For the third or fourth time in the past 15 years, we were able to use this park for a final night of our summer trip because this county fairgrounds facility doesn't usually have anything big going on during the Labor Day Weekend. See my 9/13 review for my best description of the park. We were able to get one of the FHU, pull through sites on the east side of the park. As usual, we were able to use the the Wi-Fi for our minimal (e-mail and web surfing) needs. While there are many antenna channels, most sites are satellite friendly. If the park is full, this is a very tightly spaced park. I have always found the utility placement and, especially, the kind of sewer receptacle the site has to often be problematic. If possible, I would check out the assigned site for acceptability of utility placement. The bath and laundry facilities are in the main building that houses the office. They are modern and clean. The staff I dealt with were friendly and helpful. I do want to repeat for those who don't know: This park IS NOT in Milwaukee, it is in the suburb of West Allis. We camped at Wisconsin State Fair RV Park in a Motorhome.

Spent about 14 hours here (overnight), so just did the back-in, water/electric spot. This area is on the west side of the park in the "RV overflow" section and so that's what I'm describing here. As others have stated, it's just a parking lot. Electric and water hookups ran along the fence behind your RV. Water hookup was on the opposite side; be sure to bring a long or extra hose. Electric may also end up being on the opposite side depending on which site you are placed in. Based on the lines on the asphalt, the sites are very narrow (especially if you have slides on both sides). If the sites had been full, I have no idea where we would have parked our truck, or our extra vehicle/cycle trailer that we have. I think we ended up taking about 2-2.5 spaces. Also, if the sites had been full and people parked their tow/towed vehicle in front of their RVs, we likely would not have had enough space to get in/out successfully. Based on our angle, we did have to ask the popup across the way to move their truck so we could get out without hitting it. A lot of lights around, which was nice for safety, but very bright at night. The lot was a mess; garbage all over the ground. Staff was very pleasant on the phone; he warned about the interstate construction and gave some tips for the best route. Coming from south of the city, we took I-41 N to I-894 and came in from the west. Google Earth view doesn't show W Kearney St (frontage road) off the exit, but it's there. Exterior roads in were fine to navigate with 40' fifth wheel. Had multiple bars AT&T LTE. If they offered Wifi, I didn't bother trying to connect. The office building which also housed bathrooms, etc. looked fairly new and nice. Based on what was provided, I felt the price was a bit high...but it's a bigger city so not unexpected. We camped at Wisconsin State Fair RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

It's all about the location. 10 minutes to downtown and the lakefront, with easy highway access yet no highway noise. It's a large parking lot with a few patches of grass and a few trees. Check-in was smooth and the interior roads are wide enough to navigate without issue. The sites are a little confusing, with painted lines attempting to designate your area. The majority of the sites are side by sides, where you share a utility side and a patio side. The pull-through sites lose some of their attractiveness because they are not long enough to stay attached to your toad. The sites become cramped because the patio area is often used for parking the toad, and if both you and your patio neighbor are doing the same park job, there isn't much room left. Sites are mostly level and drainage was good from lots of rain. The utilities worked fine. WiFi was very good. No cable but over-the-air stations and satellite reception was good. Strong cell signal. Staff were friendly. Bathrooms are dated but fine. The Hank Aaron Trail is just behind the RV park and can take you right downtown to the river walk. We camped at Wisconsin State Fair RV Park in a Motorhome.

It is basically a parking lot. Full hookup except our sewer hose wouldn't reach. Since it was just for two nights we dumped when leaving. Picnic tables, dog walking area but not much grass other than that. Close to Milwaukee which is what we wanted. Office staff were very nice. There were restaurants and shopping in walking distance (less than a mile one way) in both directions on 76th street. We camped at Wisconsin State Fair RV Park in a Motorhome.

I don't mind a parking lot/campground, I've boondocked plenty. I asked for a pull-through, specifying I would just be spending the one night and didn't want to unhook my dolly/toad. Well, the spots aren't long enough to keep hooked up so had to unhook. Their layout on the pull-through area is shared power, water, and sewer stations for a pair of spots on a diagonal. I'd say the sewer connection is closer to my driver's side window, power center and water just behind the power hookup. If I had the other spot it would be more normal (toward left rear). Looking at their map all the spots have this shared system so if you don't get a pull-through, one is backed in the other pulled in forward. The parking lot is slightly unlevel, It isn't the worst I've seen. Plenty of rigs with blocks in the area. My front was up a little higher, my power steps (2) could've used another runner. The park was fairly full, don't know if some event near by. We camped at Wisconsin State Fair RV Park in a Motorhome.

This basically is a large parking lot. We thought that we were to have a pull through, but, that was not the case as we were assigned a spot. We had requested and paid for full hookups, but, the sewer was situated on the wrong side of our rig so we chose not to hook up. A-2We were situated next to a 5th Wheel occupied by a young man who appeared to be running a motorcycle repair shop. He had a truck and motorcycle parked in our parking space when we arrived. He offered to move his truck but we were able to butt our car up alongside our rig. Lots of noise as he tested the engines he was repairing. Additionally, we were up against a carnival for an event at the fairgrounds and the music was blaring into the night. We needed to be near Milwaukee to pick up our son at the airport so we made do. Sometimes, as an RVer, you just have to keep your sense of humor!! We camped at Wisconsin State Fair RV Park in a Motorhome.

