Don't follow your GPS to this park. It had us turning the wrong way on US12. Follow the road signs. Staff is aware of this issue but does not warn you. Entrance to the park is a steep drop off. To get to our site we had to climb a very steep hill, negotiate a tight turn just to go back down a very steep hill. Roads are narrow and the turns tight but we were able to navigate through with our big rig (43 foot fiver). They could make it easier by changing the road directions (one way streets). Trees need to be trimmed back. Site was gravel but well compacted. Not particularly level. All the connections are at the back of the site making our sewer run the deciding factor on how we parked. Rained like crazy while we were there (7 inches) but we had no washout issues. Very wooded but we were able to get a satellite lock. Water pressure was good and wifi signal strong (but slow). No cable connection and we could not pick up any channels on the antenna. Normally not a concern but with bad weather moving through it would have been nice to be able to see the local weather warnings. With all the rain we had the river was up four feet and running fast (which made the narrows a little exciting) but they had it all in hand. We camped at Sherwood Forest Camping & RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Great park with close access to water parks. Close to interstate. Only reason it did not get a 10 rating was the lack of cable tv. We camped at Sherwood Forest Camping & RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Normally, we are happier than the reviews. This was the first time we were disappointed. First, the negative reviews about the train noise is overblown (no pun intended). We heard it, but did not keep us awake. The location is A+! Easy walking distance to a lot of amenities! The check in staff is great! Then it all falls apart. The site is tight - it's difficult to get to your site. Trucks everywhere - multiple cars/trucks per site. We arrived and realized our neighbor took our picnic table since he had 20+ people. I asked if we could have it back and he said "what are you going to cry to management?" Trash on our site, fire pit not cleaned (we reserved two nights), music blaring from other sites, it was a nightmare. We left the next day for activities and asked if we could have a picnic table when we returned. Didn't happen. The playground had caution tape around it as it was damaged. The bathrooms/ showers were the dirtiest, most disgusting we have ever encountered. No paper products, out of order toilets, filthy, cold water showers. The campers here have zero respect for others. It is hands down, the worst experience we have ever had in a campground. This could be a great campground but it is so mismanaged I would encourage you you to stay elsewhere. Stay someplace else. We camped at Sherwood Forest Camping & RV Park in a Motorhome.

Lots of mature trees at different locations, but we were in the sun. Gravel on site on ground that is level to begin with. Table and fire ring. For our RV with a trailer to tow, the FHU's were designed for trailers/ 5th wheels, so I had to use extensions to use the FHU's, but that was not a problem for me. Wife's complaint was, for the price we paid, and we didn't use all the amenities. At least they could have had cable available since TV reception was not available (They even said on their brochure at check-in that TV was a "maybe available" for 4 channels.) Convenient to everything in the Dells and easy to get in and out. Only one problem we noticed and that is the fact that there is a railroad track somewhere nearby. Would we stay here again? For the price we paid and the non-use of amenities available, I doubt it. We camped at Sherwood Forest Camping & RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Paul Bunyon Cook Shack is a must eat at place. Stay away from The Dock Bar and Grill as it is very expensive and service was terrible the day we went there. Old Duck Tours and the Dells, upper and lower, are a must. Go to Tommy Bartletts water show for the evening performance.

Site we were on was somewhat private considering it was on a main road thru the park. 32' trailer and crew cab pickup fit easily with plenty of room to spare. Check in was a breeze as the staff is very friendly and helpful. Store seems to be well stocked if we were to forget something. Very nice campground. We have stayed here several times and will definitely be back. As a matter of fact we will be booking a site for later next month. We camped at Sherwood Forest Camping & RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

After you check in there is a narrow drive up a hill that is very manageable. I have a 40', 5th wheel and had no problems. Pavement may be narrow, but the trees on the side are not close. Due to past reviews, we emphasized that we were concerned about site size. We were placed in the middle of the campground where there were 10-20 sites that were very spacious. We had our camper and two vehicles and still had a roomy site. The pool and splash pad were newer and perfect for kids. Playground was older equipment that was maintained. The biggest frustration we saw was the lack of cleaning sites and playground. After a busy weekend, cups and bottles were laying in many sites and the playground, and stayed there for 2 days. We camped at Sherwood Forest Camping & RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

