Park all flat gravel with wide spaces. No shade or tables. View of mountains. Fish pond, fenced dog area. Very nice walk/bike path next to park. We camped at Fort Caspar Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Clean park. Interior gravel roads were easy to navigate in a 38' MH and the pull through was long enough for rig and attached tow. Site was almost level and did not use jacks as we were only staying one night. Water and electric connections were good. Satellite TV reception was good as the sites are all open. Wifi was good for an RV Park. Verizon phone and data was average. We camped at Fort Caspar Campground in a Motorhome.

We stopped for one night on the way to Colorado. It's a big gravel parking lot but certainly adequate. Satellite hooked up no problem as there are no trees and we had a good Verizon signal. Was just fine for one night pass through. We camped at Fort Caspar Campground in a Motorhome.

Good overnight place to stay. A lot of residents & a lot of over nighters too. Verry nice people in office & staff. Long narrow Pull through sites. Very low outside noise level. Campground is all gravel, sites & roads. Wide roads make it easy to get in & out of camp sites. Washer / dryer clean & good operation. 1.75 & 1.00 Campground entrance / exit has big rock that must be careful to navigate around. Doable & keeps traffic slow. Would stay again for a couple nights. We camped at Fort Caspar Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Park is nothing special, but a decent overnight spot. Gravel everything, but sites are level, long, and spacious. Plenty of permanents that the owners should have clean up around their coaches. Friendly office staff. No cable, but plenty of air channels. Park is a little confusing to find since it's in an industrial area. They have a huge bolder separating the entry and exit road, so be careful when entering and especially leaving. There is a sign posted to swing wide so you'll have enough clearance to miss the bolder. We camped at Fort Caspar Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

This was a one-night stopover, and for that it met our needs. I would not stay longer term without a pretty good reason. Most spaces were occupied by long term workers, and it was basically a very large parking area with hookups. There were plenty of amenities, no pool, with several recreational opportunities, although I didn't see anybody using them. The bathrooms and showers were dated, with inferior construction, and flimsy shower curtains instead of doors in the bathroom stalls. Interior roads were gravel, as well as the sites, with a little dust, but not bad. There were lots of parked vehicles that required careful, but not difficult, navigation. We would consider staying here again if we were just passing through. We camped at Fort Caspar Campground in a Motorhome.

This is a satisfactory lay over camp. Good for a one night stay. The sites are gravel and level but tight. WIFI is poor. No tables, hookups are okay. Many pets and children. Speed bumps are present. Big dip as you enter. Many TV stations using antenna. If you are planning a two day or more stay I suggest using another camp. We camped at Fort Caspar Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Date of Stay: July, 2016 - $36.00
Overall Rating:

After reading other reviewers of the Fort Caspar Campground I have to agree with what they wrote, but not about the numerical rating that they gave the campground. I think this campground is underrated. Several reviewers commented that there are many full time residents of this park which is true, but why does it have to distract from the campgrounds numerical ratings? Yes, a few of the residential RVs were old and not in perfect shape, but most were well taken care of and looked very neat and orderly. There also, quite a few people in very high end motorhomes as well. As far as the Wi-Fi was concerned, I could only access it at the front office, but this is a common complaint with most RV parks that offer free Wi-Fi. However, this campground was trying to do something about the quality of the Wi-Fi, so when the clerk at the front desk found out that I could not even detect the Wi-Fi signal from my campsite, she gave me the password to the clerk's personal Wi-Fi hotspot, so that my wife could surf from our motorhome.

Everything else that you read about this campground is true, gravel sites, not much shade, but you have friendly staff to help you out and it is in a convenient location in the middle of Casper, WY. One thing that I did not see mentioned was the walking trails around the campground. My wife and I saw these walking trails on the campground map and decided to take a walk. We found the small tent camping area near fish ponds to be very pretty, but some of the other trails seemed to be overgrown, so much so that my wife decided not to continue. But all in all we found this campground to be much more pleasant that the numerical ratings suggest. We camped at Fort Caspar Campground in a Motorhome.

$39 with a Good Sam discount for this place is crazy. It is mostly full of full time residents. It is all gravel, no grass, no picnic table, no fire pit. It's a place to park no more. If I hadn't needed hook ups for the night Wal-Mart would have been better. The folks that run the place are very friendly however. We camped at Fort Caspar Campground in a Travel Trailer.

We tried River's Edge first but they were full, it seems the oil workers have taken it over.

I phoned in for a reservation a couple of day before we arrived in Casper, and was quoted a slightly lower price for our stay than what we were charged on arrival. However, the rate was still satisfactory. The lady that checked us in was knowledgeable and cordial. The park is much better kept than the last time we used it, and we found it to be a pleasant place to stay. The things that were not quite as advertised; Wi-Fi, weak and VERY slow. Cable TV, not really available. The desk attendant mumbled something about having to get a cable box from the cable company. Not worth following up on, as we were in Casper for shopping and dining. I will probably use this campground in the future, as it is well located for getting around Casper. We camped at Fort Caspar Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Easy access to downtown Casper, and while the Mall is a ways away, freeway and main street access makes the trip easy. There are also several top notch RV dealers and service centers in the area which is nice.

Staff was very friendly and helpful at check in. Gravel roads and sites with a lot of older trailers. No cable but local channels. Could not get WiFi to work. Lot of dust. Would not stay again for full price of $44.00, as owner stated that next year they would probably not be PA. We camped at Fort Caspar Campground in a Motorhome.

Rate reflects PA discount for two days and full price for one. Check-in was easy. Parking is on gravel (the whole park is gravel) with good power and water. Speed limit is 5 MPH but hardly anyone observes that so there is a lot of dust kicked up. The cable TV system was down while we were here. There is free WiFi and although I could connect to the network, it was painfully slow. Satellite reception is good throughout the park. There are a lot of permanent residents that do not keep their sites very tidy. My value rating of 2 stars is based on the $44 a night full-price. Charging that for a gravel parking lot with very bad. WiFi is not a good value. The only reason we stay here is for the Passport America discount. If that wasn't offered, we would definitely go somewhere else. Tips for other Campers:

When arriving, there is a dip at the entrance. Go slow. If you are going to be here a while, get a air filtering machine. A lot of dust!

I stayed from March - Sept. on a monthly basis (hence the rate). This park is under NEW management - and they are GREAT - very different from the prior manager.

Good location in W Casper (near Mills). Safe - secure - and a great place to live while working in town. New playground for kids. Bathrooms are immaculate.

Two concerns - water pressure is fairly low and water is VERY hard (I bought an anode to save my water tank.) We camped at Fort Caspar Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Casper is a great center for historic sites - all major westward migrations in the 1800's passed right through here.