If you need to be near Milwaukee, this is one of the few choices of a place to stay. Be aware, if there is an event planned at the fairgrounds, the fee goes from $40 to $60.

This is mostly a blacktop parking lot with a few grass strip areas but not the type of park that I dislike. Utilities worked well but the sewer inlet was a little higher than it should have been. But it did work. Staff was pleasant and helpful. Easy communications. Good location for seeing Milwaukee and the surrounding area. Very easy access to park and easy navigation inside park. There was a picnic table on each site. The laundry area had six washer and six dryers and were reasonably price. The park wifi worked exceptionally well. Sites were fairly level. We camped at Wisconsin State Fair RV Park in a Motorhome.

Beautiful buildings in the downtown Milwaukee area. Pabst mansion worth a visit. Art museum with the opening and closing wings is exceptional to see. This park is a GREAT location to see the sights in Milwaukee. You are about 5 miles to attractions including Miller Park, Harley Davidson Museum, Pabst Mansion, Miller Brewery Tour and Historic Third Ward (to name a few). There's a wonderful walking/biking trail (Hank Aaron Trail) just yards from the RV entrance on 76th Street. The park itself is more of a "parking lot" rather than a "campground" so it's a trade off - location vs amenities. The pro's: Easy reservation process, efficient check-in, friendly staff (manager gave us his cell phone # in case we needed to call after hours), regular police patrols (we felt very safe), hook-ups worked perfectly, level site, no puddles following rain storms, large sites with plenty of length and width for your big rig (45' rig is no problem), toad, picnic table and misc chairs you might set up. Verizon cell and Spring Myfi worked very well. The park wifi worked well most of the time but did have slow periods. Most sites offer a clear sky for sat signal. We really enjoyed our stay here. The con's: There's not a lot of grass or trees and it's not set up for kids. The sites are back-to-front alternating with front-to-back so your front door faces your neighbor's front door. You're not so close that's it's weird and our neighbor was very nice. We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Wisconsin State Fair RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The A row is nice because there's a small strip of grass and a few trees. It's not "park like" but it's a bit of green in the midst of asphalt. Check out Miller Park, Harley Davidson Museum, Miller Brewery Tour (free beer!) and Historic Third Ward. If you like Frank Lloyd Wright, you can drive approx 35 miles to Racine to tour SC Johnson and Wingspread (both tours are free but you must make reservations). You can access the walking/biking Hank Aaron Trail just outside the RV park.

Overpriced no frills parking lot in a busy section of town. Lots of traffic noise, lots of sirens (may be near fire house?) and very brightly lit at night. I had to put up blackout shades to sleep. The location and setting were horrible, but on the flip side of that, its very convenient to visit the local area. However, as of summer 2016, when I visited, driving anywhere in the Milwaukee area is a nightmare, due to numerous construction detours. It was tricky to get to the park because of this, and GPS is useless for the same reason. On a more positive note, interactions with multiple employees were all very positive. Fairly easy to navigate through the park itself, and utilities all worked well, though as noted by others, some are not so conveniently placed, as pedestals are shared. Walmart grocery store about five minutes walk through a quiet residential neighborhood. We camped at Wisconsin State Fair RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

If nothing else, I want to clarify/correct something written in a review last fall (October 2015, I believe). The review says this park is in the middle of the city. Most folks will take that to mean that the park is in the middle of Milwaukee. In fact, IT IS NOT EVEN in Milwaukee. The park is in West Allis, (a suburb just to the west of Milwaukee). The park is 4 blocks north of "downtown" West Allis. As others have said, the park is mostly on asphalt, with mostly FHU sites that have problematic sewers. There is no cable but most sites appear to be satellite friendly and there a lots of antenna stations. Like most WIFI systems in parks today, the performance depends on how many people are in the the park and/or how many customers are "bandwith hogs". The bathrooms and laundry are modern and clean. We DID NOT CAMP here - we parked here in a RV site. The only things I need to add for this stay are: the park was almost full and the WIFI was absolutely useless and there were dozens of Harley bikers - most of whom were loud, obnoxious, and threatening if asked to quiet down. We camped at Wisconsin State Fair RV Park in a Motorhome.

This is basically a parking lot. You are next to the fair. At the time we were there, a carnival was going on. It was loud at night. Very little shade. You do share a hook up, ours was on the wrong side for our rig. We had to get another sewer hose to reach. We couldn't move to a site that would be good because there was a motorcycle rally there.

This is an urban park. If you choose the "A" row you will have grass at the rear of your site and be the farthest from the street. The hookups are double therefore it will be one pull-in site next to one back-in site in row A. Be sure that you get the type you require. We chose A-10 which is a pull-in and it made it very nice & private as we were facing away from the park toward our grass. The other sites are pull-through on concrete and they too go in opposite directions. The sites are large, have good 50 amps and the park is very clean. I do not think this park is busy except during an event. This location is excellent for visiting Milwaukee and the surrounding area. We camped at Wisconsin State Fair RV Park in a Motorhome.

A basic park within the State Fair grounds.

Paved, level sites, well lit and good space between sites.

The set up for sewage drains seemed a bit strange in that one site drained on the drivers side and the adjacent site drained on the passengers side.

We had to move in order to get a site that our hose would reach.

The park was clean and quiet and we would definitely stay there again. We camped at Wisconsin State Fair RV Park in a Motorhome.
