Overall Rating:

I want to be up front this is a rustic campground. It is in the national forest and the lake is within view of almost every site.

Some of what the park offers. Over half of the sites you can reserve have direct water access. Our site had about 10 steps to get to the water. At this point you can just enjoy the view or fish from the spot. The campground also has a beach area to swim in and a sandy area to play in. This is a lake and the water is a little murky. Lilly pads exist on both sides of the swimming area and we could see thousands of tadpoles along the edge of swimming area. The park does not have showers, only has vault toilets, and the water is from hand pumps. The vault toilets were decent and about as clean as a vault toilet can be. It does not have a dump station but there is a nearby campground that lets you use there dump station for $10.

The site we had, #17, was flat and had plenty of room. We had a gravel pad, a picnic table and a large fire pit.

Overall we went here from some quiet and to get away from electronics. The only thing that interrupted our quiet time was the constant attack by large horse fly's. Though you would have to expect that considering the park is located in the middle of a National Forest. In the end we got what we wanted and spent some quality time enjoying nature, fishing, and got to leave the electronics at home. We camped at Bear Lake Campground (Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest) in a Travel Trailer.
