We stayed one night on our way to Peninsula State Park, Door County, Wisconsin. We arrived on a Sunday evening and most camping spaces were vacant. Lots were very spacious. Only a few small trees in our area. We pulled into our site. No cable, no internet,no sewer. There was a distant view of Lake Winnebago. They have a pool which we did not use. We really liked the extra large dog park. However, if you have an escape artist he could get out in certain sections of the bottom of the fence. There was a large seasonal population in the wooded area. We camped at Lakeview Campground in a Motorhome.

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $37.00
Overall Rating:

This campground was the July monthly choice for our local camp group and the transient area of the park where we camped was wide open, treeless, bordered by a soybean field and with a great view overlooking Lake Winnebago. There are 38 sites available for transients. The rest of the park is primarily seasonal and their sites are located in a heavily wooded area. Given the warmth of the days, some shade would have been nice but there was a steady unobstructed breeze that helped cool us off. The campground's utility layout is puzzling at best. All the sites in our area had a pedestal located near the front corner on the curb side of the rig if you backed in. It's like they were designed for a coach park. The option we chose was to pull forward into the site so the utilities were on the proper side but you had to drive onto the grass to get your rig setup properly on the pad. There was plenty of room for that maneuver at every site. Evidently the owners don't mind so most everyone in the group did likewise. Those who didn't, ran power and water under the rig to the other side. There is no sewer, but they have two dump stations conveniently located side by side as you exit. The pads are gravel and most of the sites will require varying degrees of leveling due to the sloping terrain in this area of the campground. Patios are grass. Site length is very generous and site width is incredible with 60+' between rigs. Water pressure was good at around 45psi. 50a electric was stable and heavily used due to the heat. The park is geared to families with an on-site restaurant, a pool (always full of youngsters when we were there), put-put golf, disc golf, game room and lots of golf carts. The park was full the weekend we stayed and some of our neighbors pushed the limits of the quiet time rule by an hour. Once they left on Sunday everything was peaceful and serene. We would come back to this campground again but during the week. We camped at Lakeview Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

The on-site restaurant has a very good Friday fish fry and they were busy. The ice cream shop, Scoops, in nearby Chilton is well worth the visit too.

Date of Stay: April, 2015 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

The park was very nice. We found out about this campground at the local RV show. We camped there the last week in April so nothing was really open in the campground but we still had fun. We loved the dog park, our dog seemed to love it. There was a lot of room for him to run around off leash. This is a nice change. The view from the campground was wonderful overlooking the lake from the top of the hill. We would stay again. I do wish they had full hook up sites but can't have it all. It does have a bar and restaurant on site and hope to come back while it is open . We camped at Lakeview Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Date of Stay: June, 2012 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

Lake View Campground is a very well manicured campground with a lot of amenities. There appears to be a densely wooded section for seasonal folks and people with tents and smaller units. Were we stayed was a field with no trees, well groomed gravel roads and gravel/grass sites. Water and Electric only (which seems to be typical of Wisconsin) and a good distance from each other. The view of the lake is SPECTACULAR! There is a SUPER nice off leash dog park with agility equipment available for your dog to play on which was REALLY nice. There's a play ground for kids, a pool, and a bar and grill that looked really nice. They have a fish fry on Friday nights which might be fun to try. It's a bit pricy, but it's walking distance from your camper so it's probably worth it. Each site has a wooden picnic table and a fire ring. The staff was SUPER friendly and helpful. They have a bunch of pretty strict rules, which made us a little nervous. However, they seem to have a "common sense" approach to enforcement. Example: They said "no parking on the grass between sites". People did anyway, but kept it to a minimum and were respectful to other campers and it wasn't a problem. So, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't abuse this flexibility if you choose to stay here. I wish they would have talked to our neighbors about the loud music, but it really wasn't a big deal. On to the bad! The sites were less then level. I was able to level without any blocks or anything like that, but my wheels were off the ground on one side and I was STILL leaning a bit. I saw a LOT of people with blocks of wood and "legos" propping up their rigs. Not having sewer is annoying. Bathrooms near the camp sites are porta potty's. The plastic ones. Any they WERE stinky. Whew. So we didn't use them. I'm hoping that is a temporary situation and they will be eventually building "Real" bathrooms, OR putting in the sewer hookups. Sites are a little short. My in-law's 40 foot RV fit, but it left no room to park a car. They have overflow parking near by, but no one likes to do that. Overall, this place is SUPER. It was hard to come up with anything bad to say about it. We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Lakeview Campground in a Motorhome.

Overall, this is a nice park. Easy to get into the sites, and the staff is friendly. The sites are open without any trees, but are large with plenty of room to spread out and enjoy yourself. The site had a great view of Lake Winnebago, and the sunsets were amazing. The negative would be the live band that played Saturday night, as they were very loud. We were several rows over from where they were playing and still had to yell to hear each other. They also went almost 30 minutes longer than they were slated to go (they were supposed to end at 10pm). We would stay here again. We camped at Lakeview Campground in a Motorhome.
