7 Parks near Birnamwood, Wisconsin
Jul 2010 - $25.00
A good portion of the water and electric sites are permanent sites. So definitely call ahead and make reservations for water and electric sites. Most of those sites are not level, so bring plenty of leveling boards. There is a LOT of room there for tent camping and primitive RV camping. They do have a dump station. They have two lakes on the property. The owners are very kind and very accommodating. This is my 5th year there for the summer Twister motorcycle event. I will be back again next year! - thetonz
May 2016 - $20.00
Nice little campground. All sites blacktop and level. Several new sites were being constructed. We were only here one night and were the only ones there at the time. Close to walking trails, with a factory across the street but it was quiet at night. Clean restrooms and showers. Free firewood available! We would stay again when passing through. - N8MD
May 2016 - $20.00
This RV park appears to be a smallish, blacktop parking lot with hookups. No privacy, and nothing attractive. A baseball field behind it, and a factory directly across the street. It is convenient to town, and if I had relatives or business to conduct in Antigo, this park would come in handy for an overnight stay. Since we were vacationing and wanted something nicer, we didn't stay. - Organic1
Jul 2015 - $20.00
We stayed here almost 2 weeks while visiting the general area. This is a great little city campground, convenient to walking/biking trails and is clean and well-maintained. The city staff is very accommodating and helpful if you need anything. Reservations can now be made through the city's web site. The free wifi was quite reliable. Restaurants and a grocery store are within walking distance. A Walmart and Menard's are also within a couple miles. Full hookup campgrounds seem to be in short supply in this area of Wisconsin, so we consider it to be a great find if you are in the area. Campground drive and sites are all paved and very level. Electrical hookup is at the middle of the, so be sure to park so that your electric cord will reach. Some sites have fire rings. - Edistobob
Jul 2016 - $25.00
The bad: No pool, no playground, no showers, no dog walk, no wifi, and no additional facilities at all.
The good: A nice clean and well-maintained park with 57 sites half of which are pull through with plenty of space. As the sites are back to back: sharing power poles, water, and sewer hookups, the back yard is adjacent to the RV next door and very small. However, the front yard is spacious with fire pits and tables. Every site is within a short walk of the casino, and the trip back is even easier as you'll be lighter. You will receive a $10 free play card at the casino and an additional $10 if you are a new member in their "club." The cafe and restaurant and cafe are reasonable prices and the food fair. If that will not do for you, bring food as directions to the park are: go to the middle of nowhere, turn left (or right) and continue a goodly distance. There are a convenience store and gas station out front, and the gas pumps have plenty of clearance for a 13 foot high RV. There are porta potties throughout the campground and real bathrooms in the casino if you can make it that far. There is also free wifi in the casino. I also heard rumor of a golf course nearby. I didn't investigate that as I hire kids to put my balls in the hole when I play golf.
I don't think that tent camping is allowed. If desired you should call.
My wife and I think it's a good value as we never use the pool, volleyball nets, horseshoes, etc. The park is quiet, clean, and pretty with woods for the cat to hunt in. That saves money on cat food. We would not hesitate to stay there again.
And, they take reservations though they were not necessary when we were here. - The Penguin
Sep 2013 - $25.00
Stayed here a couple of years ago: no changes or improvements in the RV park. Seems not to be a priority with casino management. Sites are side by side and not level (pull through sites) and are either gravel or gravel. No showers, restrooms or WiFi available in thenRV park. On the plus side, this park is very quiet, however a little out of the way. Will stay only when passing through if in the area. - SWAMP
Aug 2013 - $25.00
Very nice campground on the grounds of a casino in the middle of nowhere . Spaces are narrow, and hookups are side-by-side. You get a card pre-loaded with $10 for slots play just for staying there. If you sign up for their Star Card, you get another $10. Both my husband and I signed up, so altogether we got $30 free play. I won $19 on the slots without putting any of my money in. So we got our campsite almost free. I looked at their menus. Their prices are very reasonable, unlike the casinos in Atlantic City. Don't follow Google directions. Follow the signs for the casino. They'll lead you right in there. - mrpeepers
Jul 2016 - $17.00
I stayed right by the pond and the dam. Might have been the only site where I could get Direct TV with a portable dish. - mrracechaser
Jun 2016 - $21.00
Had a problem with the electric and the owner took care of it and gave us free firewood. Great lakeside site with view of pond and dam. We stayed in a 43-footer. No 50 amp but the 30 amp worked fine. - rdb1
Jul 2016 - $45.00
This park has a lot going for it as it includes an artificial swimming pond that has sand all around it. It is shallow on one side as well as on the edges. We had a pull thru site and for a pull thru it was very spacious. Our site was on the edge of a interior road and we had a lot of golf cart traffic well into the night and again early in the morning. Seems that golf carts are a big part of the experience here though I would rather walk. The site was very level and I didn't need to do any leveling. The campground delivers wood to your site and for $10 we got enough wood for two days so that was a great value. The bathrooms were decent and the showers worked great for us with a young son including have hot water. They also have a bar/pub on site, beach volleyball, and horseshoe pits.
