Date of Stay: October, 2016 - $43.00
Overall Rating:

We pulled in late on a Sunday and there were plenty of spots. At the office it says on a sign on the door to come on back in the morning to pay. The office is a large log building, very attractive in its own right. Seemed

like a down to earth folksy place.

We set up in a pull thru site and as we were setting up my husband said

he thought some one had driven by

and marked that we were there.

We had full hookups at Ponderosa and there was a cable hookup but we

don't watch TV while travelling, perhaps in the future. It is right in

town and convenient to businesses.

We had to leave fairly early the next morning but later than 9 a.m. so we could swing by the office. When we opened the door to our rv the next morning we found a note saying

Howdy please stop by the office. When my husband got in the office

he found that they already had our license plate number. So much for the folksiness and suggesting they trust people to stop by the office and pay. They don't.

Our site was near the dumpsters and there was 2 trucks there early the next morning. We camped at Ponderosa Campground in a Motorhome.

Very close campsites. The 1st one I was assigned was much too small for my 5th wheel, so they gave me one I recommended to them that would accommodate us. Washers and dryers were $2.00 for washer and $1.75 for dryer. Close accommodations for campers. We camped at Ponderosa Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Good park. We found the location to be perfect and the park was clean and easy to navigate.

A few spots in the old section are tight, but overall I saw no bad sites. We camped at Ponderosa Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Stayed 6 days in pull-through site. Everything worked but internet was spotty. Tights are fairly tight but they are level. Location is great for touring the area. We camped at Ponderosa Campground in a Motorhome.

Back-in sites along highway 14-16-20 are tight and night time noise was minimal. Bathrooms are clean and well maintained but no doors (curtains) on stalls. They do not take credit cards. We camped at Ponderosa Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Nicest park in town. A bit close, next doors awning was just a few feet from our slide out. Windy weather while we were there, no shade in the pull through parking east of the offices. Back in spaces nearer to the offices looked to be a bit tight for RV's with slides. Bring CASH or CHECKBOOK. They do not accept credit cards and seem to be proud of the fact "we've never had a credit card machine". They do have an ATM in the office. Clean laundry areas $2.00 to wash and $1.50 to dry. We camped at Ponderosa Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Excellent service at check-in, wonderful gift shop, cable, laundry & the best wi-fi we have ever had at a camp site. The campsite length was just right for our fifth-wheel; however, the site was a tad narrow. We were provided with enough interesting information for Cody to keep us busy for a week :)! Only one caveat, check or cash only...there is an ATM machine in the lobby though. We camped at Ponderosa Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

This is an older park with additional areas added on. Wonderful people in the office, you'll think they are your grandparents. (and I've been retired 6 years) Many mature trees are in the original part of the RV Park. We were assigned to a space with 2 large trees making the satellite antenna useless after specifically asking for a space with satellite access. The CB antenna scraped on the branches backing in and the branches hung over to the far side of the RV when parked. Our site was on the main path to the restrooms and office so walk by traffic was almost continual.

Cable TV is provided. In our space, the utilities were on the other side of the large trees. 40' of water hose and 30' of sewer hose to reach. Our 40' electric cable had one wrap on the reel left. We weren't a very good fit for this space, but the office staff debated and agreed it was the best of what they had available. There were 2 tour groups staying the same night we were so I presume we were lucky to get any space.

Verizon phone service was good. Cable TV was a change from the satellite we are used to, but we managed for a night. Many restaurants are nearby and other shopping is close. Staff is very good at giving directions and recommendations.

We would stay here again, but make a reservation farther in advance to insure a better spot. We camped at Ponderosa Campground in a Motorhome.

This is a well maintained campground, with very friendly and helpful staff at check in. Interior roads are gravel and big rig access is fair. Our level pull through gravel pad was not overly spacious but it did have a picnic table and space to park our towed, not a lot of privacy between sites, but there was some grass and a few shade trees. The view from the front of our RV was a fence and brick building, as well as the dog walk, which was the gravel road used by cars and RV's not the safest for you or your pet. The bathrooms were clean and the laundry well equipped with 8 washers and 8 dryers, however both the laundry and main bathrooms were located by the front office, so it required a long walk to get to either of them. Wifi was good when it worked and cell was patchy. The older part of this campground is very tight, everything seemed to be crammed in and looked somewhat junky, we were located in the newer campground, which at least did have a bit more space. There are four exit/entrances to the campground, all onto a very busy road, not too bad with a car, but could be a problem with an RV and towed, however despite the busy road we did find the campground to be quiet. There are plenty of food stores close by, including two Walmart's, lots of wonderful restaurants and of course endless sightseeing. Cody is a gem of a town and despite a few negatives we would stay at this campground again, it's all about location and this is a great downtown location. We camped at Ponderosa Campground in a Motorhome.

If I had not been here before, I would have felt very misled by some of the recent reviews. I guess the problem is that this site asks reviewers to describe their specific site. Since most parks have a variety of sites, only describing their site can be very misleading. If you have a site in the new section, you will have a long pull through with well located utilities, and an open sky for satellite reception. The majority of sites, however, are in the older section and are mostly back in, very tight, and heavily treed. The bath and laundry facilities are OK. I did not use the cable and the WIFI was off and on during our stay. I saw no recycling. For me, the open sites rate a 7, but the older sites only rate a 5. We camped at Ponderosa Campground in a Motorhome.

This is the best RV park in Cody. It is conveniently located near the museum and within walking distance of restaurants and shops and the hospital. Walmart is about a mile away. Great access to all tourist sights. The layout of the park is compact with very nice sites along the back row, tight sites in the middle. Trash but no recycling. Water, cable were fine. Sewer connections could be at the back needing 25 feet of hose...they sell additional sewer hose in the office. Our electrical kept spiking on one leg losing half the circuits but that could be weather related. Office personnel are knowledgeable and very nice. Very good store. The spinkler system kept being moved so our entryway was always muddy. We camped at Ponderosa Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed a week, using Cody as a base camp for several day trips. They will not give a weekly rate, Just a small Good Sam discount, so it was pricier than we expected. The sites on inner section are very close together. We were on outer perimeter, but close to highway. It was noisy and made worse by road work all week. The water, elec, and cable were on wrong side, and sewer at the back of the site. Was workable but inconvenient.
Staff were very friendly and laundry was nice and clean. Wifi was ok, better in morning and late at night.
Not sure I would choose this campground again. We camped at Ponderosa Campground in a Motorhome.