The roads are are very narrow and very windy. They have a very steep hill you have to get up. I don't think this park is made for large 5th wheels. The curves are very sharp. We won't be staying here again due to the roads. We camped at Sherwood Forest Camping & RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Roads are narrow and there is a very steep hill to the sites at the back. Staff was pleasant and suggested we take our car off our tow before making our way to our rear campsite. It was a good suggestion since we had tight turns all the way. Our 45' w/tow just barely fit into the pull-thru they assigned us with tight quarters for car parking. Lots of ruts at the edges of sites that filled with water during a couple heavy rains. We may have been able to pull in but had to remove trailer from the back of the rig to back out of our site to leave. There was a small maple right near the front left of the site that prevented us from pulling forward to leave. Sites were close together and it was moderately loud at night. We camped at Sherwood Forest Camping & RV Park in a Motorhome.

Lots to do in the Dells. Don't miss visiting Circus World in Baraboo to see all the beautifully restored circus wagons, some of them from the late 1800 and 1900's. Sunset Dinner Cruise with Dells Boat Tours was good and our meal of steak & lobster was pretty good.

Stayed here during Father's day weekend. It was a first time experience with our new class C. Having spent the weekend here we realized we should have bought a travel trailer but being right in the Dells was nice. We took walks right into downtown. The layout was nice but some of the hills were pretty steep for the trailers to get up and down in. With all the tree cover our satellite dish never came in but that's part of the experience, right? The pool and splash pad was nice and because of all the water parks around us it was not crowded. They had a really nice shade canopy. Staff was really friendly. Firewood costs bugged me; the bundle would be burned up in an hour but everybody around me came in with their truck beds full of logs and I thought Wisconsin had firewood laws. Entire park looked easy to maneuver around. Overall a good time. We camped at Sherwood Forest Camping & RV Park in a Motorhome.

Being right in the Dells made it easy for my teens to walk into town for McDonald's and Starbucks so it our roughing it experience was gradual.Keep an open mind and pick your battles; at least we were together.

We stayed Thur-Sun early June. Prices are comparable to other private campgrounds with W/E/S. Perfect location right off the main fairway. Ask for site towards back to avoid road noise. Entrance is rather sudden and right as lanes go from 2 to 1. I only mention this in case you are towing a big rig with cars behind you. Staff were friendly. Sites are very narrow but we checked out other campgrounds in the area and this was by far one of the best. Lots of pull thrus (which we had) Being a tourist area all the campgrounds are trying to cram what they can into a given space. Restrooms and showers were clean. As expected, they are centrally located for tent campers. Shower requires two hands as water stays on less than 10 secs at a time. We stayed on site 140 which by far was the largest but it faces the side of a warehouse building up a steep hill. I didn't like that at first but in the end it was very quiet and private and much roomier compared to all the other sites. Sites are pretty level for the most part. Walking distance from Pirate's Cove Golf and Entertainment. Garbage is centrally located. WiFi was fine on Thurs but pretty non-existent rest of the weekend. We camped at Sherwood Forest Camping & RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

The campground is now being operated by the children of the original owners and there is no pride of ownership any more. The staff is rude and none responsive to health issue such as human waste in the pool area and pool; my wife had to track down the maintenance manager to get any action. The roadways are very narrow; sites are small trying to maximize the number of campers. Noise control is a thing of the past, load music that could be heard over the barking dogs with no owner’s in-site of the dogs. The garbage bins where over full-on Thursday and by Monday it was the worst. There were numerous families camping on the same camp site either in tents or tents and a trailer where there should have been just one family to a site. For $59 a night (this includes the tax for a full hook-up site) I think the campground should have been run a little better than this. We camped at Sherwood Forest Camping & RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.
