There doesn't seem to be any mention of the dry camping sites at either the North Shore or North Fork campgrounds on the website for the Buffalo Bill State Park. At the North Shore campground, there are three loops. Loop A has seven sites with water and electric that are reservable, and the cost is $22 per night for non-residents, with an additional $8 for online reservations. Sites 1 and 7 are back-ins, the remainder are pull-throughs and some are more level than others. Some sites will be more challenging for a big rig to level than others. Loops B and C in the North Shore campground are dry camping on a first come, first serve basis, and are $17 per night for non-residents. There are tent sites in Loops B and C also. Sites are nicely spaced in all loops. Most of the sites in Loops B and C are pull-throughs, but there are a couple of back-ins. The North Shore campground has many sites that are adjacent to the lake. Verizon data and cell worked well in both A and B loops of the North Shore campground. There are no trails, but there are plenty of areas to walk pets. There are pit toilets at North Shore, but no showers. It's about 10 miles to Cody from the North Shore campground and about 15 miles from the North Fork campground. At the North Fork campground, there is a loop that has reservable electric and water sites, a loop of dry camping, and a loop of first come, first serve electric and/or electric/water sites (some sites have electric only). The roads in both the North Shore and North Fork campgrounds are paved, as are the sites. There are showers at the North Fork campground. Both campgrounds are suitable for big rigs. There are picnic tables and a fire grate at each site at both campgrounds. We camped at Buffalo Bill State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

I'm not a museum person per se, but the Buffalo Bill Center of the West was one of the best museums I've ever visited. Tickets are good for two days. If you don't want your two days to be consecutive, tell the agent and they will make a note on the receipt of your second day/date. We went on a Wednesday and a Saturday. The Dug Up Gun Museum was quite interesting as well. There are many restaurants in Cody.

Was clean and in a beautiful view area. It had a dump station. Just be sure you understand the date you're supposed to leave. They will issue you a very expensive ticket. We camped at Buffalo Bill State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed at the North Fork campground (not North Shore). The setting is really marvelous. The high buttes and cliffs along the Shoshone river, along with the lake shore are a beautiful combination even during the dry summer. Unfortunately, there are no swimming beaches. That was our sole disappointment. We are fishermen, but that activity is available. Some sites have electricity and water, others only electricity. We had the latter. That was fine. I filled my freshwater and later dumped my waste tanks on the way out. The folks that run the campground are very friendly. The spaces are wide open and the grass was reasonably green. Cody, WY is a 20 minute drive to the east. The electricity was stable and our neighbors were quiet. There are some trees around, but shade is at a premium. Considering the price, the beauty of the area, and the easy access to Cody, I would recommend this campground. We camped at Buffalo Bill State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Buffalo Bill Center of the West museum is well worth the time. It's HUGE. and quite fascinating. I wasn't a big fan of the gun museum, but everything else we loved. My daughter had fun doing a scavenger hunt for different art pieces.

Stayed in A loop with water and electric. Site #5 was very sloped but we managed. The view, the quiet and the evening sky made up for any inconveniences. We camped at Buffalo Bill State Park in a Motorhome.

This was one of our favorite campsites ever. Such a beautiful view and large sites with plenty of room and privacy. We stayed in the north shore section with water and electric hookups. Verizon coverage was good there also. Convenient to Cody, and about 1.5 hours to the Fishing bridge section of Yellowstone. We camped at Buffalo Bill State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This is at the North SHORE area. Most of the sites in Loops A and B are not level. Loop C has the most that come close to level. Loop A has 50 amp power and water. The water is low pressure, 8 psi for us, so we used our fresh water tank. Loops B & C are dry. The restrooms for each loop are pit toilets. Big rigs can fit, but it's a major struggle to get level. We camped at Buffalo Bill State Park in a Motorhome.

Old Trail Town has historic buildings (Butch Cassidy) and an historic cemetery (Jeremiah Johnston). It's near this campground. Cody Museum - 1 ticket gives entry to all 5 of the Buffalo Bill Center of the West's Museums. This has a top rating from Trip Advisor.

