Had trouble finding somewhere to stay near Fairmont, finally found this place listed on the Marion County website. A little hard to find - the street address comes up several blocks away so use the GPS coordinates. The RV park is part of an apartment complex, to get to the RV park you drive up a hill to the top of the property. It's setup for longer term stays but they do accept short term visits. There are two places to park, both flat and completely open gravel drives. The upper lot is surrounded by trees on two sides with a nice grassy area on the third side. So no privacy. Water/electric hookup is in between each site so sometimes might be on the other side to your connections. The lots are 30 feet from sewer hook up to sewer hook up. We enjoyed staying here. It's rural so no city noise, yet not so far from downtown Fairmont or I-79 access that it was inconvenient. We drove to Pricketts Fort in 25 minutes & the Whitehall general area is less than 10 minutes. Lots are wonderfully flat, water hook up is underground. There is a basketball court, covered pavilion and playground. No bath house or laundry facilities. Had good interactions with the people here. Everyone seems to clean up after their dogs & they're all leashed. There are a few long term people here and they keep their spaces tidy. We would stay here again. - inetelle

We were driving and started getting tired. We happened to see a camping sign along the interstate and pulled off. I quickly jumped on the internet to see if there were reviews. When we arrived it was small and like the only review I could find. I didn't have to use the facilities because I had my own. The people were friendly and it was great for the night! I would stay there again in passing. - ATerry

This is a very small campground that has been overrun recently by construction workers and their families. That leaves very few spaces for the traveling public. There are 2 "big rig" sites - but beware, the access road is very narrow with a big turn at the bottom. The sites are all very close together. The owners are very nice and try to do what they can to help - but space is very limited. - Cmactraveler

This little campground is West Virginia capitalism at work. Since I am from West Virginia, I am not picking on us "hillbilles." A family has converted some bottom land into a small campground. It has a small rest room and shower facilities. The spaces are all gravel and 30 Amp. Half have sewer connections, but they also have a dump station. This campground is not fancy and getting to it can be a little intimidating to those who do not like "country roads." All that being said, this is an adequate stop off since it is right off I-79. The choices along this stretch of the Interstate are Wal-Mart or here. At least here you have connections. So you have been warned, but this may be the only port in the storm. It is clean and safe. - cheldreth

Very beautiful lake. However, to be a state Park you would think they would spend some money & make it more modern& user friendly - johnjoseph

This is a very pretty place but NOT suited for Rv's over 35 feet. They took my reservation for my 40 foot 3 slide fifth wheel and when I got there I knew right away someone made a mistake. I got it in there but because of trailer size and site layout there was no way to level or be comfortable. These are primitive camping sites with 30 amp electric and water available. Limited cell phone service 1 TV channel and no Internet. If you like primitive camping this is a beautiful place. NOT big rig friendly. I had to move to a different campground and they did refund me for the unused days. I would recommend this for weekend camping trips. - rvman

We reserved in advance and told to call before arrival. Upon calling, we were told to just pick a spot because they weren't actually working today and leave the money in the drop box. Sounded simple enough, accept we reserved a spot with full hook ups and spent over 1/2 hour driving around their parking lot trying to find one...and there were probably only 10 other RVs/campers there. Someone else arrived after us and we offered to add a splitter and share our water hook up because he had trouble finding a spot as well. The next morning there was a knock on our door from the site manager asking if we could shut our water off because he needed to do something to it to share with yet another camper. Not a big deal accept that this is the most we've ever paid for a campsite that obviously needs a ton of work. We went in order to be closer to the WVU Homecoming game so we accomplished what we set out to do, but I don't think we will return. - CampSwiger

This is an event center with a large parking lot. Hookups are around the perimeter of the parking lot. When we arrived there were no events and the lot was empty so we parked parallel and therefore had a pull thru. This worked for us as we have a large MH with a tow. All utilities worked fine. Very quite at night. Route 19/24 Chaplin Park Road is narrow and has NOT had the trees trimmed in a long time. We often drove in the middle road and the trees still rubbed on our coach. I am not talking about a few leaves but branches that can damage your coach. Until this is corrected, the access road is not suitable for tall Motorhomes. - Lama79

Camped in a 35 foot fifth wheel in unnumbered back-in site. "Campground" is a large paved parking lot with an island of a few full utility hook-ups at rear of sites. Sites are level with lots of room for tow vehicle. About 18 good over the air TV stations; no WiFi. Parking lot is lit with high utility pole lights until very early morning. Quiet at night. There is a community center at edge of lot that was open until late evening & which has restrooms.. No laundry. Easy I 79 access. - Scottsdale RVers
