18 Parks near Montello, Wisconsin
Aug 2016 - $24.00
Nice place in the pines. Very helpful owner. No idea the site number. This place would be a great visit for a number of days/weeks. Just remember to bring your boat!!! - Homawy
Aug 2016 - $24.00
It's a perfectly charming campground nestled in the woods across the road from Buffalo Lake - a great fishing lake. The park is clean and well maintained with excellent free Wifi (streaming is actively discouraged). There are playgrounds for kids, clean heated pool with deck chairs, volleyball, a screened fish cleaning station, a camp store and takeout grill serving good food, a lending library, laundry, propane, rental bikes, canoes, kayaks, and cable TV. We did not have any difficulty receiving satellite. What more could you ask for at an RV park? There is a high percentage of permanent sites used primarily for weekend getaways. All are well maintained and neat. There are 110 sites with 45 used for transients and one cabin. The interior roads are limestone and gravel and can be dusty though the dust was not bothersome while we were there. The owner and his wife are very friendly, here every day, and dedicated to you having a good experience. My wife and I will not hesitate to stay longer and to return to this jewel of a campground. - The Penguin
Aug 2015 - $22.00
Very clean and quiet with long, pull through sites. We had full hook up and 50 amp service. Lady in the office was very helpful and pleasant. There are a number of seasonal people and their sites were clean and orderly. Verizon phone and wifi worked well. - rolling homeless
Jul 2010 - $39.00
We stayed at the campground over 4th of July weekend for the first time. Although the campground was nearly filled to capacity, we were amazed at how quiet it was. The campground is a little older than some in the area, but it is very well maintained. Our kids loved the pool and playground. The owners really do enforce quiet time and do their best to make sure that Kilby Lake remains family friendly. We had a disturbing neighbor that moved in over the weekend that was drunk and throwing around foul language (loud enough surrounding sides could hear). The neighbor received one warning and then was evicted from the campground; we were very appreciative. We will definitely be back again. - 2kids4me
Jul 2009 - $35.00
It is picturesque with greenery and wild berries but not big rig friendly. There are narrow sites and lots of mature trees that inhibit satellite reception. The owners were friendly and strictly enforced quiet time. No sewer hookups were available when we were there (full hookups limited to permanent units), just a small 250 gallon drop tank that had to be pumped three times. Our friends who stayed there in a pop-up at the same time reported clean showers and restrooms but we did not use them. The sandy terrain and very high iron water that left rust everywhere. We had AT&T phone which had no reception. - DeRenzy
Sep 2007 - $35.00
Overall a very nice campground. The sites are big and most provide lots of privacy. The majority of the campground is very wooded except for a large center play area with playground equipment, a shelter and game room. We played a quick game of football within this area. There are quite a few seasonal sites, but they are well kept and everyone is friendly. The full hookup sites have a holding tank for sewer. Mine overflowed a little when I dumped before leaving. So, I had to use the dump station to finish. I'm not sure the sewer hookup is worth the extra $3 per night. Also, the interior roads are mostly sand, so don't plan on doing any biking. - pmiesbauer
Aug 2016 - $60.00
Too muddy, too much tree overhang and other debri for big rigs. The mud puddles are mosquito filled. Nasty. They were not happy we decided to stay only one night due to poor conditions. Our tires sank in our supposedly gravel site at least 4 inches! Roads were a tiny bit better, but they desperately need new gravel all over and some tree trimming or clearing out. Lots of junky permanents. Never going back. - amejame
May 2016 - $39.00
The campground staff is amazing! They are extremely friendly, very helpful and so very kind! The campground is always busy with activities for kids and even some for the adults.
