The campground itself is nice enough and reasonably maintained. I wanted to give this site a better review, but the bad water you get from this park's service area is absolutely terrible. If you don't want to make your whole RV smell like the dogs have a major gastrointestinal issue, then either get your water elsewhere or make sure you filter it before it goes in your tank. We avoided showers and held our noses every time we turned on the spigots. It rained continuously while we were here, so we didn't get much outdoor time, but looks to be a nice area for hiking. Get your water somewhere else besides in the park. This water has a sulfuric smell and is outright disgusting to use. Smells like the dogs have a gas problem. Going to drain and bleach my tanks when we get home. Yuck. There is a waste dump station with flushing water. We camped at Kettle Moraine State Forest - Southern Unit in a Travel Trailer.

We camp here one week a month all summer long. Private campsites spread out and many are spacious. Some road noise in the early evening. One of our favorite state parks. Swimming beach, canoe on the lake, fishing dock, and best of all, a dog beach. Hiking trails and a large picnic area for day use. This is not an RV park. We camped at Kettle Moraine State Forest - Southern Unit in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

Ottawa Lake - We have camped here several times over the last few years, and with the exception of our first time at this Campground, it has been very pleasant. Staff at the park are attentive, and keep areas clean. Showers/bathrooms are kept clean and well stocked. Laundry facilities are available which is connected to the bathrooms, for a fee. Rangers are strict and make sure you are supposed to be where your supposed to be. Very family friendly, which they have a nice play area for children, and boat launch, and I'm to assume, a fishing dock. Very scenic areas, with some sites right along the cliff edge of the lake. Campsites are very spacious and airy with privacy. They have a newer Handicapped Cabin, so the less fortunate can enjoy the great outdoors. Some walking trails, with markers about nature along the way. Scenic drive through the Kettle Moraine States Forest. There are 3 different campgrounds within the Kettle Moraine Park, (Pinewoods, Ottawa Lake and Hickory Woods) and we always stay at Ottowa, and will continue to stay here in years to come. We camped at Kettle Moraine State Forest - Southern Unit in a Tent.

Beautiful park. Secluded sites. Filthy bathrooms. Mold and dirt in showers and on light fixtures. Dirt on toilet stall walls. Dirt in floor drains. Cobwebs everywhere. Told camp host and a park employee to no avail. We camped at Kettle Moraine State Forest - Southern Unit in a Travel Trailer.

Nice park. Well maintained and very clean. Wisconsin state park sticker is required and must be affixed to left side of windshield. Would advise having a toad as the lake access can be quite a hike from the camp ground. Rangers patrol regularly and are very friendly. Very peaceful especially during the middle of the week. We stayed at one of the Lake Ottawa campsites for 2 weeks. Very good park as they've just upgraded many sites to 50A -- important in the Summer heat. As a previous reviewer said, MANY CHIPMUNKS! Verizon phone and 4G service was good. We camped at Kettle Moraine State Forest - Southern Unit in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

We've been coming to this campground for several years, and it has always been a treat. There are a variety of sites, most very secluded and private. We normally try to stay at one of the sites in the outer loop that is close to Ottawa Lake. Though the lake is small, it has a clean, sandy beach and dogs are allowed to swim at one end of the lake. Several sites are actually on the lake. However, these sites are all on a steep embankment and none of them has electricity. The park's electric sites are currently a mix of 30A and 50A. There are some fine hiking trails nearby, the Scuppernong trail system is the closest. We camped at Kettle Moraine State Forest - Southern Unit in a Motorhome.

We stayed at this State Forest CG while our laptop was being repaired at a nearby Apple Store. We need to stay for a week and because of the timing (summer vacationers) needed to change sites three times during that week. That turned out to be a good thing, as we got to experience different sites, with different bathhouses, grading, and satellite availability. The showers were all clean. The sites varied from completely level, to gently slopped, but serviceable. Satellite reception worked well in all sites. That is a huge deal for the DH! Most of the sites are gravel. All have fire rings, but during our stay there were some bans on fires, due to dry weather conditions. There is a small camp store, with some general camping items, tee shirts, & ice cream, but no actual groceries. We camped at Kettle Moraine State Forest - Southern Unit in a Motorhome.

This is our second visit to this park. We found the park very clean and friendly. The staff at the ranger station were very informative. We swam at the beach which was well kept by the camp hosts. There were free books on loan in the laundry room as well as plenty of toilet paper. Quiet hours seemed to be observed in our area, so no complaints here. I would stay here again! We very much enjoyed our stay here. Kids enjoyed the beach, campsite and all the CHIPMUNKS! The park calls them ground squirrels, sure whatever. They are much more entertaining than seagulls or raccoons (the usual filthy scroungers). My only complaint is the bathrooms. The bathrooms could use a cleaning twice a day, and they smelled very strong of urine by the evening. Apparently the volunteer hosts are not required to clean the restrooms, the park staff do. What the hosts do is a good question. We were here two days and saw them driving around in a cart the morning we left. The park was quiet, and we will return. The lower rating is for the bathrooms. Although the park wasn't manned during the week, prior to the regular season not yet started, the campground was fairly full. Easy self registration and accessibility to open camp sites. Close to a state highway, but not noisy. Sites were fairly level. Campground was clean, considering campers must monitor their own cleanliness. Overall Rating:

This is a nice state park with lake, small kiddie playground, fishing pier, boat launch and hiking/mountain bike trails. Sites are good for big rigs but need some trimming. Road noise from highway along northwest sites could be bothersome but after first night we didn't notice it. Mosquitos were out in full force, but they are everywhere in Wisconsin at this time (July). Bring lots of spray, foggers and coils. Site was level and had picnic table and fire ring. Firewood and mosquito repellent for sale in office and staff was very nice at check-in. Walmart and groceries 10 mi. away. Dump site and water fill is convenient. We will return. We camped at Kettle Moraine State Forest - Southern Unit in a Motorhome.
