We stay here every time we are in the Madison area. The rate is based on a weekly stay. Improvements are noticed every year, and this year did not disappoint. The grounds are expanded with new sites and a nice short hiking trail that our dog loves. There is some road noise from the interstate, but it is not at a bothersome level. We camped at Madison KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Don't miss Ehlenbach's near the entrance to KOA for great cheeses and exceptional garlic hard salami. DeForest has a good grocery store, Pick n Save, and the North and South Restaurant serves good food. Also try Norske Nook for delicious pies and pastries (All three are on Main Street). The DeForest trail is a fun, paved hike. Of course, there is a lot to do in Madison. If you are on the UW campus, try ice cream from Babcock Hall Dairy Store. YUM!

I stayed here overnight after picking up a new camper. The campgroudn is close to the freeway so good for an overnight stay. The campground sign is small so when approaching at night you need to watch carefully for it. We checked in late so we had to use the after hours check-in. The campground had identified sites by length and cost which was very helpful. We were able to secure a long pull through so we could camp without unhooking the truck. The campground staff was helpful and friendly. We camped at Madison KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

People were friendly. This was a typical KOA, very nice and well taken care of. For us, not a destination place, however we enjoyed exploring Maddison. Which is about 20 minutes away. We also went into the local small town and had frozen yogurt. Best I've ever had. We would stay here again. We camped at Madison KOA in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Free tour at Univ of Wisconsin. Great student guide who focused mainly on the history and traditions of the university. Tour was about one hour and does involve walking. Our tour was at 3pm. Meets in the Union which is near the lakefront. Lots of food choices there. We had a sunny day and sat outside by the lake with tons of other tourists -students had not returned yet.

Easy access to campground and sites. There are some tress but they are properly cut back in most places. Excellent staff. Campground has few amenities, mostly the standard pool and laundry. We stayed four nights. Sites were fairly close almost all were pull thru. Satellite tv was blocked by trees. Campground is located within driving distance of many attractions. We camped at Madison KOA in a Motorhome.

Stayed 3 nights. Service was excellent and when we needed our gas topped up they were there pronto. The park was clean. The laundry was a fair price at $2 a load. Wifi was sometimes good others slow. The sight was level with a large green lawn patio. We would stay here again. We camped at Madison KOA in a Motorhome.

Went to The House on the Rock which was amazing. A must see as it is like no other collection I have ever seen. We spent over 3 hours admiring all the treasures. The capitol building is worth a walk around.

Overall Rating:

We only stayed here for one night, and needed a spot where we could plug in with our Class B and for a tent. We were given a spot in the grass, somewhat near the laundry. They had wooden fences which separated the sites where we were which were very nice and offered privacy. The laundry was open all night, which was helpful, and they had quarters bagged up in the office if you needed change. People seemed to enjoy the clean pool. The mosquitoes were terrible however and they absolutely need to do something about them. The main reason this place does not get a stellar review is because before we were leaving and before checkout, a man was unbelievably mowing the areas right next to and INCLUDING our campsite while we were there. This stirred up a TON of mosquitoes which I am only now recovering from weeks later. The man didn't seem to care or even listen to our pleas for him to stop. We will not return as a result. Wait until patrons leave their area to perform this task. We camped at Madison KOA in a Motorhome.

This park was clean and run very efficiently. We didn't use the amenities but observed others enjoying what it has to offer. The sites were close and a bit short but all easy entry and exit. Ran 2 air conditioners on a very hot day, and when a big motor home pulled in that caused a whole row an electrical problem they were quick to fix it. They seemed to fill up on a Friday night. This has become a fairly regular first stop on our summer trips. As usual, we had a decent size, level, gravel, pull through, FHU site. This describes most of the sites in the park. There are also a total of about 30 RV back-ins sites, tent sites, cabins, and rental trailers. There is no cable TV but most sites are satellite friendly and there are many OTA channels from Madison. The Wi-Fi was good enough for me to do this review. As with most KOAs, there is a pool (a bit small for a park this size), playground facilities, a laundry, etc. Because of the tent sites, the bathroom facilities are not always adequate. There is now a recycling bin in the entrance parking area in front of the office. We camped at Madison KOA in a Motorhome.

This is one of the nicest KOA's we have stayed in. It has all the usual KOA amenities and is a short drive into Madison. Staff was extremely helpful and made note that when we completed our online reservation that we asked for a space with satellite availability and gave us that. All utilities were good and the space was level. They have a huge entry/exit which is nice when multiple rigs show up at the same time or space is needed to hook up the car. I used the laundry room and it was very clean. The dog park was very clean with water, shade and seating available. Verizon service was very good but I found their wifi weak but of course that depends upon where you are in the park and how many people are using it. We have stayed here before and will return. This is the fifth year we have stayed here and this park just keeps getting better and better. They have upgraded the gravel roads, added in privacy fencing at the tent sites and just keep the campground spotless at all times. The staff is always friendly and so helpful. Tips for other Campers:

Lots of food choices in walking distance, Subway, Culver's, Mcdonalds, A&W to name a few. Ehlenbach's Cheese Chalet is a must for cheese and all sorts of great snacks as well as Norske Nook for family style dinning. They have the best pies! Lots of nice bike trails in nearby Madison and a drive to Devil's Lake taking the ferry as well as The House on the Rock nearby. If you like wineries Wollersheim winery and distillery is a pretty drive with some great wines.

This was another of the KOAs that I'm becoming fond of, more of a campground than a resort, with friendly, helpful staff. The lanes and sites were just big enough, and the park was modestly shaded. This particular KOA is located right in the town of DeForest, with easy access to local services. The sign is tiny, compared to other KOAs, and I managed to miss seeing it the first pass through town. Knowing now where it is, I will come back to it if I return to the area. We camped at Madison KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

I agree with the other recent reviews. Wifi actually worked very well for us and the park was almost full. Typical gravel and grass pull through set-up. Owners very friendly. Fenced dog park plus big mowed fields of grass to play fetch or for the kids to play. Just seemed a little pricey for what it is but doesn't seem to be many options around Madison. Don't miss the Farmer's Market in Madison on Saturdays in season. Producer only allowed and it is the best I've seen anywhere! Consider buying your cheese there instead of the cheese store right by the KOA. Walk through the capitol while you're at the market!