The sites are good in size and most have plenty of shade. - Tina_Menasha
May 2016 - $45.00
Everything except equipment rental is included in the overnight rate. You're not bilked to have a good time. It's family owned. There are free crafts and movies. This will be our family favorite from now on. The sites are huge, mostly shady, and dirt. - Tetz
Sep 2016 - $27.00
This is a beautiful RV park on Buffalo Lake. It is breathtakingly scenic and serene and wonderfully quiet. We were here for Sunday night over Labor Day weekend and though popular, it was still quiet! The park is beautifully landscaped with lawns everywhere and is right next to the lake. We loved being here with our large dogs. This is the best park we've visited all the way from California to Wisconsin. - beckydmc
Jul 2010 - $37.00
We've come here 1 or 2 times a year for the last 5 or so years. We really enjoy this campground. The owners and their staff are always very nice, and they are always helpful. The whole resort is always kept clean and neat. They are pet friendly as long as the rules are followed. Pets are to be leashed and you must clean up after your pet immediately. I appreciate this so much as I don't bring a pet, though several in our group do. The pool is well maintained and a pleasure to use on those hot July days. The mini golf is our favorite challenge. The owners have been very busy adding some GREAT playground equipment, as well as new rafts to play on in the pond and adding a GREAT new snack area. You will love this campground. Give them a try. - Delores M.
Jul 2010 - $37.00
This campground is for seasonals and just tolerates overnights. There is no internet or cell (Verizon) reception and the bugs are bad. - jfred
May 2009 - $36.00
I went camping with some friends to Wilderness Campground because one weekend a year they give away sites for those who serve, or have served, in the military. I couldn't put a 0 for the nightly rate, but the whole weekend was free. It's an excellent campground, with plenty of sunny and shaded sites. A lot of the sites are permanent, but very well maintained. Bathrooms and showers are very clean. They completely redesigned the main office/grocery area, and even have a Friday Night Fish Fry. We will definitely be back. - Dean Hoover
Jul 2015 - $52.00
I am not one to leave poor reviews, but this place was not good. We stayed here while visiting relatives in the area. We had reservations for 2 days and we stayed one day and left. We had a full hook-up site reserved and paid for in advance. We arrived and checked in and went back to our site and the was only about 35' long and that was being generous. They knew when I made the reservation that I had a 38' 5th wheel, it was also on the paperwork at check in and they still assigned me the site. After sitting at the site and trying to figure out how a trailer was to even park in here, one of the office staff drove out and pointed out to me how they generally park in here. He comment "you have a big unit for this site." I went back to the office and picked a different site, got a water and electric from a full hook up we were originally to have that was paid for. I ask them if there was any difference in price and they said it was about $20 difference , but there would be a $10 site transfer charge and it would all have to be approved through the manager who would come and talk to me the next day. He never hunted me down to talk to me and never called me on my cell phone the number in which they had from my original reservation. I was very disappointed in there service and all the amenities that they were supposedly to have that we did not see. It appeared that the park was not very well maintained. The pool was nice, but had an awful lot of chlorine in it. I will not be returning and am still waiting on that phone call for my refunded difference from the manager. - PackerFanRick
Sep 2010 - $33.00
We enjoyed our stay here. Lots of things to do here (see their web site). We will definitely visit this campground again soon. - thetonz
May 2016 - $42.00
This is a nice clean park. Spaces are a little close and fairly level. Internet is non-existent and phone service is at best spotty in the campground with ATT. I'm still surprised that CG don't have internet around the area for their customers. My rate is for 3 nights with one free---so approx. $56.oo per day. - illini777
Oct 2015 - $45.00
We have stayed at this park at various times of the year. At all times we have found the staff friendly, courteous, and respectful. That being said, this is a well patrolled park. If you are looking to get drunk, loud and obnoxious this is not your park. If you are looking for a park that is family friendly, respectful - quiet hours are quiet hours, clean, well laid out with plenty of activities. All are welcome from tents to Class A's. Most waterfront sites are easily accessible to all except for some large 5th wheels or Class A's. We will camp here again. - Camping Wisconsin
Jun 2015 - $30.00
Another wonderful stay at this campground....very fine people, and very well run..
We will return again..
Great indoor and outdoor pool
Loads of things to do for kids - hdonlybob
May 2015 - $42.00
The campground is going through what looks like a fairly major overhaul. The pond (Whitetail Springs) is much cleaner and nicer than it was two years ago and a lot of the sites had been re built and there was quite a bit of construction going on. It was never loud or obtrusive, but there was definitely activity about as they are trying to improve the facilities. I would definitely ask if the site you're looking at is near construction or is being redone.
