This park was clean and run very efficiently. We didn't use the amenities but observed others enjoying what it has to offer. The sites were close and a bit short but all easy entry and exit. Ran 2 air conditioners on a very hot day, and when a big motor home pulled in that caused a whole row an electrical problem they were quick to fix it. They seemed to fill up on a Friday night. We camped at Madison KOA in a Travel Trailer.

This has become a fairly regular first stop on our summer trips. As usual, we had a decent size, level, gravel, pull through, FHU site. This describes most of the sites in the park. There are also a total of about 30 RV back-ins sites, tent sites, cabins, and rental trailers. There is no cable TV but most sites are satellite friendly and there are many OTA channels from Madison. The Wi-Fi was good enough for me to do this review. As with most KOAs, there is a pool (a bit small for a park this size), playground facilities, a laundry, etc. Because of the tent sites, the bathroom facilities are not always adequate. There is now a recycling bin in the entrance parking area in front of the office. We camped at Madison KOA in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This is one of the nicest KOA's we have stayed in. It has all the usual KOA amenities and is a short drive into Madison. Staff was extremely helpful and made note that when we completed our online reservation that we asked for a space with satellite availability and gave us that. All utilities were good and the space was level. They have a huge entry/exit which is nice when multiple rigs show up at the same time or space is needed to hook up the car. I used the laundry room and it was very clean. The dog park was very clean with water, shade and seating available. Verizon service was very good but I found their wifi weak but of course that depends upon where you are in the park and how many people are using it. We have stayed here before and will return. We camped at Madison KOA in a Motorhome.

This is the fifth year we have stayed here and this park just keeps getting better and better. They have upgraded the gravel roads, added in privacy fencing at the tent sites and just keep the campground spotless at all times. The staff is always friendly and so helpful. Tips for other Campers:

Lots of food choices in walking distance, Subway, Culver's, Mcdonalds, A&W to name a few. Ehlenbach's Cheese Chalet is a must for cheese and all sorts of great snacks as well as Norske Nook for family style dinning. They have the best pies! Lots of nice bike trails in nearby Madison and a drive to Devil's Lake taking the ferry as well as The House on the Rock nearby. If you like wineries Wollersheim winery and distillery is a pretty drive with some great wines.

This was another of the KOAs that I'm becoming fond of, more of a campground than a resort, with friendly, helpful staff. The lanes and sites were just big enough, and the park was modestly shaded. This particular KOA is located right in the town of DeForest, with easy access to local services. The sign is tiny, compared to other KOAs, and I managed to miss seeing it the first pass through town. Knowing now where it is, I will come back to it if I return to the area. We camped at Madison KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

I agree with the other recent reviews. Wifi actually worked very well for us and the park was almost full. Typical gravel and grass pull through set-up. Owners very friendly. Fenced dog park plus big mowed fields of grass to play fetch or for the kids to play. Just seemed a little pricey for what it is but doesn't seem to be many options around Madison. Tips for other Campers:

Don't miss the Farmer's Market in Madison on Saturdays in season. Producer only allowed and it is the best I've seen anywhere! Consider buying your cheese there instead of the cheese store right by the KOA. Walk through the capitol while you're at the market!

Very nice park with friendly and helpful staff. Sites are level with well groomed gravel and nice grassy areas between. Interior roads are narrow but no problem to navigate with big rig. OTA-TV is so strong antennas don't need to be extended. Wifi is mostly okay depending on how strength of the device's pick-up. Convenient to I-39/90/94 with low to moderate noise. Didn't bother us inside or out. Nice dog runs. Only negative is the price. We camped at Madison KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Fantastic Woodman's Food Market in Sun Prairie, 10.5 miles away, with a huge selection of craft beer including New Glarus which is only available in Wisconsin. Best stocked grocery we've ever seen with excellent prices. Highly recommend doing the free tour of the magnificent Wisconsin State Capitol.

A good location right off about a quarter mile off highway and easy drive to Madison. Typical KOA. Gravel roads and sites, grassy patio area with picnic table. You need to ask for a fire ring and they'll bring one to your site. Sites are close together, long enough for big rig and tow. Sites are level. Utilities worked fine. nice store with a good selection of groceries and RV supplies. Staff was very friendly. They were o.k. with us receiving mail and packages. Within walking distance of a half dozen fast food places and a cheese shop. We camped at Madison KOA in a Motorhome.

