Overall Rating:

We live near Lake Wissota but had never camped there. The sites are large, and ours and our friends' sites were easily accessible with nearly any size rig. Most sites would have room for a screen house in addition to a big RV. Most are also very private with lots of shade. The sites closest to the lake (none right on the lake) are non-electric. There are hiking trails which aren't particularly well-signed, so keep your campground and park map with you. The lake tends to get lots of algae in the summer but was quite clear when we were there. The problem with this park compared to other Wisconsin state parks we've camped in was the bathroom/shower building. It was filthy! I think someone came in daily per the sign on the door, but all that could have been done was to swish the toilets and sinks. The showers were full of mildew - curtains and walls. It is a puzzle why women with long hair can't clean up after themselves - no one wants to pick up their hair! In spite of that, there's no excuse for the hand dryer being covered with dirt or a fan that's kept running being caked with dirt. I would avoid showering here again. The only place to fill your water tank is near the park entrance where the dump station is. There's water throughout the park but no hose attachments. I rated the park a 7 due to the nice sites. I was perhaps being generous. We camped at Lake Wissota State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Saturday morning, disgusting shower, and bathroom, pile of hair in shower, hair all over the walls. Saturday evening, my daughter took a shower, same pile of hair in the corner and hair all over the walls of the shower. Sunday morning shower still full of hair on the walls. New cleaning crew would be my advise. Picnic tables are also gross. Maybe mow the lawn sometime too. People at the entry were also very rude! We camped at Lake Wissota State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

We stayed here for 3 nights over 4th of July weekend, so the park was busy. We took advantage of the Lake Wissota shoreline and did some kayaking. We also did a little hiking and even went into town and did the Leinenkugel brewery tour. There were plenty of mosquitos - especially in the early evening, but we expected that anyway. Our site was wooded and well separated from others. We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Lake Wissota State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Typical WI state park: older, clean, and close sites. Our back in site had electric only. Site had a fire ring with grate and picnic table. No issues with backing in, leveling, driving around the campground, or emptying tanks. Water spigots were available throughout the park - good water. Would stay again. We camped at Lake Wissota State Park in a Travel Trailer.

It's a very large, very beautiful state park with a shore line on the Lake Wissota. It's a beautiful state park with plenty of outdoor activities. As with most state parks, mosquitoes are plentiful, so come prepared. We camped at Lake Wissota State Park in a Motorhome.

I always enjoy a quick stay here. Paved roads are nice. Bathroom and shower facilities are older state park style, but fairly clean. You can hike, boat, fish, and swim. The swimming beach is a bit of a hike so we drive to it. Older loops are more wooded. We camped at Lake Wissota State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Twenty per night was for 50 amp electric only. WI requires non-residents to purchase an annual vehicle admission sticker for $35 (which we will use at other WI state parks) and gives a courtesy pass for towed vehicles. This park is located on the lovely manmade Lake Wissota. The beach was ok. Spacing between sites was roomy and most sites were level. Most sites have ample shade, but some are in full sun. Water is available throughout the park and the dump station is located at the entrance/exit area, which is about 1.5 miles from the campground. Many recreational opportunities are available in the park, as well as in the local area. We received two bars of 4G on our AT&T cell phone, so we successfully used it as a Wi-Fi hotspot for Internet access. We camped at Lake Wissota State Park in a Motorhome.

This was our first visit to Lake Wissota State Park. We've camped in many of Wisconsin's state parks and this one is very similar to the others we've seen. Restrooms and showers were vintage, but the locale was superb. Almost every site is private and surrounded by greenery. There is a walking trail to the beach and a large beach area and beach house. A number of sites have been upgraded to 50A service. Also, the park is close to Chippewa Falls for groceries and dining. We camped at Lake Wissota State Park in a Motorhome.

I don't recall the fee hence the $1. I did have to buy a park pass. Very nice sites in a truly beautiful state park. Would be a ten if only they had full hookups. Beautiful trails through a variety of diverse habitats. We camped at Lake Wissota State Park in a Travel Trailer.

The first issue is the camping rate. An out of state tag cost $10/day + camping fee. ($14, $19 with electric) They have a pass you can buy for $35 to get in to the parks all year long. You can do the math. Resident of Wi. rates are lower. They do not honor Federal cards and senior discounts are only for Wi. residents. The showers we mostly clean but needed a good scrubbing same with bathroom but you don't have to pay extra and they were nice and warm. The roads are tight, we had a 36'MH with toad. Back in sites. They have 50 amp service but there are many sites without electric or just 30 amp. They have a dump station but no water at sites or sewer. Some sites are tight others are roomy. We had one that was a bit tight to get into but had a lot of room when we were in it. It was a large site with lots of vegetation between the other sites. This is a nice park and would get an 8 if the bathrooms were cleaner. Verizon MiFi works well no other service, no cable TV. We camped at Lake Wissota State Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

We arrived here and there were only two other campers in the park. We got site 76 which was a back-in with 50 amp electricity and satellite TV but it was marginal. We had some lake view from here. It was one of the quietest parks we have ever stayed in. Our Verizon Internet worked well. Access to mtn. biking trails and boat launch was very good. The city of Chippewa Falls is only about 15 minutes away. Campsites here have many trees and nice privacy. We camped at Lake Wissota State Park in a Motorhome.

This is a nice, clean state park. Although you are camping close to Lake Wissota, you cannot easily get to it from your campsite. They have most of it blocked off because of erosion. There's a boat launch and dock. There are places to fish in the park, but be prepared to hike or bike to get to them. The lake is beautiful, clean, and caters to great boating and hiking. There is also a small beach for swimming, information and nature centers, and a playground with a large picnic area. We camped at Lake Wissota State Park in a Travel Trailer.