We stayed here as a vacation spot between Cody and Yellowstone, and as far as the park it was great. Basically we had reservations, and arrived, found our site late at night and set up. Never saw anyone for 2 days, found our name on a check in sheet taped to the booth later lol. Park was very clean, beautiful setting. We stayed at the North Fork side, highly recommend. We camped at Buffalo Bill State Park in a Travel Trailer.

This review is for the North Fork part of Buffalo Bill State Park. Great little park in the outside of Cody to stay at before Yellowstone visit. Only 8 electric sites, the rest have no services. Beautiful mountains on both sides. Verizon worked well. Good satellite service. North Fork does have showers and I believe North Shore doesn't. Great for an overnight or two. We camped at Buffalo Bill State Park in a Travel Trailer.

This park is on a beautiful lake with mountains around it. All the sites view the lake. This is the North Shore campground and there are 3 loops, 1 with electric--the others are dry camping. The 6 tent-only sites are awesome, with privacy fences. There are small trees but no real shade. It's so windy that it stays cool. I would have given it a 10 if there were more electric sites. All sites are pull-through. The town of Cody is very special. I would strongly suggest visiting here. The ride from Yellowstone was gorgeous. We camped at Buffalo Bill State Park in a Motorhome.

Why were there no warning signs as to risk of high wind conditions in the night? My tents were broken in the wind, and we had to spend the night in our car. There is a wind break wall for the tent area table, but no wind break available for your tent. Tent at your own risk. This was the worst experience on my vacation. (Aug 18, 2016). No showers. The only running water is from a pump handle; clean water? No camp host available. For the misery I endured, this was overpriced at $17. We camped at Buffalo Bill State Park in a Tent.

We stayed in one of the 'reserveable' spots in the Northfork Campground, river side of the road. Currently no hook-ups on this side of the road, but the uninterrupted view was really great; and with potable water and a dumpsite as you pull into the campground, no hook-ups was not a big deal to us as we are used to dry camping. The upper loop which is right down on the river is better sites as you are down out of the wind, and as I said, right on the river, however, there are more bugs there.

Picnic tables are in all the camp spots along with nice fire rings, shower house had good pressure and lots of hot water. I believe I used 6 quarters to have a great shower.

Downside: You WILL be charged a FULL camping charge if an extra vehicle is in your site over night. No where did anyone in our party see that on the website. Beware so you aren't surprised at the gate as we were. The gentleman running the gate couldn't show us anywhere in the literature where it said that was policy. It took the camp hosts until the following day to find it in the literature.

Camp hosts were very nice, friendly, helpful folks. We camped at Buffalo Bill State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We had no reservations, therefore where in the dry camp area.
It made no difference to us because the spot was absolutely beautiful. We stayed an extra day....made it three nights. On our second day the wind came up and it was pleasant. It is June though and the wind was warm.
The views are great! We are on the water, looking at the lake and mountains.
You are ten minutes into downtown Cody, which by the way is very charming. Like it so much better than Jackson Hole.
If we had the time, we would stay longer. We camped at Buffalo Bill State Park in a Motorhome.

Campsites on the lake at North Shore Bay are a 10 for the views (this assumes you know that only one loop has electric and water and the other 1st come 1st serve loops have no hook-ups). If you don't have a campsite with a great view, the campground is an 8 or 9 overall.
Pros: Large sites. Convenient to Cody and on the way to Yellowstone. Very clean vault toilets. Great views.
Cons: The road to Yellowstone creates road noise (not awful). No shower facility. A bit windy in the afternoon and early evenings as storms come off Yellowstone. If you are on the inside of the loop your door will face out to the loop road (loops are pretty short so there is not to much traffic.
$26.00 reflects: water, electric, state park fee, online fee, out of state. We camped at Buffalo Bill State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Our reservation was ready for us with our name on the pad post. All the sites I saw were pull-thrus. We had the park virtually all to ourselves. The surrounding Absaroka Mountains make a stunning view from the campground. The park is very grassy with some scattered timber. The drive into Cody is about 10 minutes. We stayed two nights.
