5 Parks near Shawano, Wisconsin
Oct 2015 - $25.00
Stay at this campground at least 3 times per year. Have a lot of full-timers but enough for us occasional campers. Nice little park, clean and always upgrading. Has a trail for dogs to run. Many events throughout the year. We really like staying here and you will too. - gwinn1952

This is a family friendly park with lots of seasonal guests. The park is pet friendly. There is a nice pool and a beach(which we didn't see). There is a game room, a playground and miniature golf. There is a nice little store in the office but I was surprised to find it closed at 5 pm, especially since check in wasn't until 3 with an additional fee if you checked in early. The laundry was clean and reasonably priced. Wi-Fi is available but only free for 1/2 an hour. After that it is $2 for 24 hours and apparently it doesn't reach all sites. We were given sit L1 which is right outside the office and pool and across from the laundry and game room. It is used for guests just staying over night like we were. It was a nice spot because it was a weekday but I wouldn't touch it on a crowded weekend. There are no discounts to the rate so it is a bit steep for 2 adults just looking for a place to stop for the night but if you were a family who would enjoy all the amenities the park offered it would be reasonable. - Connie's Co-Owner

Upon pulling into the campground the owner immediately came up to our camper and stated that our son couldn't ride the rechargeable scooter that was strapped to the back of our camper. He never met us before so there is no way that he would have known our sons age. He's 17 and 1/2. Seems like age discrimination-making a judgment based on appearance. We were then told that there was no fishing because Otters ate all the fish. Per their website there was supposed to be great fishing on both lakes there. The main reason we went to this campground was to fish. We wanted to have 4 visitors for 2 hours and asked if there was a way to not have them have to pay the $32 charge for 4 visitors. We said our visitors would check in and out. They were unwilling to negotiate on the charge. The owner was very rude and lacked tact or any customer service skills and was very loud. Due to the lack of good fishing and the other factors, we decided to leave and not camp there. Later i emailed them and requested a refund. Our reasoning was false advertising about the fishing. They would not refund our fees. Due the rudeness of the owner, a complete unwillingness to negotiate on visitor fees, false advertising about fishing and the high charges for everything (firewood cost $6 per bundle for instance, they charge for wagon rides, charge $15 for a daily wristband for kids activities, charge for wifi, amongst other factors), I would not camp at this campground ever. - Jack forest

I would definitely stay at this park again. With everything that they had for activities it felt like a private campground instead of a county park. Fridays and Saturdays the campground was full when we were there. Sunday people pulled out in the afternoon and it quieted down. The beach and boat landing area were busy Saturday and Sunday. Great campground and we had a good time. There is also a golf course across the street. We had site 63 which was very large, but with all of the trees in the area and the narrow roads it looked like a challenge for those people with a 5th wheel or travel trailer. - kjcamper

Park was well-maintained. About half the sites are paved and half are not. The electric/water connections are strangely very far from the sites, so be sure to have plenty of hose and an extension cord (50 ft). The road through the sites is a little narrow and winding, especially in the back section by the dump station, which makes it a little challenging for big rigs. There are lots of trees which also can make it a challenge to back into a site. The playground is excellent. We stayed for an overnight, and would stay here again. - sendthefire
Jul 2013 - $22.00
Very nice park on the shores of Shawano Lake. Lots for everyone to do. Paddle boats, canoes, swim beach (no lifeguard), boat ramp, two bathhouses with showers, (50 cents) very clean. They pick up your trash in front of your site several times a day. Large play area for the younger kids and basketball, tennis court and kickball for the older ones. On site security. Would have given it a 10 except the utilities are strangely located away from the sites. We are in a back in, 50amp site and had to use a 25' extension cord as well as a 25' extension on our water hose. Many sites are big rig friendly, we are 45'. Verizon was OK, AT&T off and on. Only one handicapped site which was occupied by non handicapped campers. (Error by office staff, promised to be corrected.) - RVInn
Jul 2016 - $45.00
This park has a lot going for it as it includes an artificial swimming pond that has sand all around it. It is shallow on one side as well as on the edges. We had a pull thru site and for a pull thru it was very spacious. Our site was on the edge of a interior road and we had a lot of golf cart traffic well into the night and again early in the morning. Seems that golf carts are a big part of the experience here though I would rather walk. The site was very level and I didn't need to do any leveling. The campground delivers wood to your site and for $10 we got enough wood for two days so that was a great value. The bathrooms were decent and the showers worked great for us with a young son including have hot water. They also have a bar/pub on site, beach volleyball, and horseshoe pits.
The part that kind of bothered me is the adults in the site get free access to everything in the park. If your children would like access to the extra activities in the park it is an additional cost. They need a special wrist band for $20 to be able to use the bounce pillow, inflatable water park, the fishing pond/paddle boats area. Of course anyone that has kids are going to want this extra access band.
Check in was rather crazy as well as they could not find our reservation but after looking through the list three times they finally found it. In other campgrounds we have been in, they seem way more prepared at check in.
Overall we had a lot of fun, appreciated the spacious site and we would certainly go back. I enjoyed the swimming pond the most and the fact that the site was fairly spacious for a pull thru. - Schultefam
Jun 2016 - $21.00
Had a problem with the electric and the owner took care of it and gave us free firewood. Great lakeside site with view of pond and dam. We stayed in a 43-footer. No 50 amp but the 30 amp worked fine. - rdb1
Jul 2016 - $25.00
The bad: No pool, no playground, no showers, no dog walk, no wifi, and no additional facilities at all.
The good: A nice clean and well-maintained park with 57 sites half of which are pull through with plenty of space. As the sites are back to back: sharing power poles, water, and sewer hookups, the back yard is adjacent to the RV next door and very small. However, the front yard is spacious with fire pits and tables. Every site is within a short walk of the casino, and the trip back is even easier as you'll be lighter. You will receive a $10 free play card at the casino and an additional $10 if you are a new member in their "club." The cafe and restaurant and cafe are reasonable prices and the food fair. If that will not do for you, bring food as directions to the park are: go to the middle of nowhere, turn left (or right) and continue a goodly distance. There are a convenience store and gas station out front, and the gas pumps have plenty of clearance for a 13 foot high RV. There are porta potties throughout the campground and real bathrooms in the casino if you can make it that far. There is also free wifi in the casino. I also heard rumor of a golf course nearby. I didn't investigate that as I hire kids to put my balls in the hole when I play golf.
I don't think that tent camping is allowed. If desired you should call.
My wife and I think it's a good value as we never use the pool, volleyball nets, horseshoes, etc. The park is quiet, clean, and pretty with woods for the cat to hunt in. That saves money on cat food. We would not hesitate to stay there again.
And, they take reservations though they were not necessary when we were here. - The Penguin
Sep 2013 - $25.00
Stayed here a couple of years ago: no changes or improvements in the RV park. Seems not to be a priority with casino management. Sites are side by side and not level (pull through sites) and are either gravel or gravel. No showers, restrooms or WiFi available in thenRV park. On the plus side, this park is very quiet, however a little out of the way. Will stay only when passing through if in the area. - SWAMP
Aug 2013 - $25.00
Very nice campground on the grounds of a casino in the middle of nowhere . Spaces are narrow, and hookups are side-by-side. You get a card pre-loaded with $10 for slots play just for staying there. If you sign up for their Star Card, you get another $10. Both my husband and I signed up, so altogether we got $30 free play. I won $19 on the slots without putting any of my money in. So we got our campsite almost free. I looked at their menus. Their prices are very reasonable, unlike the casinos in Atlantic City. Don't follow Google directions. Follow the signs for the casino. They'll lead you right in there. - mrpeepers
