This park is on a beautiful lake with mountains around it. All the sites view the lake. This is the North Shore campground and there are 3 loops, 1 with electric--the others are dry camping. The 6 tent-only sites are awesome, with privacy fences. There are small trees but no real shade. It's so windy that it stays cool. I would have given it a 10 if there were more electric sites. All sites are pull-through. The town of Cody is very special. I would strongly suggest visiting here. The ride from Yellowstone was gorgeous. We camped at Buffalo Bill State Park in a Motorhome.

Visit the Irma Hotel for sure. Had a great meal for a reasonable price at A Proud Cut and a great haircut and color at Strandz. Going to the rodeo tonight and the museum tomorrow.

We had no reservations, therefore where in the dry camp area.
It made no difference to us because the spot was absolutely beautiful. We stayed an extra day....made it three nights. On our second day the wind came up and it was pleasant. It is June though and the wind was warm.
The views are great! We are on the water, looking at the lake and mountains.
You are ten minutes into downtown Cody, which by the way is very charming. Like it so much better than Jackson Hole.
If we had the time, we would stay longer. We camped at Buffalo Bill State Park in a Motorhome.

Campsites on the lake at North Shore Bay are a 10 for the views (this assumes you know that only one loop has electric and water and the other 1st come 1st serve loops have no hook-ups). If you don't have a campsite with a great view, the campground is an 8 or 9 overall.
Pros: Large sites. Convenient to Cody and on the way to Yellowstone. Very clean vault toilets. Great views.
Cons: The road to Yellowstone creates road noise (not awful). No shower facility. A bit windy in the afternoon and early evenings as storms come off Yellowstone. If you are on the inside of the loop your door will face out to the loop road (loops are pretty short so there is not to much traffic.
$26.00 reflects: water, electric, state park fee, online fee, out of state. We camped at Buffalo Bill State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Our reservation was ready for us with our name on the pad post. All the sites I saw were pull-thrus. We had the park virtually all to ourselves. The surrounding Absaroka Mountains make a stunning view from the campground. The park is very grassy with some scattered timber. The drive into Cody is about 10 minutes. We stayed two nights. We camped at Buffalo Bill State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Have stayed here numerous time late September and October.

Usually head on into Yellowstone the next day.

Have only stayed in the first one out of Cody, on the lake. Beautiful view and close to the water, have caught lake trout and rainbows casting from shore by my campsite. The only negative is it is very barren and open and with the way the mountain valley lays it can get some very strong winds. And if there are no winds you get a bit of highway noise which does get less later at night. We camped at Buffalo Bill State Park in a Truck Camper.

We really enjoyed our stay in our 38 foot MH. The views of the reservoir and the surrounding mountains are awesome and it is a great base for visiting Cody and Yellowstone. No onsite sewage hookups (dump station was located near entrance/exit) but had 50 amp service and potable water. Wifi was nonexistent. Fire rings and picnic table on site. Leveling was not a problem for us, but many campers complained about their sites. Firewood could be obtained from the camp host with a donation. The selling point of this campground is the spectacular scenery! We camped at Buffalo Bill State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Cody Museum is a "must see" as is Yellowstone park. Old Faithful and Buffalo herds are all within driving/riding distance. Be careful pulling in, there are a small number of trees that can cause serious scratches on your coach.

Very scenic waterfront park. Close to Cody and an hour or less to Yellowstone. Fairly quiet, but with some highway noise. Nicely spaced sites and does not feel crowded. Very few hookup sites, so book earlier during peak season if you want electric and water. Has dump station. Best suited for self-contained rigs, as park has minimal facilities. We camped at Buffalo Bill State Park in a Travel Trailer.

We were in site #50, a level pullthrough, with water & electric and a picnic table & fire ring, and lots of well cared for grass.
If there is a problem with this campground, it's the one way roads, to get into some of the sites, with your door & awning on the right side, you have to go the wrong way. Sites are fairly spacious, and trees at some. This is the North Fork campground, and is located farther up the river vs the actual lake. Bathrooms were very clean.
If ever in the area, we would absolutely stay here again. We camped at Buffalo Bill State Park in a Motorhome.

This is a beautiful park one of the most scenic ones we have stayed in so far. They only have a few sights with electric and water so book early. The grounds are well kept and the host were great very helpful we are definitely going to stay here if we are in the area! We stayed in the North fork area. Tips for other Campers:

Only about 39 miles from yellowstone National Park and 15 miles to Cody. We camped 4 days and could have stayed longer; we didn't see everything. There were mule deer and elk so close and beautiful geese that flew over everyday. We would highly recommend this park.

Stayed here for 3 nights. Cody has a lot to offer. Pros: Views are really stunning, especially great to wake up to, and $22 for elecric/water is pretty good. For the most part the sites are level, have picnic tables and fire pits. Cons: I don't much like the side-of-the-road parking, never enough room between you and RVs passing by. I was able to put out my awning but bigger rigs weren't. Also the shore is very rocky, hard for pets or people to walk, and the wind can be very strong. Overall the pros outweigh the cons - I'd stay here again. We camped at Buffalo Bill State Park in a Travel Trailer.

This was a great campground with space enough between sites. Our site sat on a bluff overlooking the lake. The site was clean and services worked perfectly (50 amp and water hookup, dump station). There was no wifi available. Although we didn't need the showers, I imagine someone who does would be put out about traveling to another campground down the road 5 miles. We camped at Buffalo Bill State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We did not get a water & electric site, as the few they have are taken but we do have a no hookup site for the night. Rangers at both campgrounds in the park did not know if there would be any W/E sites available in the morning; one said he didn't think there would be. For the night we figured dry camping would be OK but didn't want to do it for 4 or 5 nights. I guess we should have made a reservation. I thought if we got there early enough we could still get an electric site. I forgot the weekend was coming up. This was a Thursday didn't realize the state park is on a lake and would be busy. No hookup sites, they had plenty open. Stayed only 1 night. BB State Park is a nice park. The Shoshone River runs through the park. Lots of water, nice views. It has 2 campgrounds and each has some W/E sites. The North Shore Bay campground has 37 sites of which 7 are W/E. This is the nicer of the 2 as it is on the water. North Fork Campground that we were in for the night has 62 sites, 8 W/E. This one is not on the water. If you want a w/e site you most likely will need to reserve one. We camped at Buffalo Bill State Park in a Motorhome.

We felt this park was a real find. Our space was waterfront, with a beautiful view of the lake. A little rustic, but met our needs. 6 miles into Cody, WY gave us the chance to go in and go to the museum. Would definitely stay there again just for the view. We travel in a 37' RV. Nice and simple park. Freeway traffic slowed at night. Easy and beautiful drive into Cody, Wy. Only a few electric and water sites but as said, everything worked and was clean. Good Verizon cell and data coverage. We camped at Buffalo Bill State Park in a Fifth Wheel.
