We were looking for an overnight place between Keiler, WI and Houghton, MI and found this campground on RVParkReviews. All the reviews were old, but decided to take a chance and call. It is a campground designed for small rigs and there were lots of them parked there for the summer - no people around as it was mid-week. The friendly lady said that she had one pull-through we would fit in (we are 38 ft 5th wheel) and she would save it for us and to call her when we got there so she could guide us in - not to come to office. We did call and she did meet us and showed us to the site. It was a long pull-though - wide and had lots of room on both sides. There was a new electrical box and it had 50 amp! We were on upper level and completely surrounded by forest and some swampy areas just outside the grounds. It would have been a nice setting but for the mosquitoes. They were swarming the minute we opened the door. I thought they were going to carry off our little 20 pound dog. I know that insects are out of the control of the campground, but it was so miserable we couldn't be outside. We were instructed to pull out the next morning and go forward through another site and around the loop, but the trees were close and we were afraid to try, so we managed to back out onto the road and then pull out the main road. The office is also a tavern and I think the woman who does the check-ins is also the bartender! She was super helpful and friendly. We would not stay again - simply because we couldn't be outside. We camped at Lake George Campsite in a Fifth Wheel.

Date of Stay: August, 2010 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Nice quiet campground. Friendly staff. The upper campground is in a traditional wooded setting. The lower campground sites are close together but convenient if you have a boat. A water filter is recommended because of the high iron content in the water. There is a quiet road between the lower campground and the lake front. Very nice lake. Nice boat dock. Small beach. Good dock fishing. There is a dump station. Some seasonal campers. There is a bar on-site. Great food in the area. We stayed in the lower campground with our 35' rig and had plenty of room. We would stay here again. We camped at Lake George Campsite in a Motorhome.

Date of Stay: October, 2007 - $22.00
Overall Rating:

We arrived on October 5th knowing that the campground would turn off the water two days later. This is common during this time of the year. There are upper and lower areas in the campground. We were in the lower area which is across the street from the lake. Since the hookups were on the opposite side, we had to use an extension cord for the electric hookup. There are no pull-through sites in the lower area; however, we did not have any problems backing in our big rig. The campground was not crowded and very quiet during this time of the year. Visit their website; it provides photos and detailed information about the campsites. We would camp here again. We camped at Lake George Campsite in a Motorhome.
