This is a big RV Park but it is mostly filled up with Seasonal rentals. Roads are paved but there are trees very close to the road which makes for some nervous driving. Trees are well trimmed so we did not have any issues with our big rig (43 foot fiver, 13.5 feet tall) but it sure seemed close. Our site was gravel and dirt back in (site 282). Trees were close on either side which made it tricky to back into. But the staff provided good guidance. With the slides open we were brushing up against the pine trees on either side which blocked off access to the picknik table and the back portion of the site. The trees did provide a lot of privacy. WiFi was only available at the office/store. Site did come with local cable (40 channels) which required a separate provided remote ($20 deposite on the remote). Trees were too thick to pick up satellite TV. Cell phone coverage was good. Very quiet park which is what we were looking for. We would stay here again. We camped at Indian Shores Camping Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

Interesting park with a mix of "RV Resort" type users (both mini-homes and RV units) and rentals. Price was higher than many campgrounds, but we were there at the height of the summer vacation season so it was reasonable for the area and the season. Sites are narrow and not the easiest to get into, with somewhat narrow streets, but manageable even for our 40 ft. motor home. The area is heavily wooded so each site is well isolated from its neighbor. Site was level and with full hookups. The cable wire had been pulled out of the box and not functional, but we didn't come here for the TV so we ignored it. Only one station available via antenna. Verizon service sucked, with 4G around town and out by the road but not in the camp ground. Our AT&T hot spot, however, worked well for 4G data service. One weird thing is that they have renamed their road to Camp Stronghorn and that shows on some maps, but NOT in the USPS database or in their official site identification plate or the road sign off of WI 47 or in all GPS systems. It is still Indian Shores Road by signage and in the USPS database for ZIP codes . Being full timers, we have our mail forwarded and use Amazon a lot and this turned out to be a royal pain. The Camp Stronghorn Road is NOT recognized by the Postal Service, UPS or Fed Ex as a valid address, and the counter staff is oblivious to the fact that it doesn't work, even though they admit to having several complaints about it not working. We camped at Indian Shores Camping Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

It's a summer resort town with a series of interconnected lakes, accessible from Lake Tomahawk at the resort. The main attractions are the water with fishing, boating, etc. The lakes seemed busy but not over crowded even on the week of July 4. We came to be with family and found the atmosphere very congenial for family activities, with water related events primary. There are good restaurants in the area and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the North Woods of Wisconsin.

If you like wood ticks and mosquitoes this is the park for you. Owners were very rude, and bathrooms were not clean and sites were terrible. We have never been so happy to leave a campground. I want to say the bathrooms were not clean, that would be polite, they were dirty. The owner was very rude to both me and my wife, and insulting. The roads are very narrow so if you have a large unit, you are going to have issues. Our electric did not work, and went up to the building, it took several hours before someone showed up, and they did turn it on. The boat dock is very shallow and we ended up not being able to launch here and had to drive another five miles to find a decent launch which was very busy and charged us extra. The mosquito's were so bad that we could not sit by the fire not matter how much spray we used, we are campers so a few bugs do not bother us, this was bad. We are not hard to please and I have never written a bad review before, so trust me when I tell you it is not a place we will ever stay again. We camped at Indian Shores Camping Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Minocqua downtown is super. The whole area including Lake Tomahawk was great, this campsite, not so much. There are many very nice campgrounds, a couple State owned also in this area.

I have very mixed feelings about this park. If you are a big rig (40 ft & over) I suggest that you take a ride in your towed vehicle and check out your site before accepting it. We were "escorted" to our pull-thru site (#12). After negotiating a terribly tight corner we arrived at the lake next to a busy boat ramp, the beach (?) and the boat rental. The sewer hookup was unusable regardless of the length of your hose due to location and we found it necessary to back our 45' motorhome up the steep hill in order to get out of the site because of tight turns & trees. We later found many acceptable sites which we could have occupied. Personnel in the office were not friendly nor were they knowledgeable about what size rigs can negotiate their very tight roads. Much of the park is park models. It is very treed so we had no satellite. I believe that we would have rated this park higher had personnel been more attuned to the needs of their customer. The $30 rate was an out-of-season rate. We camped at Indian Shores Camping Resort in a Motorhome.

We stayed at Indian Shores in July of 2015. I can't say enough good things about this campground. We stayed in site 601 which looks very narrow on their map, but we had plenty of space and the positioning of the site gave us sweeping views of Lake Tomahawk as well as the Campground's beach. Each day saw people cleaning and weed whacking in order to keep up appearances. Our site was perfectly level left to right but pitched a little toward the lake. Not a big deal, just had to drop the landing gear a bit. We had 50A and full hookup without any issues. We had friends staying in one of the pull through sites which had a full concrete slab. They loved that area as they have small dogs and found it easier to take them out there, but it was relatively hot on their site versus ours which was close to the lake getting the great lake breeze. We rented a boat from the campground on Saturday and had an Amazing time. The store was not very well stocked, but they have an RV dealership out by the road that had all of the camping needs...just not at the store. Their firewood wasn't sold or stored in bundles, but real wood that was seasoned and burned well stored in an outbuilding. The seasonal folks (of which there were many) have their places teally decked out nice and the sites are huge with many storing their boats on their site. This was the best overall camping experience we've ever had and this will definitely be on our list of places to return to every year - if not more than once per year. We camped at Indian Shores Camping Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Have lunch at the Boathouse. Rent a boat and see the lakes. The boat was like new and even though it was on the smallish side (17' bowrider with 115 outboard), it had plenty of space inside for 6 of us and we were able to go through the various lakes on the Minocqua Chain. Beer Can Island on Lake Kawaguesaga and jump of the tree that hangs out over the water. Rent a motorized chaise lounge from the campground and head over to the beach at the state park where you can do some shelling and soak up some sun. Be prepared to get a lot of looks though as the motorized chaise lounge is something nobody has ever seen before.

