This is the best RV park in Cody. It is conveniently located near the museum and within walking distance of restaurants and shops and the hospital. Walmart is about a mile away. Great access to all tourist sights. The layout of the park is compact with very nice sites along the back row, tight sites in the middle. Trash but no recycling. Water, cable were fine. Sewer connections could be at the back needing 25 feet of hose...they sell additional sewer hose in the office. Our electrical kept spiking on one leg losing half the circuits but that could be weather related. Office personnel are knowledgeable and very nice. Very good store. The spinkler system kept being moved so our entryway was always muddy. We camped at Ponderosa Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed a week, using Cody as a base camp for several day trips. They will not give a weekly rate, Just a small Good Sam discount, so it was pricier than we expected. The sites on inner section are very close together. We were on outer perimeter, but close to highway. It was noisy and made worse by road work all week. The water, elec, and cable were on wrong side, and sewer at the back of the site. Was workable but inconvenient.
Staff were very friendly and laundry was nice and clean. Wifi was ok, better in morning and late at night.
Not sure I would choose this campground again. We camped at Ponderosa Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Powered hang gliding over Cody was absolutely awesome. Brochures in campground office.
Prime rib at Irma's was very good. Rodeo is very enjoyable.
New indoor shooting range where you fire old time weapons was really fun despite the price, but there is senior and big military discount.

We were excited to stay in Cody and were looking forward to a good night's sleep before touring Yellowstone, but that didn't happen. Our site was right at the entrance and there was constant traffic throughout the evening and night. It was nice that we were close to the shower house, bathrooms, and laundry, but people are rude and it was noisy. The need security at night of some sort. We were very surprised when registering to find out they did not take credit cards, only a personal check or cash. The ladies at registration could not have been any nicer. They were the best part of this campground. We camped at Ponderosa Campground in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

The other RV park in town had already closed for the winter so we called here. At first they said they would only be open one more night before closing for winter but then changed their mind due to the number of campers and said they would stay open longer. Gravel sites with grass strip, concrete sidewalk and wooden picnic table. Did not take credit cards. Small fenced dog park. All utilities including cable tv and wifi worked well. Bathroom toilet stalls and shower stalls were pretty tight. Shower stalls separated by curtains. Not much lighting at night. Some tree limbs need to be trimmed to avoid rubbing. Located alongside the main road through Cody but was very quiet at night. Could walk to the Buffalo Bill Center but considering the amount of walking once you get to the Center, we chose to drive our toad. There is a Dairy Queen at the corner of the Park and a walmart down the road. Washers were $2 and dryers were $1.50 for 30 minutes but they were 120 volt 1500 watt units so close to an hour was required for complete drying. Rate was for a pull through with a Good Sam discount and seemed high and thus the slightly lower rating. We camped at Ponderosa Campground in a Motorhome.

This park has an excellent location right in town, near the Buffalo Bill Museum complex. It has excellent cable. We used our own MiFi. The biggest negative is that the sites are so close together. The rig behind us is less than three feet away. We are on a cul de sac, and had to move our car so the folks next door could get into their site. We also had quite a bit of road noise. That being said, we have stayed here before and would return, based mostly on the location. We camped at Ponderosa Campground in a Motorhome.

Nice park on west side of Cody, 3 blocks from Buffalo Bill Museum. Stayed in back part, which was quieter and less crowed. Level and long pull-thru sites. Only one restroom/shower open in back, which had no space in shower for shampoos, etc. Front section very crowded, filled with over-nighters & longtermers. Front restrooms very small/non-ADA compliant. Good wi-fi, cable & laundry. Great gift shop. Saw many campers not picking up after their pets anywhere in the park, and this is a health hazard. Small fenced dog walk area; large grassy area in front of Tepees even had supplies and waste containers, yet it was a mine-field! Mentioned 2x to owners, who seem to have no plan/method to enforce pet policy. Would stay again if owners could get the pet waste issue resolved. We camped at Ponderosa Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Stayed for 5 nights and would stay here again. Plenty of nice grass between sites. A sidewalk on the door side of the RV. You can walk to the downtown area if you would like. Not far away. Sites where we were (premium pull through) , were plenty spacious. We camped at Ponderosa Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Lots of things to do in Cody. Rodeo every night. Bison steaks at the Chop & Rib House, Buffalo Jump Winery, only 50 miles away from Yellowstone. If you stay 50 or so miles away from Yellowstone the prices are much better. A beautiful drive to get to Yellowstone.

