, you will have to push it every 8 seconds or 30 seconds. No cell phone service but there are a couple of pay phones. We definitely plan to camp here again. Unsure if this place is realistic for the largest rigs as the roads to it are windy and narrow. Once here, it might be tight parking. We camped at Bulltown Camp COE in a Motorhome.

Bulltown Campground has 204 sites: 196 with electrical hook-ups. Restroom / shower facilities, playgrounds, dump-stations, fresh water fill-up stations, an interpretive shelter that may be reserved by campers for special occasions, and a boat launch ramp are located within the campground. The campsites vary from waterfront to wood lot. A beautiful campground in the hills of West Virginia. Great sites that are roomy and shaded. If you want to get away and relax, this is a place to consider. No cell phone reception so that can be a good thing for some. Interior roads are paved as well as handicap areas. Other sites are gravel with lawn, picnic table, and fire rig. Park Attendants do canvas the area a few times a day and are very helpful and friendly. Dump station at entrance of park that is big and very convenient. Also water fountains with hose bibs are located throughout the campground to use if low on water. One of the nicest parks we have visited in West Virginia. This campground is just about perfect! If it had full hook ups we'd give it a 10. We camped at Bulltown Camp COE in a Motorhome.
