I reviewed this park 2 years ago, and it's still a great get away. There are now 2 drive through sites, numbers 22 and 23. The shower building was closed for some kind of maintenance one of the 3 days we were there, but the pit toilets are clean and not smelly. The sites could use some additional gravel. Cornell, WI, only a few miles south, has all the services you might need and some good restaurants. We camped at Brunet Island State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

Best campground we have visited so far. Our site (#15) was spacious with a great view of the river. The campground was also very quiet even though there were plenty of children around. Amazingly the beach was not crowded considering it was a gorgeous day in July. Would visit this park again! We camped at Brunet Island State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

We enjoyed the quiet beach but the trails were plagued by deer flies. Bring a hat and bug spray!

This was our first RV trip, which we took as a learning experience with our new RV. The park is located on an island in the Chippewa River in NW Wisconsin. There are 2 campgrounds - one with 24 sites that have electricity and a larger one without electricity. We chose electricity, because it was hot, but the primitive campground (had water) was even more beautiful. All campers can use the showers. There are walking trails, a beach, canoe and kayak rentals. All sites are pretty well shaded. The ones on our side of the campground have views of the river. We camped at Brunet Island State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Cornell is a small town, but there is a nice hardware store. Also, there's a dairy store with lunches and ice cream. We did not see a grocery store, but there may be one off the main street. We were only there 2 days so did not do much exploring of the surrounding area.

This park is a hidden treasure. We boon-docked here for 2 nights. You can literally walk to the back of just about any campsite and go fishing in the river. The park was full, but the sites are quite large, and there are numerous trees in between sites. That being said, the park was very nice and peaceful. Great bike and hiking trails. No firewood sales on site, but there was a truck that came around to sell some. We used wood from fallen trees and had plenty for free. We camped at Brunet Island State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

There are only 24 electrical sites. The sites need some upgrading with additional gravel. The pads are OK, it is along side the RV and the picnic table that need the extra gravel. Trailers and 5vers over 30 feet need to be careful as to what site they get. Trees, signposts and a narrow road make for some difficulty in backing into some sites. If you are in the area more than a day do bike the Old Abe trail and plan on seeing the Chippewa Moraine Ice Age State Recreation Area. We camped at Brunet Island State Park in a Fifth Wheel.