We have been here numerous times in the past and have always been happy as long as we were put in the newer section where we could get satellite reception and have a pull-through site. The older section is tight, mostly back-ins, and heavily treed. I was tempted to try one of the other area parks but this park's staffer told us that we were assured of a satellite friendly site as long as we got there before 3 P.M. So we got there by 3 P.M. and were assigned a tight, back-in site in the older section. While I was able to get roof satellite reception, the site was not acceptable for several other reasons: 1) the sewer was directly behind the asphalt RV pad meaning I had to crawl under the rear end of the RV to hook up to the sewer 2) the electric and cable connections were also behind the asphalt pad but over 10' to the right (It was a shared post with our neighbor and within just a few feet of their RV); and 3) at first, we couldn't even find the water faucet - it was under our neighbor's picnic table and, at most, 2" off the ground (I again had to lay on the ground to hook up!). In addition to being misled over the phone about what kind of site we were getting, the site we got had some of the worst and hardest to connect hook ups I have ever (25+ years of RVing and maybe 1,000 parks) encountered. As I have said in previous reviews, you need to get a site in the newer section of this park if you want ease of site entry, satellite reception, etc. The bath and laundry facilities are OK. The cable is about 30 channels and, like most parks today, their 802.11 network was useless in the evening once everybody got online. I saw no sign of recycling or recreational amenities. My low rating is for their devious customer relations and the poor quality site I was assigned. We camped at Ponderosa Campground in a Motorhome.

This can be a nice RV park depending on which site they give you. We had reservations, but still got a site on asphalt with other rv's about two feet away from us. Our slide barely made it out. Thankfully I had two long water hoses and two sewer hoses or we would not have reached the hookups. There are some nice pull-through spots, but not sure who those go to? They also only except cash. We were next to the laundry room were everyone doing their laundry sat out side and smoked cigarettes. The most second hand smoke we have been around. We camped at Ponderosa Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

There is more to do in and around Cody than you can ever do. The Buffalo Bill Museum is world class and takes 2 or 3 days to really see it, Yellowstone is just 50 miles away, the Beartooth Pass drive to Red Lodge, Montana is a must see, and the Irma Hotel is interesting, and the Cowboy music show with Dan Miller is excellent. We were there a week and it needed to be at least two weeks.

The park hosts were very nice. The park is centrally located in Cody and close to all points of interest. Only 3 blocks from the famous Buffalo Bill Center of the West (Allow 2 days to visit.) Our back-in site was level and very nicely shaded by large Cottonwoods. Utilities all worked well. Good voltage and water pressure. The WiFi, although the signal was strong, the throughput was spotty at best. Verizon signal in town was very steady. The cable reception was very good. My only "complaint" other than the spotty WiFi was that the back-in sites were pretty cramped and close together. But hey... you get to know your neighbors! We will stay here again in the future. We camped at Ponderosa Campground in a Travel Trailer.

I have mixed feelings about this park. The staff was super friendly on check in. They don't take credit cards, so was able to pay by check.

The CG is clean as was the very nice laundry. Our pull-thru site was level and gravel. The sewer hook up was far to the back with the elec. being farther to the front, so unless you have a sewer hose extension, you must keep the MH farther back, so wouldn't be able to leave the toad attached if only staying one night.

Our pull-thru site was in the 2nd section and was nice since we were on the end with no neighbors on one side. The sites are fairly close, but manageable. The interior sites in the first section are like a can of sardines and very unappealing. I would not have wanted to stay there. The back-in sites along the perimeter were not bad unless it was a site that backs up to the road. Those would have been very noisy.

The WiFi was awful unless you sat at the laundry or near the office. It was really good there, but was awful at our site. Cable was good with plenty of channels.

We stayed at another CG last year that was cheaper, but a little farther away from the action. Not sure if being closer to town is worth the extra money for this park. Not sure I'd stay here again, but if so, it would only be in the 2nd section. We camped at Ponderosa Campground in a Motorhome.

We camped here with our motorcycle and Aspen pop up camper.

Bring cash or a check, no plastic accepted! Make a reservation and make sure you arrive not later than 3:00 pm or they may give your site away. We talked to a few to whom that had happened although the management still worked them in.

Our site had nice shade from about noon until dark. This is a tourist area so the sites are compacted together to maximize income so don't plan on extending your awning. We camped at Ponderosa Campground in a Tent Trailer.