We were there before the pools were open but they do have 3 pools with one being adults only. The other major amenity is the 9 hole golf course. A lot of people were playing it and it looked like a lot of fun. If you're looking for more of a challenge, Lawsonia is right across the street and that is one (actually two) of the most beautiful and challenging golf courses you're going to ever play.
Our site did not have a sewer hookup (only two nightly sections do) but their dump station area was clean and odor free. Easy to get in and out of without being right at the main gate.
The camp store and the people running it were great. Coffee, great looking snacks and a cheerful group of people providing great service.
We had no problem getting to our site with our 5th wheel, but I can see there might be some sites we would have struggled with so look at the map and know your unit.
The water was clean, pressure was good, Verizon wireless was adequate, their wi-fi was strong, but slow.
We'll definitely go back. - Samron68
May 2011 - $45.00
This campground is very family friendly. All activities included in the main price. There are no extra fees required. Bath houses are very clean and well kept. Swimming pools are very spacious with plenty of room for everyone. Office staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Great golf course located on site free to campers. Mini golf was also free. Kids had a great time here. - werazoo
Jul 2010 - $52.00
Proof that more $$$ does not automatically mean a better camping experience. We had booked this site based on their website and one on-line review (not found here). So here we go: Small/narrow dirt/gravel roads throughout the campground, except for the entry lane alongside the office. If you're towing a toad, expect to have to enter the campground to find a level spot to unhook it. Pull through sites are 35 feet wide by about 55' long, just long enough to park the coach and toad nose to nose. A fire ring and picnic table was seen at each site. Getting into the site (#7) was difficult as the entry roadway between the sites was narrow. Although the campgrounds map shows the sites are placed at an angle to make entry easy, they aren't. There is no shade in the area that contains the pull through sites. The pool/playground area is a pretty good hike from the rear of the campground where most of the big rig sites are located. This campground apparently gets a lot of business from the par 3 golf course directly alongside, which is "free" to campers. The golf course looked well maintained, somewhat better than the campground itself. The Wi-Fi signal is quite good, however it works slowly very slowly. The management did reset the modem for us upon request, but that didn't help for long. Bottom line, not worth the money they charge - unless you're really big into golf. - mackerman
Jul 2016 - $16.00
Place was not kept up. Lots of abandoned trailers, run down, many junk cars. Beach was a mess. Lake had a few spots where you could see the water due to Lilly pads. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere as there are plenty of nice campgrounds in the area. - Hondawing1988
Oct 2015 - $16.00
Nice, older campground some distance from Wisconsin Dells. Our site was grassy a little ways from the restrooms and showers. The owners were very helpful and friendly. There were a few RVs there, but we were the only ones there staying. - 1dinky
Jul 2009 - $40.00
This is an older property about 20 minutes from the Dells area. Restrooms & showers were fairly clean. The playground was very nice & new stuff recently added. This campground has a beer only bar. The wagon ride was awesome & the owners were very nice. Our sites were fairly unlevel but we managed. The kids didn't get much water play as the pool was too cold for the kids and so was the tiny lake due to weather. We didn't see any fish in the lake but there is a huge lake across the road. Paddler rentals were broken. Overall it was a good stay but please make the pool warmer. - travlin-with-tots
Jul 2016 - $40.00
They charge an extra $5 a day for electricity when it's hot. They only accept cash or checks.
Many of the sites are seasonal or for full time residents. There were only 3 pull-through sites with full hookups and these were more than adequate.
They have a bar/lounge on the grounds that draws local residents as well as guests.
You have to have a reason for coming to Coloma, or just passing through. The business sector is slowly disappearing. There are small nearby lakes for recreation.
The new owners have been there for a couple of years now and are slowly making improvements. - DJanis
Jun 2016 - $40.00
I stayed here 3 1/2 weeks. Campground is very clean, grass was kept cut and weed walked. The owners are friendly and helpful. I used the laundry room: it was clean and inexpensive. The pool was clean but no shade. - kampincrazy
Jul 2015 - $31.00
The folks who run this park are apparently former RVers who know what is important from the customers point of view. They manage a park that is partly full time residents and a few transient sites. Overall this park is beautifully kept up and our overnight site was first class. The Utilities, EWS, were all new and were easily accessible. - Peter in Arizona