A very nice campground. We stayed here for the 4th of July weekend. Our site was in the circle with the lake view. They had someone show us to our site and helped me back into site #2 which had a cement pad. It was more than big enough to walk around the trailer with the slide and awning out. We had an OK view of the lake, a site farther down in the circle would have been a better view, but ours was OK. There was a total of 6 cement pad sites with lake views. Twp of which were down by the beach. These could be nice except you get the boat launch traffic, and due to the winds "DO NOT use your awinings! They have plenty of choices for sites, from wooded to open with a few trees. They have a small pool that we didn`t use, but it didn`t seem packed even for a holiday weekend. The beach area was OK, but being on the windy side of the lake all the debris would wash up on the beach, just sticks and such. It was rather rocky with larger pebbles. The restaurant was surprisingly excellent! The game room could use a little more room and a few more games, otherwise it was OK. This campground is older and they need to start adding to the park to keep up with the added sites. The drive into Minocqua, Woodruff is short. Obviously there's lots to see and do in the area. We actually found a nice secluded beach off of county road "D" that was picture perfect, I believe the name of the lake was Big Carr Lake. All in all, a nice campground, we will be back. Very expensive. While the site had a big concrete pad, there was no mature grass, just straw and some new grass popping up. In time it would be ok, but the price was just plain out of line. We were promised sites (a group of us were here together) on the lake, but when we arrived, they had given them to others. Instead we were put in this new area, quite a distance from the water. Most of the park is seasonal sites with park homes or trailers. On the plus side, it is well kept and very clean. The power pedestals etc., were first rate. The area is beautiful with lots of water, woods, fishing etc. Had it been a better value for money, I would have rated it higher. We camped at Indian Shores Camping Resort in a Motorhome.

All the facilities one might want at a seasonal RV Resort. Lots of "Park" models everywhere. The main focus here is selling lots. The daily rentals are put on dirt sites that have not been sold yet. Sure they are full hookup, but that's it. Dirt and mud is the name of the game. We felt like outsiders too. We camped at Indian Shores Camping Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

We returned to this CG this year for 8 days. They are investing alot in improving the CG and it shows. While much of it is "condo" RV lots, there are still plenty of overnight spots. The folks running the place are so friendly and accommodating. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend it highly, it has lots for the kids to do and it's so unique. The location near Minocqua is fabulous and there is so much to do. Some sites are more level than others, but its a really special place, I enjoyed walking the dog around the resort. Wish the weather was better, it was cool in early June and it rained alot so we didn't get to use the pool, but it looked very nice and well maintained. Recent upgrades to the playground. The main lodge has a bar/restaurant and store with limited grocery items, and also a gameroom for the kids. Plus a full marina on site, views of Lake Tomahawk, plus a swimming beach. We returned this year to this campground. Staff was helpful and very willing to go out of their way to make us comfortable. Constant upgrades are being done which is nice, but made the days loud with paving equipment and other machinery running. We will return. Very big park. Nice wooded lots. The lot we were in #20 was near a field. Mostly dirt no grass on our lot nor any trees except near road. Lots to do at the campground. Older playground equipment and outdoor pool. Advertises a restaurant but it was empty every time we went in and just seemed like a bar. Nice boat launch and space to keep a boat and trailer. Fishing was terrible off pier. No Wi-Fi at our site. I am not sure if you were closer to the main building if you would get Wi-Fi. Not very happy about site with all dirt but it was a last minute reservation. We camped at Indian Shores Camping Resort in a Travel Trailer.

This campground is an older one, but they are in the process of major updates and upgrades. Converting it to a RV Resort. Staff was friendly. Lots of heavily wooded large sites. Very quiet. Saw many deer throughout the park. I have already booked another trip in July. This is in my top 5!! We camped at Indian Shores Camping Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Based on earlier reviews I wasn't sure what to expect but we were pleasantly surprised. Yes, they are making many improvements, it is a work in progress but I like seeing your camping fee being re-invested. I didn't mind the price because it was like camping in a State park with full hookups! The surroundings were beautiful. We didn't use the cable TV, but had good antenna reception. The resort is converting over to conduminium RV but they still have sites for rent, hopefully that won't change much as the sites are sold. The lake is beautiful. Cute lodge with a bar and restaurant and activities hall; a swimming pool and lots of activities for the kids. Nice camp shop. Great beach and marina. This place is huge but laid out so that the sites are very spacious, some sites are more wooded and private than others. You have a big variety of sites, from heavily wooded (wouldn't even try to pull our trailer through those loops) to a bit more open (we were in the 15-37 loop). They just put in two large big-rig pull throughs right on the water, with an amazing view. It's a bit pricey for our full hookup site but I felt it was worth it compared to other area campgrounds, what you get for the money. And very convenient to Minocqua area activities. We have camped here several times in the past at first with a 31' travel trailer and now with a 40' motorhome. The park is an old Boys Camp dating to the 40's and while some of the buildings show their age we find the it quite charming and a pleasant snapshot of what the old northwoods was like. There is a restaurant and bar overlooking the the large, beautiful Lake Tomahawk as well as a large marina with many slips for your own boat as well as a gas dock. Lake Tomahawk is part of the Minocqua chain of lakes. There is a new big rig section which was open but was still under construction we prefer the older sections which are closer to the lake. They also have a RV trailer dealership and service center. The service center has been very helpful to me in dealing with some minor problems and at no charge. We camped at Indian Shores Camping Resort in a Motorhome.
