The pluses are that it's close to the freeway, shops, outlets strip and restaurants. It's also quiet at night. Other than that we were disappointed. We originally reserved a pull thru but the owner changed it before our arrival to a back in. We had to unhook the dolly and car from our 35'. The site was all gravel and looked like a parking spot with water and electric hookup. The sites are haphazardly scattered on the grounds. Our neighbor was so close that his awning was a couple feet from our RV. The sun beat down on us during the day. The electric post was behind the RV. Lots of TV channels and Verizon and ATT cell work well. It was quite dusty, which I imagine would become muddy with rain. There is a small lake but the grounds around it are not well maintained. The owner was nice but we have definitely stayed in much nicer campgrounds for less money. We would look elsewhere if we came back. We camped at Hickory Oaks Campground in a Motorhome.

Outlet malls and shopping at exits 116-119 on 41. Urgent care and hospital within a couple miles of the park. Eat a great meal at Roxy's Supper Club in Downton Oshkosh. Great prices and awesome food!

Stayed here during the EAA Airshow. You have to book far in advance for the show. Campground is small, has electric and water sites or dry camping. There is a dump station or owner will pump out your tanks for a fee. Our site was back-in, fairly level gravel and dirt. If it rains, puddles will form and areas get muddy but we had no trouble. There is a small lake to swim or fish in. An added bonus is the small airstrip on the property where we saw planes come and go. The campground is quiet. We would stay here again. We camped at Hickory Oaks Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

We were just there one night, but the park is beautiful and beautifully maintained. There is very good, open WiFi available. The sites don't have sewer hookup, but there is a dump station. I would definitely recommend them and go there again. We camped at Hickory Oaks Campground in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Campground is unusual, pretty much in the city of Oshkosh so close to restaurants and shopping. It is fairly quiet given the location. A lot of tent sites and 20 or so RV sites. The pond is OK for a walk around but the fish I found were very small.

We were in a site (W4) on the west side of the grounds. It was barely deep enough for our trailer but had good width. It has been wet in WI this year and that entire area was rutted and muddy, so the truck and trailer both were mud covered when we left. If not for that the stay would have been nicer. Gravel roads were also muddy in spots. We looked like we were off-roading by the time we left. We camped at Hickory Oaks Campground in a Travel Trailer.

We've stayed at Hickory Oaks more and more over the last few summers. They keep updating the campgrounds with gravel sites and road as it's getting more and more use during the summer venues Oshkosh offers. There's also a few cabins available with a large pont with sandy swim area.

It would be nice if the sites were laid out better for more angled back in and pull through's. Electric and water is okay for about 15 or so but no full hook-ups as they'd have to annex to the city to do that, so they provide a pump service if you have an extended stay and a dump station for when you pull out. We camped at Hickory Oaks Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

We also stay here for early season Green Bay Packers games. Then it's only a short 45 to 60 minute trip back to the camper after the game.

They are close to the Winnebago County Fairgrounds for Lifest, and not far from downtown Oshkosh via bike. There's a couple different trail routes from near the camprgound to get to the downtown area and the Wiouwash Trail that goes through four counties.

A pleasant surprise - CG with a 4200 ft landing strip. Fly in or RV in!! Nice setting in wooded area with an unusual positioning of sites - mostly good. Not a row after row! Position of water and electric boxes shared by 2 (electric) or 4 (water) is awkward but ok - maybe needing an extension. Dump station is easily accessible. We stayed here 1 night in a class B MH - no slides or toad. Showers are clean and very usable. We would stay here again! We camped at Hickory Oaks Campground in a Motorhome.

Found this campground after finding and visiting Tourist Information and picking up brochure (out of date - listed E/W at $24). We paid $30. Varying sizes of grassy sites "scattered" in among trees. Fire Ring - Picnic Table. Very peaceful setting. We only stayed one night. Did not use facilities so cannot comment. We would stay again if in the area. The lights in the shower are on a motion sensor and shut off half way through our showers. The showers are in the main building at the front of the campground and can be a long walk from a campsite. There are additional ones that were more primitive further into the campground. There is lots of room to maneuver to dump tanks. Several of the campsites are centered around a single electrical post and we had to back up fairly close to others to make our extension cord reach. It is a pretty place - farmland - and lots of trees. We camped at Hickory Oaks Campground in a Motorhome.

We stayed for over a month and were therefore eligible for the very reasonable monthly rates. The campgrounds are rather nice with walking trails, a pond with boats, and even a grass runway where the owner flies his Piper Cub. Pets are welcomed.

The Internet is slowish but better than we've had at other parks. We try not to rely on park Internet though in favor of a cellular hotspot. Showers are clean. The park is well maintained and quiet. We miss having sewer at individual campsites but there is a dump station available and a mobile dump (honey wagon) for a small fee.

The owner and his staff are very accommodating and exceedingly friendly. We're sad to be leaving but will definitely be back! We camped at Hickory Oaks Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Local food is underwhelming on the whole but Glass Nickel pizza is very good and nearby with fast delivery. Niko's Gyros is also very tasty about a 10 minute drive away. They claim to have delivery but it could be a very long wait. Oaks Candies on Main is a bit of an attraction. Tamara's just down the street from Oak's has amazing cupcakes.

We found this one by accident after declining staying at another in the area. This is a real gem. Site layout is random at best, but in a good way. One tent site is on the island in the middle of the pond. Unique! The rest are a mixture of back into the trees to out in the wide open. Everything is grass & yes, grass can get muddy when it rains. The most unique thing about the CG is that it has its very own airfield where, for a modest fee, one can get rides in a 1941 Piper, provided your weight is under 250#. Beautiful, quiet setting, with shaded, grassy sites. We stayed 5 nights to visit EAA Convention and liked the proximity of this campground to the airport, about 15 minutes by car. Improvement suggestions are: 1. Pave the campground road 2. add at least one more shower to the main shower / bath building for both men and women. With only one shower available at the main building, my husband had to wait 5-10 min. each time he used it. We would stay here again. We camped at Hickory Oaks Campground in a Motorhome.

We didn’t care for this park. Gravel drive but dirt roads. Looks like there was gravel once, a long time ago. Sites are on grass which quickly turns to mud. Sites are laid out in a haphazard manner. The electric hookup had no disconnect so I had plug in/out HOT, which could damage electrical components in the RV. Many of the sites were occupied by workers from around the country who follow the job openings. I talked to several who are good people just trying to get by as best they can. We stopped here to visit the EAA Museum. We camped at Hickory Oaks Campground in a Motorhome.

Nice RV park, friendly folks running it, sites are pretty close together, internet was not working (and a really cheap setup anyway), TV reception was great, would be nice to have sewer at each site, location was close to where we wanted, it was next to a landfill and prison (but the landfill was grassy and not a problem, the prison was just there). Lot's of nice restaurants in the area. Interstate construction made getting there a roundabout route, but we found it. Overall, we would stay there again. Biggest gripe was lousy internet. We camped at Hickory Oaks Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Hard to rate this park. It is basic but nice. Nothing fancy but well maintained. Grass sites mostly, some are gravel. There is a pond that kids go swimming at. Has some cabins right on the pond. Owner is great. He is a really accommodating guy. He has a piper cub plane that he will take you up in, he has a air strip in the back of the park. Location is great, right in Oshkosh. Lots of weekend campers here but quiet during the week. Wi-Fi is good but slows if too many people on it. Overall a nice park. We camped at Hickory Oaks Campground in a Fifth Wheel.