My July 2015 and 2016 reviews give a more detailed (and still accurate) review of this park. It still has mostly pull through, FHU sites, but no cable TV. This is a good KOA with the typical KOA facilities and amenities. We camped at Madison KOA in a Motorhome.

Park is run by very nice friendly folks. It is patrolled and kept clean. Roads are gravel and narrow. Also not long enough. The place has a nice dog run and some space/lawn between sites. It is a $40 dollar a night camp. We camped at Madison KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Sites are typical of KOA, pretty close together but enough room to open our slides. Office personnel were friendly and helpful and check in was quick and easy. We booked ahead of time and online. Sites are pull through and long enough for us to unhitch, barely, but it worked. Good location for easy on and off the interstate. Nice size dog park that was clean but water faucets were off. With highs in the 90's they should have been on. We camped at Madison KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed here on our very 1st night camping in an RV.. that we had just purchased hours earlier. This was a calculated move on my part, as I figured a KOA would have the most "old retired guys" floating around, eager to show this youngster how I was doing everything wrong. *grin* We were not disappointed! Despite it being a busy, and totally full holiday weekend, the very helpful staff sent someone out who walked me through all the steps and hookups of our new rig, with lots of experienced advice thrown in. Exactly what I'd hoped for! The KOA itself is of the "rack'em & stack'em" variety, with simple rows of big-rig oriented spots stacked side by side with a strip of grass between them. You won't be enjoying any views or privacy here. It was however very clean and quiet. The row along the side of the grounds for tent camping was right by the 24-hour floodlit public storage facility. I'm sure the tenters were delighted. The grounds also offered a very plain but clean "dog play" area. Not fancy but got the job done. We enjoyed the "Cheese Chalet" right outside the entrance (this is Wisconsin after all) and the wife was happy for the fast food across the street just in case our 1st time cooking in the RV went horribly wrong. (it did not). We only stayed one night and headed out to a state park for the rest of the weekend, which is more our style. Location was very convenient to Madison and the Dells. We camped at Madison KOA in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

First Impression: Nice roadside presentation. Spacious sites. Easy to find. Safety: no concerns - peaceful. Access: Exit 126 off I-39, go east about 4 blocks, turn right. Good signage, access road in good condition. GPS took us right in. Office: Store with some food items, snacks, RV necessities, souvenirs, beer/wine/liquor/soda. Credit cards accepted. Online reservations available. Facilities: Pool, no spa, no fitness room. No rec center. Laundry room not inspected. Restrooms/showers not inspected. Propane sales. Big playground. Fenced dog run. Campground: Not in a flood plain. Roads are gravel in good condition with "be careful" turns and no overhead obstacles. Big rig and coach friendly. Sites are all spacious, pull-through and back-in. Grassy tent area. No yurts. Cabins and camper trailers for rent. Sites are level, spacious with grass and some trees. Utilities at mid-rig, sewer at rear. Electric 20/30/50; no meters. Adequate water pressure and taste. Sewer pipe is 4" unthreaded, about 3" above ground level. No patios. New picnic tables. Office will provide fire rings when requested. Good satellite views. No cable TV. OTA TV found 23 channels. Free Wi-Fi with excellent coverage and bandwidth. Verizon phone at 5-bars. No railroad or aircraft but very noticeable interstate noise. Recycle bins. Bug Report: No insect issues (late May). Runners: CG roads ok for running, no fitness room so no treadmills. Yoga: grass is very thick and would make mats "lumpy". Conclusion: Too far north of Madison and too pricey to make a good destination CG. Convenient for a night-over when heading to or returning from the Wisconsin Dells. We camped at Madison KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Easy off and on to freeway. Clean CG. Not crowded at all. Rain all 7 days we were there but the grounds drained off the water pretty good. Good hosts. Easy process to check in. I think all the sites are pull-thru. Gravel and level. Sites would be somewhat close when CG is full. Easy to navigate around the CG with a big rig. We camped at Madison KOA in a Motorhome.

When in Wisconsin you should buy lots of chesse. In DeForest go to Pick and Save grocery for great cheese selection. Not cheap but cheaper than the cheese store by the CG. Also go to a Friday night fish fry
