Very scenic waterfront park. Close to Cody and an hour or less to Yellowstone. Fairly quiet, but with some highway noise. Nicely spaced sites and does not feel crowded. Very few hookup sites, so book earlier during peak season if you want electric and water. Has dump station. Best suited for self-contained rigs, as park has minimal facilities. We camped at Buffalo Bill State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Had to get a first come first serve and they don't have any hookups.
Nice view over the lake. Nice little town.
I would stay here again. We camped at Buffalo Bill State Park in a Motorhome.

This is a beautiful park one of the most scenic ones we have stayed in so far. They only have a few sights with electric and water so book early. The grounds are well kept and the host were great very helpful we are definitely going to stay here if we are in the area! We stayed in the North fork area. We camped at Buffalo Bill State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Only about 39 miles from yellowstone National Park and 15 miles to Cody. We camped 4 days and could have stayed longer; we didn't see everything. There were mule deer and elk so close and beautiful geese that flew over everyday. We would highly recommend this park.

Stayed here for 3 nights. Cody has a lot to offer. Pros: Views are really stunning, especially great to wake up to, and $22 for elecric/water is pretty good. For the most part the sites are level, have picnic tables and fire pits. Cons: I don't much like the side-of-the-road parking, never enough room between you and RVs passing by. I was able to put out my awning but bigger rigs weren't. Also the shore is very rocky, hard for pets or people to walk, and the wind can be very strong. Overall the pros outweigh the cons - I'd stay here again. We camped at Buffalo Bill State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Lots to explore in Cody, including the Old Town, the 7-acre under 1 roof Cody Museum, and breakfast or lunch at Irma's.

This was a great campground with space enough between sites. Our site sat on a bluff overlooking the lake. The site was clean and services worked perfectly (50 amp and water hookup, dump station). There was no wifi available. Although we didn't need the showers, I imagine someone who does would be put out about traveling to another campground down the road 5 miles. We camped at Buffalo Bill State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Be sure to tour the Buffalo Bill Center of the West to learn all about Buffalo Bill Cody. There are six museums in the complex so wear good walking shoes.

We did not get a water & electric site, as the few they have are taken but we do have a no hookup site for the night. Rangers at both campgrounds in the park did not know if there would be any W/E sites available in the morning; one said he didn't think there would be. For the night we figured dry camping would be OK but didn't want to do it for 4 or 5 nights. I guess we should have made a reservation. I thought if we got there early enough we could still get an electric site. I forgot the weekend was coming up. This was a Thursday didn't realize the state park is on a lake and would be busy. No hookup sites, they had plenty open. Stayed only 1 night. BB State Park is a nice park. The Shoshone River runs through the park. Lots of water, nice views. It has 2 campgrounds and each has some W/E sites. The North Shore Bay campground has 37 sites of which 7 are W/E. This is the nicer of the 2 as it is on the water. North Fork Campground that we were in for the night has 62 sites, 8 W/E. This one is not on the water. If you want a w/e site you most likely will need to reserve one. We camped at Buffalo Bill State Park in a Motorhome.

We felt this park was a real find. Our space was waterfront, with a beautiful view of the lake. A little rustic, but met our needs. 6 miles into Cody, WY gave us the chance to go in and go to the museum. Would definitely stay there again just for the view. We travel in a 37' RV. We camped at Buffalo Bill State Park in a Motorhome.

Nice and simple park. Freeway traffic slowed at night. Easy and beautiful drive into Cody, Wy. Only a few electric and water sites but as said, everything worked and was clean. Good Verizon cell and data coverage. We camped at Buffalo Bill State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

The best showers I've ever seen! Biking with a tent, and for $10 I've never been happier! No sharing of mirror or toilet. Local sheriff was out of this world! View awesome! We camped at Buffalo Bill State Park in a Tent.

We stayed 4 nights and enjoyed the park. There is a fire circle and picnic table with each site, most were fairly level though there were some that might have been challenging. We had a site in the water/electric area and the sites were all pull-through; our 35' RV and Jeep fit nicely. The view over the lake is stupendous. We visited the Dam Visitor Center, the Buffalo Bill Museums, drove the Beartooth Hwy and the Chief Joseph (which is more beautiful than the Beartooth) and the Heart Mt. Japanese Relocation Center. We also ate at Our Place for breakfast. All were great and I'd recommend all of these, along with the park. We'd definitely return. We camped at Buffalo Bill State Park in a Motorhome.

First... there are two campgrounds at BBSP. The East end is has exceptional views of the mountains and is lake front. The West campground is green grass, river view with mountains all around. Both are wonderful! Second... the reservable sites are the only sites with electric. The first-come-first-served sites have NO services. Water is available at the entrances and located around the camp. Dump stations are at the entrance of both campgrounds. We stayed on the East campground for two nights then moved to the West camp. Both have something different to experience. We will return! We camped at Buffalo Bill State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This campground is ideal for those looking for a little more privacy and away from the hustle and bustle of town. We had site #4 at the North Shore, just 10 minutes from Cody, overlooking the reservoir. The sites are level with easy hook-ups. The only drawback to this location is there are no sewers, but they do have a dump station. The mountain views are great. The campsites are moderately maintained. Some weeds and lack of grooming, but overall clean. This location was one of our family favorites. Good location for bicycles and pets. We camped at Buffalo Bill State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Well situated with spectacular views. We got an electric/water site late in the afternoon without a reservation. Nice level sites with lots of room. The nature trail is not maintained and was impassable within about 200 yards. We camped at Buffalo Bill State Park in a Motorhome.

Park was open with pull thrus available. We had electric but the water was not on until May 16. Restrooms are pit toilets. Water in lake was extremely low. Unlimited supply of firewood available! Would stay here again. We camped at Buffalo Bill State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Beautiful views. Not a lot of amenities, no showers (too bad) Very dark at night. Its like generic camping..electric and H2O only in our loop. Some loops don't have anything. Ranger Pat was wonderful, he guided us to some great activities in the area including a spectacular drive through the Big Horn basin! Don't miss the Buffalo Bill Museum. Theres an RV park in Cody but Buffalo Bill SP gives you more room. We would stay again if we could get another lake view site. We camped at Buffalo Bill State Park in a Fifth Wheel.