The part that kind of bothered me is the adults in the site get free access to everything in the park. If your children would like access to the extra activities in the park it is an additional cost. They need a special wrist band for $20 to be able to use the bounce pillow, inflatable water park, the fishing pond/paddle boats area. Of course anyone that has kids are going to want this extra access band.
Check in was rather crazy as well as they could not find our reservation but after looking through the list three times they finally found it. In other campgrounds we have been in, they seem way more prepared at check in.
Overall we had a lot of fun, appreciated the spacious site and we would certainly go back. I enjoyed the swimming pond the most and the fact that the site was fairly spacious for a pull thru. - Schultefam
Aug 2016 - $46.00
This camp is seasonal family, with about 90% fulltimers. Great place for family summer! Overnighters, just okay. Our site was elec-water only and mostly sandy dirt with a hard unlevel lean to passenger side. Wifi was $2 a night for one device. Tv was Air with 4 channels. Restrooms new and nice. Showers a quarter, huh? $46 for the night and you still need a quarter? Really. Okay, would stay here again, anyway. - Sir_Charles395
Oct 2015 - $25.00
Stay at this campground at least 3 times per year. Have a lot of full-timers but enough for us occasional campers. Nice little park, clean and always upgrading. Has a trail for dogs to run. Many events throughout the year. We really like staying here and you will too. - gwinn1952
Jul 2014 - $46.00
This is a family friendly park with lots of seasonal guests. The park is pet friendly. There is a nice pool and a beach(which we didn't see). There is a game room, a playground and miniature golf. There is a nice little store in the office but I was surprised to find it closed at 5 pm, especially since check in wasn't until 3 with an additional fee if you checked in early. The laundry was clean and reasonably priced. Wi-Fi is available but only free for 1/2 an hour. After that it is $2 for 24 hours and apparently it doesn't reach all sites. We were given sit L1 which is right outside the office and pool and across from the laundry and game room. It is used for guests just staying over night like we were. It was a nice spot because it was a weekday but I wouldn't touch it on a crowded weekend. There are no discounts to the rate so it is a bit steep for 2 adults just looking for a place to stop for the night but if you were a family who would enjoy all the amenities the park offered it would be reasonable. - Connie's Co-Owner
Sep 2016 - $20.00
Nice County park with campground. Beautiful tall pine trees and back in sites. Some noise from trains and traffic but wasn'the too bad. No fires allowed. We didn'the get the restroom codes when we made our reservations (did not use them). Lots of empty spaces on the Labor Day weekend. Our site (8) had an open ground on the 30 amp circuit but we just ran out cord to the next site that was empty and power was fine there. Park was convenient for us this trip but will probably use one of the other County parks if we go back again. Price was right, and potable water and dump available in the park. - N8MD
Sep 2015 - $20.00
Very nice clean park, was a great place to stay. Only a couple of complaints, we could not find ANY water in the park for drinking water(better fill your tank before arriving). The other complaint was the mens restroom was locked all day on Wed. - bandtgorv
Aug 2015 - $20.00
This is a good place if you need an overnight stay near Wausau. There are not too many campgrounds in the vicinity. Nice back-in spaces in tall trees.
Registration is self-service. We never saw either a park ranger or a camp host. We called ahead to see if space was available. The phone number gets you the county parks department. They said they were sure there were spaces (this was on a weekday) and gave us the restroom combinations.
A great little campground for $20 a night. The only downside is that it is in the middle of a shopping center area so the traffic is challenging, and there is a certain amount of traffic noise all night. - John45
