Oct 2016 - $35.00
My review is not with staying here as due to a family emergency I was unable to. This is about the excellent customer support that they provided. We had made the reservation about 5 PM the evening before. At about 10 PM we found about the family emergency that had us change our plans. Even though they have a no cancellation policy that is say more than 24 hours, they fully refunded our complete amount. This is customer service at it's best. I will be back through this area again and will stay with them every chance I get. - Jack&Wanda
Sep 2016 - $35.00
If you want playgrounds and swimming pools, this is not the place. If you are looking for a great spot to call "base" and use your time visiting the many historic places nearby, then this is a fine campground. Great freeway access, close to level spots, plenty of room to move around, not stacked with your neighbors slide-out almost touching your patio awning. Plenty of shopping nearby. restaurants, Harpers Ferry, even a casino. Good water, electric, and sewer. Just no "amusements". - scooterrooter
Jun 2016 - $35.00
This is a no frills campground. The sites are reasonably level and have water, electric, and sewer hook-ups. The water pressure is it great. There is no bathhouse... No toilets or showers. Most sites do not have a picnic table. There are no trees/shade near the sites. The campground is located just off a main highway, so there is some road noise, but it's not too bad. Overall, the campground is reasonably clean and well kept, but there are some junky areas. For the price, this campground isn't bad, but don't expect much more than a place to park & hookup. - wanderfilledlife
Nov 2016 - $18.00
The park is very nice, with nice people and the sites are wide.
I liked the store.
The only reason I don't give it a 10 is the park needs some work The electric boxes need to be painted and also straightened up. The cabins (so I call them) have alaskan roof material which is a tarp. Some of the sites need leveling. For the cable tv they ran wire all over the top of the ground. I would stay there again. - excel14
Sep 2016 - $60.00
An older KOA, it's in need of site improvements. Some are OK, some are terrible. We had a three night stay in a nearly empty park and was assigned a lousy site when there when numerous sites in better condition available. The site was not level from front to rear and side to side. Dirt was the main site surface and gravel had not been added in a very long time. Mature trees also had exposed roots throughout many sites making walking difficult. Ask to see your site BEFORE accepting. - Finder9
Aug 2016 - $68.00
Book 2 nights get 3rd night free deal by calling on phone only. Rate can be tricky because they have so many fees for people and dogs, and rates/deals by phone are different than online, some rates do not allow KOA discount. Every person and every dog wears a paid paper band. Our site was level but most sites are unlevel and almost impossible to get to for big rigs. Do not try to pull through our site, even though pull through site, it is much easier to back in. Do not arrive at night, interior roads super hard and unlevel to navigate. Wifi actually worked most of the time, speed was good, it took awhile for iPad to lock onto signal though. Att wireless signal 1 or 2 bars. Trash in fire pits and on campsites. Pay $20 extra to pick site, bundle of wood, and elastic picnic table cover. Otherwise they pick your site number. - univmd
Oct 2016 - $35.00
Out of the way - 9 miles off I-81. Very quiet at this time of year. Friendly, small town privately owned park. Appear to be developing to family focused group camps. Converted farmland. - pwaygood
Jun 2016 - $35.00
We were the only campers in this gem overnight stay. The campsites are in a huge grassy field with water and electricity hook-ups. Dump and dumpster at the entrance. We spent part of our evening under a covered patio type protection attached to a huge old (1800) barn, because of a tornado alert and then a thunderstorm alert. We were able to pull our Class B RV in under shelter in case of hail (there was none, but a huge rain).
The showers have plush carpets in front of the stalls. Spotless washrooms. And the campground is on a creek. - skidiver
Jun 2015 - $36.00
This is a very hard campground to rate. It is very rustic and beautiful, however the interior roads are minimal and the majority of the sites are grass only, without any stone. We were concerned that we would not be able to get our motor home out without getting stuck if it rained. They have three full hookups sites that are basically in a circle with PVC pipe cobbled together to one sewer hole. On the up side, the water pressure was good and the 50 amp electric reliable. The owners were friendly and helpful. We were visiting friends who live in the area and this was the closest option near their home. Due to the size and weight of our 40 foot motor home, we would probably try another campground further away if visiting the area again. - D&K
Jul 2012 - $45.00
We were the only vehicle being used. There were a number of abandoned trailers. The swimming at the river was closed and is a hike away from the park. The advertised "museum" is run down and with unused equipment around. The caretaker was helpful. Would not recommend. - User2759
Oct 2016 - $35.00
Really nice campground and we liked it that we could bring our doggy. The WiFi was decent and the site was good. Only reason I gave an 8 instead of 10 was there is no place to dump! only 20 sites out of 50 or so have sewage. Ours did not. We stayed two nights. - ClassA_DANandMARIE
Sep 2016 - $34.00
If this park had sewer on more sites or even a dump station, I would give it a better rating. However, we were happy here and the office people were very helpful. We stayed here 3 nights and were very comfortable...just no place to dump. The sites are set up different than any other park, but we were near a small creek and felt lucky to have the site we did. BTW, the restrooms were very clean. And there is a well equipped RV store on the premises.
