Been to Door County a bunch but always went to Fish Creek so we thought we would try something different this time. The campground is a bit tight to navigate around in. we tow a 35 foot TT and arrived at night and it was slow going, almost to the point that I thought my wife should walk behind to make sure I was clear. Trees line the road in the most troublesome spots and some show previous scars of some not so fortunate campers. In the end we made it and as long as you go slow you should also. We had no problem backing in but some others I watched seem to struggle a bit. The site was large and we had plenty of room. There was not much understory between the sites so it was somewhat open but other sites offered more. We could easily walk to the lake and was close to the city of Sturgeon Bay. I might look elsewhere for camping when visiting again only because of the narrowness of the roads but would not rule it out. We camped at Potawatomi State Park in a Travel Trailer.

If you trailer a boat there is a boat launch in the park also. If you have small children check out the Farm about 20 minutes away

It took over 30 minutes for the clerk to find a site. She keep saying it was the computer but she showed a site available and it was not and after driving around the large park at night we settled on a site that was so tight I could no put my slides out. The rate of $44.00 included $11.00 for out of state people. I may have rated it higher if I had a choice of sites during daylight but as I said it took so long to find a site I told her Let's just act as if I was coming in after close and I'll pay in the morning. They also wanted to charge friends of mine the $11.oo just to come into the park and pick me up! They did let them in without pay after I told them they would not be getting out of their car!

I would never stay in a Wisconsin state park again at there rates We camped at Potawatomi State Park in a Motorhome.

I included the $10 daily entrance fee in the total amount for the nightly rate. This is a very nice camping area, with large sites in the woods. It was very quiet when we were there, even though it is the summer season. There is only electric for service, so we wouldn't use it for long, but for three days it was fine. You can fill your rig with water at the dump area near the front gate. We went to Green Bay and up into the Door Peninsula while here. We were happy to have a strong Verizon signal. We would come here again. We camped at Potawatomi State Park in a Motorhome.

The road within the CG area of this park is not for a large RV & a driver who has a weak stomach for tight places. Anything over 35' is going to be challenging getting around the one way road. Site wise many are very long & very roomy. Well worth the effort of getting in. We camped at Potawatomi State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed here while traveling to Wisconsin to visit our son and his family. This is a very nice park. The staff was friendly and the facilities were very well maintained. We had hardly parked on our site when the host came by and said if we needed anything to let him know. The site we had was large, level, and had recently had new gravel put on it. The adjacent town of Sturgeon Bay was a very nice place to visit. We would definitely return to this park if in the area again. We camped at Potawatomi State Park in a Motorhome.

The park setup gave a fair amount of privacy, especially if the campground is half full. We had little difficulty maneuvering although others may. In season probably requires reservations. We were disappointed that the tower was closed already. A good park to bike in and not far from the shops and museums in Sturgeon Bay. We camped at Potawatomi State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This was a perfect place for a family. It was quiet at night as the park doesn't allow rowdy people. We slept listening to nature, not noise!!! It was beautiful. We had a blast exploring the park. The kids got to learn about nature and how to respect it too. A really nice place to visit. The rangers were great and didn't tolerate trouble makers or loud disrespectful guests. We loved the serenity of our weekend in August. I don't remember the exact date, but it was hot and so nice in the shade of the trees! We had a thick grove of trees around us and it was a lot cooler. Also, you have privacy when you are surrounded by vegetation!!! We didn't feel like we were in a parking lot of crowded people, like some private campgrounds are like. We camped at Potawatomi State Park in a Tent.

Not suitable for big rigs. Narrow, winding roads in campground, some sites very small. Quieter cousin to Peninsula State Park, more off the beaten path. Beautiful view from observation tower 225 feet above Sturgeon Bay. We camped at Potawatomi State Park in a Travel Trailer.

This is a beautiful park with wonderful water access. The roads into the campground area are not very wide, but the roads in the campground area are really narrow. We could not get into the site we had reserved due to the narrow road with no ability to turn the truck. We were give site 37 which had a place across the street for turning. No problem getting in then. However, the exit area is very narrow and takes some good maneuvering to get through. There is only one shower house in the entire campground. I can imagine that on a busy weekend, there would be quite a wait. Due to our 38 feet, we would probably not try to get into this campground again but would definitely visit for all the wonderful kayaking and hiking. We camped at Potawatomi State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Full wooded sites, not much screening from the neighbors but the sites are big enough so that is a minor complaint. Only 1 shower/flush toilet building for the 2 loops (125 campsites). Vault toilet didn't seem conveniently placed. This was a good place to stay as a base camp for visiting Door Co. Next time I'll have the yaks and take advantage of all the beautiful water access they have. There is an additional $10/day park entrance fee that bugs me. I've not had that anywhere before. We camped at Potawatomi State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

Gorgeous, heavily wooded CG in wooded state park located alongside ship channel (between Green Bay & Lake Michigan). Electric sites have been added to the 25 or so original ones, so now about 1/2 the lower loop has hookups; some 50 amp sites available. Trouble is, the CG has very narrow, winding roads and big rigs would have difficulty getting in here. Even the park roads are not very big-rig friendly, before you reach the CG! Sites are well-spaced, and camphosts & rangers patrol on foot as well as in vehicles, so the CG is orderly and very quiet! Pit toilets and flush toilet/showerhouse are kept clean, but are older & unremarkable. Some noise from neighboring small airport (small private planes only). Beautiful trails along shoreline and bluffs; good biking as well. Potawatomi is the eastern terminus of the 1000-mile Ice Age trail, which ends in Interstate SP in n.w. Wisconsin. Though overshadowed by its big beautiful sister, Peninsula SP, 25 miles north, this is a wonderful park and good base for Door County visits. Highly recommend for tents, popups and small to midsize trailers & motorhomes. We camped at Potawatomi State Park in a Travel Trailer.
