You can make reservations for this park. There is a$5 reservation fee. At first glance this campground was not very impressive, but we ended up enjoying our stay here while we explored the Apostle Islands and the park. We had to do some blocking, but most sites seem somewhat level. The sites vary significantly in size and placement. The restrooms are nearby and are the Park Service restrooms. There are showers for a fee. We did not use either of these as we are self-contained. There are water fills located throughout. There is a dump with rinse water but not fresh water. We had to work hard, but we were able to find a hole in the trees for our portable satellite dish. We were able to get Verizon data and voice, but only when using our Wilson amp and rooftop antenna. Bayfield with shopping, restaurants, and activities is about 20 minutes away. All of the roads to reach the campground are paved, but about 10 miles are quite bumpy. It was very quiet at night and nice and dark. We would stay here again if visiting the area. We camped at Little Sand Bay Recreation Area in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:
There is kayaking from the nearby beach. There is a visitor center for Apostle Island National Lakeshore across the street. Most other activities are in Bayfield, about 20 minutes away.
This a quiet little campground. If you have big rig some spots will not accommodate you. There are no water hookups but they do have potable water at different locations to fill your tank. Campground hosts are very nice people. Out of the way place but full on the week ends. Very nice beach area. Bring enough electric cord as the electric box is shared with two sites. We would stay here again. We camped at Little Sand Bay Recreation Area in a Travel Trailer.
Date of Stay: August, 2009 - $25.00
A bit off the beaten path, secluded and quiet. All sites on grass with gravel roads. Showers available but are pay, restrooms next door at the NP parking for the Apostle Islands. Close to beach (across road), marina/harbor, and historic fishing works. Hosts very friendly. Nice beach to walk along, clean, sheltered. Can see some of the islands from campground. Most sites open and with few large trees for shade. Tent sites off to side more removed from main camp. We camped at Little Sand Bay Recreation Area in a Fifth Wheel.