People advised that you can't turn left to get on I-81 when you leave, but turn right and it's only 2 miles down to I-81 south (or north). - Ginny H
Jul 2016 - $35.00
Gravel roads & sites in a treed gully. Sites are very close together with no privacy and most sites won't allow satellite reception. Had good wifi with full hookups but no cable. Friendly management gave directions to a free boat launch on the Potomac. Close to I-81 good for an overnight stop. - Appleknocker
Aug 2010 - $35.00
The river was beautiful. Mike was great. Staff was friendly. The tubing was AWESOME. The campsites were the biggest I've ever seen. Nice, wide, more than enough room. We arrived on a Thursday and left on Sunday and also had some tent people meeting us there. For us, the stay was nice. For the tent people not so great due to the bath houses being completely disgusting. You also have to bring quarters with you to use the showers which the website doesn't disclose. A certain nationality of people showed up Friday night, by the hundreds. Things went downhill from there. They were loud, dirty and I think the bath house situation was because of them. They played loud music, left their trash everywhere, sped through the campground. Border patrol was all over the place and cops frequented the campsite over the weekend. On Sunday, they all packed up and left. They left garbage EVERYWHERE. I felt so bad for the owners to have to clean up such a mess. This is such a beautiful place to camp. I hope the owners can figure out a way to deter the illegals (I'm assuming illegal with so much border patrol officers around). - Leslie C.
Jun 2010 - $8.00
Don't trust these people, this used to be a great campground that our group stayed at for several years in a row. USED to be friendly and worked well with us. We always came with a group of 20-100 people. Then things started going downhill. A bad element of people started coming in, in spite of complaints by us for a couple of years in a row of campers from other sites/groups coming into our reserved areas disrupting our functions and items coming up missing nothing was done by management to curb it. Although management lives right across the road, once they are gone for the day that's it, you're on your own. The last straw was when we made our usual reservation at our usual group rate, something happened and the lady that used to handle our reservations was no longer there. ONE WEEK prior to our event we were told that neither the space we had reserved nor the rate we were promised would be honored. They doubled the price, we did get our space back, but not without a lot of hassle. This same thing happened to another sister group earlier. We won't be back. - luvmyhp
Oct 2008 - $30.00
I read the reviews here, and decided to take a chance. Here's what we found: This park is relatively far from a main route. Getting there requires navigating a windy, hilly road for a few miles from RT 340. We had no trouble, but this campground is not close enough to I-81 to be useful to folks moving through. We arrived after dark to find the gate manned. We paid and were told to pick a site. Because it was dark, it was very hard to see where the sites were. Even during the day, it is hard to see where the sites are. Some of the marked sites have broken electric. We set up and found it was difficult to level the RV, given the sloping nature of the grass. If you plan on staying here, you should know that the sites along the river are nice, but lack electricity and tend to attract noisy groups. There was no effort to quiet down the loud music on Friday night. Bottom Line: This is a chill-out park that would be great for a few days in an RV. This is not the best park for thru-travelers due to the distance from the main roads. There are no facilities other than a dump station and water/electric. - outsid4evr
Oct 2016 - $40.00
The road to the campground is narrow as everyone has said. The sites are on grass, very little shade. Some are pull through & some are back ins. The utility pole is far but if we pulled up, we'd be too close to the road. The road inside campground is very bumpy. Only one bathhouse, not convenient for everyone. Port a potties around though. The sites are long but neighbors are close by. Fire rings & picnic table. Playground & volleyball net. Hiking, biking trails. OTA TV local channels. Dump site use inconvenient. - jcpjane
May 2016 - $40.00
The 3/4 mile long dirt, pothole, muddy road to the park seemed much longer. The constant fear that an RV might come from the other direction made it worse. We knew there was no sewer but I was very dissatisfied to find the dump station is at the end of a dead-end road with no place to turn around with any decent sized rig. One night and out of here. We do have a 40ft fifth wheel and the "D" section pull-through was plenty long enough and did have 50 amp. With all the rain it was very mushy so I popped the truck in 4WD to make sure I didn't get stuck. Would not stay here again. - cwier
Oct 2015 - $36.00
There are no sewer hookups at this campground. There is a single dump station. The campground's website boasts that it is a "full service" campground, and nowhere does it say that there are no sewer hookups. I found this deceptive.
It's reasonable value based on the area, but sky-high if you're a fulltimer with the ability to pick-and-choose your destinations. We stayed one week just because we wanted to see DC. I can't imagine staying here otherwise.
We had a hard time getting our 35' travel trailer into the most spacious site in the campground. - JPen365
Oct 2016 - $48.00
Well designed park with lots of amenities for RVers. Easily accessible from the highway, easy to negotiate the roads, our site was large and level. The staff were very knowledgeable and accommodating of the needs of RVers. The dog yard was large, fenced and clean. The office/store was well equipped. - tweymouth
Oct 2016 - $50.00
We booked this campground to stay at during our move transition between WA and VA. As such we needed to adjust our amount of nights staying there. The staff did a good job helping us extend our initial reservation. The park was well kept and clean although a little noisy being right beside a major highway. The staff were extremely diligent in only allowing the registered guests into the park which was both comforting and annoying. Our dog enjoyed the spacious off leash dog park. - Mumsy1986
Oct 2016 - $50.00
Stayed here 1 night, Close to highway with lot of noise. Pull thru site was level. Good cable tv and internet. High price even with GS discount. - philandterri35
