Other recent reviews should be considered. We were very happy here. Road noise, and train noise, stopped us from giving it a 10. Wifi was excellent even over the Labor Day holiday! Cable TV was good but since our satellite worked well, we didn't use the cable. Office staff very helpful! Verizon worked fine. No grocery shopping nearby. The site on the upper terraces are terrific. Good spacing between sites, long pull throughs. A nicely landscaped campground. A terrific KOA! We camped at Hixton / Alma Center KOA in a Travel Trailer.

This the prettiest camp ground we have ever stayed at. There were flower gardens everywhere. There is a large dog park. Well maintained hiking trail. Lots of things for families and children. We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Hixton / Alma Center KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Be sure to visit the Higher Ground Memorial in Neillsville. This a must see for any age. Also, Schmitty's on the Main has good comfort food.

Overall Rating:

This is a very attractive, scenic campground. Lots of trees, flowers, and nice landscaping. Almost all the lower level pull-thru sites are alternate entry so you are back to back or patio to patio with your neighbor. This is fine if you are traveling with someone or a group, but as an individual camper it can get crowded. We stayed here on our way to and from an event in So Dakota. The first night there was an RV on the utility side so there was a jumble of cords and hoses. On the return trip, we were taken to the same site. The only other occupied site was next to us. We requested another site and they readily accommodated us. The sites are either 30amp or 50amp, so be sure to specify which one you want. The elec and water hookups are at the rear (or front) of the sites, the sewer is closer to the middle. The campground is 3½ miles from I-94 and the local road noise is minimal. They have cable TV, but only receive 8 channels and the reception is not all that good. On the return trip I tried the antenna and got great reception, just not as many channels. The Wi-Fi was excellent. Very good campground, I will return. We camped at Hixton / Alma Center KOA in a Motorhome.

We stayed one night each way going to and returning from Minnesota. The park served our purpose. Site was fairly level as we didn't unhitch since we were leaving early the next day. The office staff were very friendly. Was able to pick up a few channels on satellite. Would stay here again if in the area. We camped at Hixton / Alma Center KOA in a Travel Trailer.

What others have said about this park is right on, very clean and well kept. My comments regard the pull through sites on the lower level. Most of the sites have you facing each other, awning to awning. Yes, you have to share your tiny patch of green space with another family. Next time I would call and make sure I didn't get this type of site. We camped at Hixton / Alma Center KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Stopped in again on the way home - this time we stayed in one of the huge pull through lots in the lower section - full hookups and the cable worked great - we did not try the WIFI -Price is a great value - quiet off the freeway campground Of note this campground in open until late November. Beautiful park, site 60 was gorgeous: on a hill with a steep approach and descent, but just go slow. Stair step design of sites, means your porch is above neighbors utilities with a bush separating sites. Great!

We were here late season and should have stayed an extra day or two to enjoy. Obligatory KOA railroad track nearby, loud truck traffic passing by on road, both of which you learn to ignore. Dark at night so great star gazing site. Friendly staff, weak wifi. 1 or 2 bars for ATT & Verizon. Would stay here again. We camped at Hixton / Alma Center KOA in a Motorhome.

Love this well groomed park with plenty of flowers, apple trees, sunny spots and shady ones. Clean heated pool, showers and bathrooms. Laundry room is in recreation room and next to pool enabling swimming while clothes in wash. All the staff been super friendly. While we are 1800 miles from home, look forward to coming back. Check-in was easy and we were escorted to our site which was on the top of a hill. This property takes pride in their grounds and native flowers and grasses abound. Our campsite was close to the road so a lot of road noise when it was busy but we didn't hear a thing at night. Beautiful night skies, we watched shooting stars and stared at the milky way for quite some time. Only negative was the wood and the fire pit were horrible. We like our campfires and are expert pyros and it took about an hour of constant work to get the fire going. Convenient when you're on the road. We only stayed 1 night on our way up to Minnesota but would stay here again. We camped at Hixton / Alma Center KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

Attractive, spacious, and quiet campground. Take exit 105 off of I-94 and head east. Country access roads are asphalt, smooth, and well maintained. Staff very friendly and available 24/7. Credit cards accepted. CG roads are gravel, smooth, wide enough with minimal obstacles (bushes near entrance but you can swing wide), gentle turns, no overhead obstacles. FHU-20/30/50. Variety of site lengths, pull-thru and back-in, gravel, level with pedestals in rear and sewer in the middle. Very nice landscaping, no patio, has picnic table, fire rings. Firewood at $5.25/bundle. "East Section" no trees, good for satellite antenna placement. Good water pressure and taste. Office store has souvenirs, snacks, soft drinks, trinkets. Restrooms/showers clean, sufficiently modern (score "A"). Propane sales. Multiple playgrounds. Heated pool. Cable TV. Wi-Fi is free and has excellent reception. Verizon coverage at "3 bars". No noise. Bug Report: Flies and lots of 'em. Recycling aluminum cans only. We camped at Hixton / Alma Center KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed for two nights on the upper tier and loved it. Beautiful view, beautiful flowers and great walking trails right from our site. The pool was very, very warm. They heat it using a wood burning furnace of some type. It was nice and clean, the pool, as well as, the campground. We did not have a tree shaded site. You would get that on the lower tier. We camped at Hixton / Alma Center KOA in a Motorhome.

As other have noted, a very beautiful park. Many trees and flowers. Gravel roads and sites. Good FHU's. Upper level (new section) is satellite friendly. Take a good look at the site, not all are level. We asked to be at a different site in the upper level due to the slope of the site. Check in staff were very nice. Usual escort to site. Good Verizon. Good cable tv about 30 stations. Good water and electric. Nice pool. Bounce pillow. The park was not full while we were here. We did not see any problems with the full timers in the park and the park was quiet at night in the upper level. We were here for two nights and would return.
